Tokyo: From Lawless Madpolice to Minister
Chapter 94 - 90: Jing Shangwei Goes Crazy, Arrests

Chapter 94: Chapter 90: Jing Shangwei Goes Crazy, Arrests

Zhongshan Minggui was 35 years old and married.

But his wife and child were back in Hokkaido, ostensibly because he feared a school transfer might affect his child’s studies, but the reality was that it conveniently allowed him to indulge himself in Tokyo.

Nevertheless, after indulging too much yesterday, he had no mood to seek pleasure tonight and went home early after work.

His residence was a street-facing villa, and since he had to work the next day, he did not park his car in the garage but directly at the roadside in front of the gate.

After all, his status spared him from the traffic police issues.

Zhongshan Minggui changed his shoes and took off his coat in the entrance hall, entered the living room, sat down on the sofa with a somewhat stiff and sore neck, and soon fell into a deep sleep from the exhaustion of toiling for the nation.

Right at that moment, the sliding door in the kitchen silently opened, and Jing Shangwei, who had been hiding there all day, walked out expressionlessly and barefoot.

Looking at the sleeping Jing Shangwei, he slowly pulled a Chief’s wire from his bosom, wrapped it around the fat neck that was almost disappearing, then braced one foot against the sofa and pulled hard.

"Uh!" Zhongshan Minggui’s head jerked backward in his sleep, opening his eyes in pain, his gaze meeting the unkept face of Jing Shangwei looking up at him.

He obviously remembered this man.

Zhongshan Minggui’s eyes widened, his breathing becoming increasingly difficult, as if his neck was about to be severed; a pleading look appeared in his eyes, his hands trying to grab at the wire around his neck, but unable to, as blood had already started to ooze from his neck.

"Scared? Terrified? This is how my daughter felt before she died," Jing Shangwei said, his face twitching slightly, his gloved hands tightly strangling the wire, breathing more and more rapidly, "I gave you my daughter’s underwear stained with Jinwei Teng’s bodily fluids, yet you said there was no evidence? Huh? Was there no evidence?"

"Uh... ha— ha—"

Tears slid down the corners of Zhongshan Minggui’s eyes; his hands reached back and grabbed Jing Shangwei’s arms, emitting unintelligible noises, his eyes filled with desperation.

He would never have expected that this useless man, who had once knelt before him begging, would now dare to personally end his life.

"In this era, it’s already very hard for us ordinary people to merely live; why must you bully us like this? How? How?! Damn you!"

Jing Shangwei questioned through gritted teeth, his eyes bloodshot. After a while, Zhongshan Minggui’s hands that were clutching his arm drooped, his legs stopped kicking, and he leaned his head back with his mouth half-open and eyes wide, dying without closing them.

He never had the chance to say his last words.

But Jing Shangwei didn’t relax immediately; he kept the position for a while longer before finally letting go, sitting on the floor gasping for air, clearly exhausted himself.

After resting for a while and recovering, Jing Shangwei got up, washed and stored the blood-stained wire in the kitchen, then began to search Zhongshan Minggui’s house.

Money was secondary; to his surprise, he found a handgun in the drawer of Zhongshan Minggui’s study.

And the magazine was full.

Clearly, this man, burdened with guilt, had used his status to secure an illegal firearm for self-defense.

After looting the valuables, Jing Shangwei did not hurry to escape but decided to wait patiently until nightfall.

.........

The next day, Aoyama Xiu Xin went straight to Asai Ayumi’s office at the police station, after having a dream about encountering Neitian Youji the previous night which further elevated his thoughts.

It wasn’t that Neitian Youji was inferior.

But that Asai Ayumi was more cost-effective.

"What’s the rush, what’s going on?" Asai Ayumi, who was applying makeup, put down her mirror and asked with a puzzled expression.

Aoyama Xiu Xin walked over, lifted her up, and pinned her on the desk, "I suddenly missed you very much."

"You call that missing me? Despicable!" Asai Ayumi rolled her eyes and shook her legs, kicking off her high heels, "Make it quick."

Beigong Liangxiong’s consecutive crimes had already caused panic in society, so Police Headquarters was set to hold a press conference this morning to respond to the citizens.

Primarily to stabilize public sentiment.

As the person directly responsible for this case, Asai Ayumi would attend later, and thus she had put on a dress uniform instead of pants—convenient for Aoyama Xiu Xin.

"Knock, knock, knock!" Just then, there was a knock on the door.

A flash of panic crossed Asai Ayumi’s face as she pushed Aoyama Xiu Xin on top of her, "Quick, get up."

"Inspector?" a voice from outside inquired before continuing on its own, "The identity of the suspect identified by the thief in yesterday’s surveillance has been found out."

"Give me a minute," Asai Ayumi replied, quickly fastening her uniform buttons after Aoyama Xiu Xin withdrew, then whispered pointing below the desk, "Hide under there for now."

Aoyama Xiu Xin felt speechless; that was the secretary’s station, but in order to not be seen disheveled, he had no choice but to hide there.

"Come in," Asai Ayumi sat upright in her office chair, showing no signs of disarray.

A police officer pushed open the door and, after bowing to Asai Ayumi, handed over a file, "The suspect’s name is Beigong Liangxiong, he’s a plumber."

"Alright, you can leave the file and go attend to your duties," Asai Ayumi nodded impassively, looking very serious.

"Aye!" The officer bowed and then turned to leave.

"Bang!"

After that interruption, Aoyama Xiu Xin lost any further interest in staying, got out from under the desk, and began to get dressed.

Asai Ayumi, too preoccupied to look at the documents just sent over, quickly donned her skirt, "I need to attend a press conference, you take a look at these documents."

She then hurried out.

Aoyama Xiu Xin picked up the documents that had just been delivered to the table, glanced at them, and then took them back to the chief’s office, issuing two commands to his subordinates.

The first was to search Beigong Liangxiong’s home since the possessions of the last two victims had been stolen by the murderer, to see if these items were in his house.

The second was to bring Beigong Liangxiong in for questioning.

His subordinates split into two groups and set out while he, as the commander, only needed to wait at the Police Headquarters for news.

Twenty minutes later, Aoyama Xiu Xin received a call from the subordinates searching Beigong Liangxiong’s home.

They had discovered the victims’ jewelry and possessions at Beigong Liangxiong’s place, which together with a burglar’s testimony, confirmed that he was indeed the murderer.

Meanwhile, the group led by Yoshikai Youzai had reached Beigong Liangxiong’s workplace.

"We are from the Police Headquarters, Beigong Liangxiong, you are related to a case, please come with us for an investigation!" Yoshikai Youzai said after showing his badge.

Beigong Liangxiong’s face turned pale immediately, and sweat beaded on his forehead. He could not understand how the police had found him and before he could recover, handcuffs were already locked around his wrists, and he was forcibly dragged outside.

His colleagues were immediately in an uproar, discussing fervently; nobody had imagined this disliked fellow was actually a criminal.

Half an hour later, Aoyama Xiu Xin waited in the interrogation room for Beigong Liangxiong, who was brought in by Yoshikai Youzai.

Once he was pinned to a chair, Aoyama Xiu Xin waved the others out, then got straight to the point, "Someone saw you leaving the Sunset Apartment at 3 a.m. the day before yesterday, and we found the jewelry of two victims in your home, so there’s only one truth—you are the murderer!"

Regarding why only the possessions of the latter two victims, not those of the first victim Mikami Yasuko, were found at his home, Aoyama Xiu Xin guessed that it was because it was Beigong Liangxiong’s first time killing and he hadn’t thought to loot.

Fortunately, there were no items from Mikami Yasuko; otherwise, he would have had to destroy them, and now it saved him the trouble.

Beigong Liangxiong kept his lips tightly sealed.

After a long silence, he slowly raised his head to look at Aoyama Xiu Xin, "Do you want to hear my story?"

Aoyama Xiu Xin smiled, then suddenly exploded, pressing his head down violently against the tabletop, the impact directly shattering his nasal bone, and a stream of bright red blood instantly burst out, staining the table.

"Ah, ah, my nose! Ah!"

"I don’t want to hear your story, nor do I want to understand whether you have suffered; I don’t give a damn about your past! I am not here to save you, I am here to catch you!" Aoyama Xiu Xin pressed down on his head even harder and demanded in a chilling tone, "I am asking you, are you the murderer who killed the two victims by copying Kitano Jinghua’s method!"

"No! I did not copy!" Beigong Liangxiong blurted out instinctively, knowing he could not escape, he did not argue but instead fought for his own dignity with rapid breaths and agitated emotions, "I did not copy him, I killed Mikami Yasuko too!"

"Idiot!" Aoyama Xiu Xin scolded, glaring at him ferociously, "We won’t miss any of your crimes, but we won’t wrong you for things you didn’t do, don’t bring more trouble upon yourself!"

"Mikami Yasuko was really killed by me, I killed them all!" Beigong Liangxiong shouted.

Aoyama Xiu Xin looked at him coldly, "Are you saying I caught the wrong person? If so, do you have any evidence that proves you killed Mikami Yasuko?"

If you really have evidence, hurry up and bring it out.

I’ll get rid of it.

"I..." Beigong Liangxiong was at a loss for words, he truly had no evidence, he could only keep insisting, "Anyway, I did it, I didn’t copy anyone."

"As long as you confess." Having confirmed that he had no evidence, Aoyama Xiu Xin finally felt completely relieved, then he let go of him and walked out of the interrogation room, saying to Yoshikai Youzai who had been waiting outside, "Go in and take the statement."

"Aye!" Yoshikai Youzai bowed in response, walking into the interrogation room, and was startled by Beigong Liangxiong’s terrible state; Deputy Chief Aoyama really hated evil.

Beigong Liangxiong didn’t get a chance to tell Aoyama Xiu Xin the story, but he managed to tell Yoshikai Youzai everything.

Simply put, it was because he had snitched on his colleagues for slacking off to the manager when he first joined the company, and as a result, all his colleagues isolated him, even the manager didn’t like him.

Over time, they handed all the dirty and tiring work to him, often making him work overtime at night, he did not dare to resist the workplace oppression, so he transferred his anger to the customers who caused him to fix pipes in the middle of the night.

The people he killed were all customers he had visited in the middle of the night to fix their pipes, and he still insisted that he was the one who killed Mikami Yasuko, but Yoshikai Youzai did not believe such nonsense.

After leaving the interrogation room, Aoyama Xiu Xin called Asai Ayumi to inform her Beigong Liangxiong had confessed.

Just as he got back to his seat thinking he could catch his breath, a police officer burst in, "Chief Zhongshan Minggui from the Sexual Crimes Search Unit 2 was found dead at home, the investigative team is already on the scene."
