Chapter 492: Chapter 428: The Miyashita Persimmon Family, Sister’s Coercion (Vote for Monthly Tickets!)

Miyashita Naoyuki, although the biological son of Mayor Miyashita Hidekatsu, had always been treated well by his father out of affection for his mother and guilt towards him.

But still, he was not as close to him as to his aunt and uncle who raised him. He rarely visited Miyashita Hidekatsu’s house because he could always feel the condescending arrogance of Miyashita Hidekatsu’s wife and son.

He had his pride, and as an illegitimate son, particularly one without outstanding abilities, he could only endure the disdain from the legitimate wife and son, thus he avoided visiting if possible.

However, today, he made the rare decision to visit Miyashita Hidekatsu’s house early in the morning, bringing along a gift.

Miyashita Hidekatsu, as the Mayor of Sapporo City, revered by the citizens, held a prestigious and influential office. Yet his residence was not large—a small, yard-less villa, which seemed to reflect his incorruptibility.

There was only one permanent maid in the house, and the décor was tasteful but not luxurious. Even when journalists visited for interviews, they would have to mention in their articles that "the mayor lived a simple life, focused on his work, and did not indulge in personal pleasures."

In the public eye it was so, but out of the public’s sight, the mayor enjoyed a life more blissful than that of a deity.

"Ding-dong~ Ding-dong~"

Naoyuki rang the doorbell.

"Master Naoyuki, you’ve come. Please, come inside, the mayor is having breakfast," said the maid as she opened the door.

Naoyuki bowed slightly with a polite gesture, changed into slippers with the maid’s assistance, and stepped into the living room where he immediately saw his biological father’s family of four having breakfast.

"Good morning, Uncle, Aunt, Big Brother, and Little Sister," Naoyuki greeted them one by one as he approached.

It was only when he was alone with Miyashita Hidekatsu that he could call him ’Father’; otherwise, he had to address him as ’Uncle’.

Miyashita Hidekatsu asked casually, "Have you eaten?"

"Yes! I’ve eaten," Naoyuki answered.

Miyashita Hidekatsu nodded slightly and, while picking up some food, asked another question, "Do you have something you need to see me about?"

Naoyuki became momentarily silent.

"Hmph! What else could it be? It must either be you coming to ask your dear father for money or you’ve made some trouble and need him to fix it," Mrs. Miyashita glared at Naoyuki with disdain and snorted coldly.

Although she knew that Naoyuki and his "vixen" mother posed no threat to her or her son’s position, as a woman, she still found it difficult to show any kindness to her husband’s illegitimate son.

Especially since this illegitimate son often caused trouble that her husband had to clean up, making her worry if her husband might one day be implicated by him?

Mrs. Miyashita was actually quite attractive, with a well-maintained figure and charm, but after all, the wrinkles on her face couldn’t be hidden due to age. Moreover, her respectable background made it hard for her to lower her dignity and please Miyashita Hidekatsu like Naoyuki’s mother did.

So, Miyashita Hidekatsu exclusively doted on Naoyuki’s mother, the beautiful woman who, though not smart, always managed to completely relax his body and mind.

Naoyuki weakly defended himself, "Aunt, you’ve misunderstood; I really haven’t caused any trouble this time."

Mrs. Miyashita snorted coldly and ignored him.

"It’s best if you haven’t caused trouble," Miyashita Ritsuki, the eldest son of Miyashita Hidekatsu, spoke up. He glanced at Naoyuki and said with an elder brother’s indifferent tone, "You’re not young anymore. You should start doing something substantial, whether in business or in politics. The family can provide convenience for either, so stop causing unnecessary trouble and embarrassing the family."

This year he was twenty-nine years old, a whole seven years older than Naoyuki. As Miyashita Hidekatsu’s eldest son, he was raised with strict education, and he proved to be a success—intelligent and sensible from an early age, equally reassuring his family as an adult. Now, he was an Asahikawa City council member and the political heir of Miyashita Hidekatsu.

However, compared to him, Miyashita Hidekatsu had a greater fondness for Naoyuki, partly because Ritsuki had been too obedient from childhood to adulthood, always educated by various esteemed tutors, and never caused him any concern.

Consequently, the least amount of time and energy had been invested in him, which paradoxically deprived him of the sense of being a father. Naoyuki, the mischievous troublemaker, had caused him no shortage of scolding and problem-solving, making him feel closer to him.

"Yes! Big Brother’s teaching is right. I came to see Uncle today for a serious matter," Naoyuki replied to his disdainful brother, not daring to show even a sliver of his antipathy, and spoke with utmost respect.

Ritsuki did not press further; after all, he had little regard for his brother and naturally did not see any value in whatever Naoyuki called a ’serious matter’. He put down his utensils and said, "Father, Mother, and Little Sister, enjoy your meal, I must rush back to Asahikawa City soon."

Since he had never felt threatened by Naoyuki’s position, he had never really taken him seriously, showing no overt hostility in his attitude.

Yet it was precisely this contempt that often hurt the most.

"Drive safely, it’s getting cooler, remember to dress warmly when stepping out," Mrs. Miyashita repeatedly advised.

"That’s enough, he’s not a child," Miyashita Hidekatsu frowned slightly and said only one sentence, "Think things through in case of problems, and consult me anytime if you’re not sure."

"Yes!" Ritsuki bowed and left, pausing as he passed by Naoyuki, ultimately saying nothing, and walked away without looking back.

Miyashita Hidekatsu set down his utensils and said, "To the study."

"Yes!" Naoyuki promptly followed.

At the dining table, Miyashita Hidekatsu’s young daughter, Miyashita Ryouko, who was gobbling down her food, cheekily winked at Naoyuki and flashed a sweet smile.
