Chapter 59: Chapter 55: The Radical Faction of the Yamakawa Family, The War Begins

Aoyama Xiu Xin knew that Sangjing and Panasonic Xingzhi would not easily let go. If they could not gently wrestle Nozawa Financial Corporation from his grasp, they would resort to more ruthless means.

Especially, Panasonic Xingzhi, who at a young age had taken over the gang after Nozaki Masao’s fall, was at the very least a radical willing to fight and play hardball.

The newly minted leader was in dire need to "establish merit."

Of course, he didn’t have the courage to make a move on Aoyama Xiu Xin just yet, but he would definitely target the Yamakawa Family.

So the very next morning, Aoyama Xiu Xin made an appearance at the police station to clock in, then, under the pretext of searching for clues, went out, actually arranging to meet with Yamakawa Ichiro.

The venue was chosen by Aoyama Xiu Xin, a tea room located in Shibuya District. When Yamakawa Ichiro arrived, Aoyama Xiu Xin was fluidly going through the motions of preparing tea by hand.

"Mr. Aoyama."

Yamakawa Ichiro bowed deeply outside the private room.

"Sit," Aoyama Xiu Xin uttered a single word.

Removing his wooden sandals, Yamakawa Ichiro entered, closing the door behind him. He sat squarely opposite Aoyama, knees together, back straight, posterior resting on his heels.

Aoyama Xiu Xin poured a cup of tea and slid it toward him, saying lightly, "Last night, Noguchi Group’s new chairman Panasonic Xingzhi came to me, saying he hoped to reestablish stable cooperation with Nozawa Financial Corporation."

"Understood," Yamakawa Ichiro’s round face slightly twitched, but he didn’t rush to speak, merely acknowledging that he was listening attentively.

Taking up his teacup, Aoyama Xiu Xin drank it as if it were wine, then played with the empty cup, "What do you think?"

"The privilege to bestow your assets on anyone is yours, Mr. Aoyama, and I would be grateful for such a favor, without harbouring any resentment," Yamakawa Ichiro sincerely replied.

Aoyama Xiu Xin smiled slightly, tossing his teacup onto the table, "Panasonic Xingzhi said it’s not easy for a country bumpkin to come to Tokyo and carve out a living. I’ve given you an opportunity, but whether you can keep it depends on you. I’ve been very busy recently, so I hope not to be too occupied with the trifles beyond work."

He could give Yamakawa Ichiro food to eat, but he certainly wouldn’t chew it up and feed it to him.

After all, Yamakawa Ichiro wasn’t his real son.

If Yamakawa Ichiro couldn’t handle the trouble from the Noguchi Group, then Aoyama Xiu Xin would have to replace them.

"Understood! Please rest assured, Mr. Aoyama." Yamakawa Ichiro bowed low to the ground, earnestly promising, "I will prove the excellence of your judgment with my actions."

Aoyama Xiu Xin nodded and got up to leave.

Yamakawa Ichiro knelt to the side to send him off.

Only when the footsteps could no longer be heard did he slowly raise his head, his plump face revealing a glimpse of viciousness, his flesh seemingly more ferocious at that moment.

For the Noguchi Group, the debt collection business of Nozawa Financial Corporation was an important source of income.

But for the Yamakawa Family, the debt collection business of Nozawa Financial Corporation was the key to entering Tokyo.

The determination invested by both parties was therefore different.

Anyone in his way, Yamakawa Ichiro would crush!

He downed his teacup in one gulp and then slammed it back onto the table with a "bang," standing up and quickly leaving.

When he returned to his home in Kanagawa Prefecture, he recounted everything Aoyama Xiu Xin said in detail to his father and elder brother.

He also made his suggestion, "Father, brother, Tokyo is only so big. If we want in, others must go out. Therefore, we should take them by surprise and strike first, crippling them in one fell swoop!"

"The Noguchi Group is stronger than us. If we strike first, we will lose the room to negotiate. If we lose, we might not even be able to hold onto our current territory in Kanagawa," Yamakawa Youji, his elder brother, disagreed.

Yamakawa Ichiro immediately became agitated, his emotions running high, "There will always be excuses, but opportunities slip away in an instant! The Noguchi Group just went through turmoil, and with Mr. Aoyama’s support, this is our best and perhaps only chance to enter Tokyo! The Noguchi Group is indeed stronger than us, but precisely because of this, Panasonic Xingzhi would never expect us to dare initiate war!"

In fact, in his heart were even more radical thoughts unspoken: if he couldn’t enter Tokyo, he would rather see the Yamakawa Family destroyed than be forever trapped in Kanagawa.

"You’re being too impulsive, Ichiro!" Yamakawa Youji furrowed his brow and turned to their father, Yamakawa Zhuang, who had remained silent, "Father, the Violent Gang Countermeasures Law was just announced at the beginning of the year. Yet, we are attempting to stir up trouble in Tokyo now, which will certainly invite police crackdowns."

"Mr. Aoyama will not sit by and do nothing!" Yamakawa Ichiro argued with reason, "As long as we secure a foothold in Tokyo and demonstrate our strength and value, the Sumiyoshi Association will not ignore us!"

"Enough, Ichiro. The Mr. Aoyama you speak of is currently just a Deputy Director," Yamakawa Youji scolded with a sneer, "We have the Sumiyoshi Association behind us, but does the Noguchi Group have the Daokuan Association backing them! Ask yourself, do we hold a higher status within the Sumiyoshi Association than the Noguchi Group does within the Daokuan Association?"

"If we don’t fight for it, our status in the Sumiyoshi Association will never rise!" Yamakawa Ichiro stood up from his sitting position, his chubby face twitching with anger and excitement. He pulled open the front of his robe, revealing a tattoo on his shoulder, "We are Violent Gang members, not businessmen. If we lose the courage to bleed and fight today, we will lose everything tomorrow!"

Without violence, what could a Violent Gang use to compete for interests?

"Presumptuous!" Yamakawa Youji shouted angrily as he slammed the table, "Ichiro, you are being disrespectful in front of our father. The Yamakawa Family isn’t yours to command!"

"Enough!" Yamakawa Zhuang, who had been silent all this time, finally spoke up to stop the brothers’ argument.

Both brothers immediately lowered their heads to admit their wrongdoing.

Over fifty with graying hair and a somewhat lean figure, Yamakawa Zhuang let out a sigh, "I appreciate Ichiro’s ambition, but Youji’s words are not without reason. The Yamakawa Family can’t afford to make mistakes—the cost is too low; one wrong move could lose everything. Initiating a gang war carries too great a risk, let’s forget about it."

"Father!" Yamakawa Ichiro shouted.

Yamakawa Zhuang, however, paid him no further attention and left the council hall with the support of Yamakawa Youji.

Yamakawa Ichiro’s fists clenched tightly, his face full of unwillingness.

It took him quite some time before turning to leave.

"Big brother, what’s the boss’s opinion?"

The two trusted aides waiting outside immediately greeted him.

"My father has grown old, my older brother lacks ambition, nor does he want to see me have any, fearing that I would lead the Yamakawa family to failure in our move to Tokyo, but even more afraid of our success."

Yamakawa Ichiro, his face expressionless, answered the questions of his two aides while walking outside.

The two aides looked at each other, then quickly followed Yamakawa Ichiro. "So, we’re dropping this? But how do we explain to Mr. Aoyama? If we back down now, not only will our initial investments have been for nothing, but he might also feel dissatisfied with us."

"Drop it?" A sinister look flickered across the innocuous face of Yamakawa Ichiro as he gritted his teeth, "Of course we can’t drop it! Father and my brother are only reluctant to confront the Noguchi Group now because the situation hasn’t gotten to that point yet. After all, people are driven by necessity!"

The two aides exchanged a glance, realizing what their boss had in mind, immediately felt a surge of excitement.

"Gather our people. I have something to say."

"Yes!"

As night fell, the dazzling neon lights took over from the sun, keeping the night in Tokyo brilliantly lit.

In the Shinjuku District at Kabukicho First Street, an underground gambling den controlled by the Noguchi Group was bustling with noise.

"Idiot! Lost again!"

At the gambling table, a dyed-blonde youth who had gone with scar face to rob a bank slammed the table hard. Reaching for chips, he grasped at nothing and looking down, realized he had already lost everything.

"Hey, kid, you gonna play or not? If you’ve no money, give up your seat to me," a sleazy-looking young man patted the blonde’s shoulder, urging him on.

Of course, the blonde wanted to keep playing, but he was out of money and had to stand up with a face full of unwillingness.

Standing behind the young man and watching for a while, he became increasingly restless, his heart itching even more. If only he could get some more money, he was certain he could recover his last night’s and tonight’s losses.

After all, he had lost for two consecutive nights.

It didn’t make sense that he would keep losing.

Suddenly, an idea struck him.

Wasn’t the money from yesterday’s robbery hidden in the cellar of their hideout? They hadn’t counted exactly how much they had stolen, so if he took some quietly for himself, his brother wouldn’t notice a little missing, right?

Worst case scenario, once he won, he could put back the money he took. That wouldn’t count as embezzlement.

With his mind made up, the blonde turned and walked out.

As he stepped out, he bumped into two patrons entering, sensing that they had something like a short blade concealed on them. But the blonde, eager to get money, paid no heed and hurried off.

The two men who were bumped did not care about the blonde’s rudeness either. After aimlessly wandering around the gambling hall, they sat down to play with a few chips.

About half an hour later, Panasonic Xingzhi appeared on the second floor of the gambling den, his head wrapped in a bandage, followed by four bodyguards.

Panasonic Xingzhi leaned on the railing with both hands, looked down for a while, then led the bodyguards downstairs and walked out of the casino amidst greetings from the staff.

The two guests who had just bumped into the blonde exchanged a glance, got up without a sound, and followed.

After Panasonic Xingzhi left the bar and got into a car, the four bodyguards took another car and followed behind.

Inside the car, Panasonic Xingzhi felt a throbbing pain in his head and couldn’t help but gently touch it.

Aoyama Xiu Xin, that damn guy.

He swore he would make him pay sooner or later!

Suddenly, the car stopped, and as Panasonic Xingzhi looked up, he saw through the windshield that a box truck with hazard lights flashing was diagonally parked in the middle of the road, blocking the way, apparently broken down.

"Go ask how long it will take to fix." Panasonic Xingzhi frowned and irritably ordered.

"Yes!" The driver turned off the engine and got out of the car.

Moments later, the driver returned with a middle-aged man holding a wrench. Panasonic Xingzhi, seeing that they wanted to talk to him, rolled down the window and slightly stuck out his head.

"Bang!"

The next second, the middle-aged man’s wrench slammed down on his head, "Ah!" Panasonic Xingzhi cried out in pain and quickly shrank back, collapsing on his seat as his headband soaked with blood.

"Idiot! Quick, protect the chairman!"

The four bodyguards in the car behind saw what happened and were shocked and furious, but before they could get out, two vehicles sped towards them and crashed from the sides, diagonally blocking the car doors.

The four bodyguards were trapped inside the car.

Someone tried to climb out the window, but from the crashing vehicles, a group of men armed with clubs soon rushed out, smashing the bodyguards’ car indiscriminately.

The sound of shattering glass windows continued to ring out.

After striking Panasonic Xingzhi, the middle-aged man then knocked out the driver with a reverse hit and dragged Panasonic Xingzhi out of the car to take him away in the box truck.

As soon as the attackers had accomplished their objective, they immediately left the scene amidst the shrieks of passersby.

Leaving behind nothing but chaos.

Almost simultaneously, several entertainment venues and casinos under the Noguchi Group were attacked and vandalized.

A war between the violent gangs had begun.
