Chapter 361: Chapter 327: It’s Normal for Little Devils to Do Bad Things, Clues
November 11, Wednesday, overcast and rainy.
Weather can significantly affect one’s mood, and today, Aoyama Xiu Xin felt slightly downcast.
"Good morning, sister-in-law."
Dressed neatly, he stretched and headed downstairs.
"Good morning, Xiu Xin," Aoyama Haruko, busy at the dining table, turned and smiled in response before expressing her confusion, "Xiu Xin, did Youji fall asleep last night during dinner and end up lying on your lap the whole time?"
She had drunk a bit too much last night and was fuzzy on the details, but she vaguely remembered that image.
"Yes, she can’t handle her alcohol; she passed out after just a few drinks," Aoyama Xiu Xin chuckled as he shook his head.
In reality, Neitian Youji was eating while lying on his lap.
From tender care to greedy gobbling.
In the end, she was tired and speechless.
Aoyama Haruko was unsuspecting, "You can’t let her drink so much in the future. She’s still a child."
Aoyama Xiu Xin smiled silently, thinking how the "child" you’re talking about has more tricks to please men than you do.
In a few more days, she’ll be able to make children.
"Ring, ring! Ring, ring!"
During breakfast, Aoyama Xiu Xin received a call from undercover agent Nozaki Cangjian, requesting a meeting—it seemed he had found or established a new criminal syndicate.
After breakfast, he drove to the appointment.
Holding an umbrella, he reached the rooftop and saw Nozaki Cangjian from afar, standing at the edge of the rooftop under his own umbrella.
Because there was a thin layer of water on the ground.
His footsteps were very distinct as he stepped on it, and the splashing water dirtied his expensive leather shoes.
After hearing his approach, Nozaki Cangjian turned around and bowed deeply to Aoyama Xiu Xin, "Police Commissioner."
"It’s been a while, Mr. Nobita. Do you have any good news?" Aoyama Xiu Xin tossed him a cigarette.
Nozaki Cangjian caught it steadily with one hand but didn’t rush to smoke it; instead, he tucked it behind his ear.
Aoyama Xiu Xin then took out a cigarette and placed it in his mouth.
Nozaki Cangjian stepped forward to light it for him and then took a step back, saying, "I’ve infiltrated a seasoned small crime syndicate. They are currently planning a kidnapping and extortion, but they haven’t settled on a target yet."
Today, he was quite well-known in the criminal world, an elite rogue. Choosing to start his ventures could easily gather a group to join him, and joining other gangs secured him a core position easily.
"Oh?" Aoyama Xiu Xin perked up at this, laughing, "What if I suggest a target for you—Gen Dongye, the president of East Field Construction Corporation. How about we kidnap him?"
He was a person driven by proactive intentions.
He wouldn’t wait for someone to offend him before planning a counterattack or revenge; rather, he’d take the initiative to strike others to achieve his own goals.
To put it simply: he was a big villain.
And as always, the trouble was with the Japanese, and even among the Japanese, it involved those not so reputable. He felt no guilt about it.
After all, he was a little devil now.
And it’s normal for little devils to be naughty and defy human duties.
"Is Gen Dongye also a wealthy person? Would he be willing to cooperate with us in this risky venture?" It was apparent that Nozaki Cangjian misunderstood Aoyama Xiu Xin’s intention.
Aoyama Xiu Xin narrowed his eyes slightly, "I never mentioned asking for his cooperation. Since when does kidnapping involve the victim agreeing voluntarily? It would be best to dispose of him after the kidnapping."
Gen Dongye was the head of East Field Construction, and if something fatal happened to him, the shares would be inherited by Yuusei Dongye, who definitely wouldn’t be able to handle the company’s other shareholders and senior management.
It would be easier to snatch East Field Construction from Yuusei Dongye rather than from Gen Dongye himself.
"This..." Nozaki Cangjian’s face blanched.
If they really did that, it would mean he was conspiring with Aoyama Xiu Xin to commit murder—a criminal act.
But then he quickly reconsidered; ever since becoming an undercover agent, he hadn’t been shy of committing crimes, even organizing gang robberies of money transport vehicles to gain achievements.
And he was already tied to the fate of Aoyama Xiu Xin, so after the initial shock, he immediately agreed, "Sure! Please rest assured, Police Commissioner. I will try to persuade them, and after the successful kidnapping, find an opportunity to eliminate Gen Dongye."
"Mr. Nobita, well done," Aoyama Xiu Xin said with a satisfied smile, patting his shoulder earnestly, "You help me, I help you, we succeed together, and I will not let you down."
"Sure!" Nozaki Cangjian bowed deeply with a serious look and then added, "Then please, Police Commissioner, tell me more about Gen Dongye."
Aoyama Xiu Xin nodded and started to explain.
"Alright, I understand," Nozaki Cangjian said as he glanced at his watch, "I need to buy them some food; I’ll take my leave now."
"Go ahead, I wish you success, and here’s to our future achievements," Aoyama Xiu Xin waved his hand.
Nozaki Cangjian nodded, picked up his umbrella, and left.
About half an hour later, he returned with some beer and four takeout meals to an aging detached house in Shibuya District, ringing the doorbell.
"Ring, ring! Ring, ring!"
"Who is it?" came a cautious voice from inside.
"It’s me, Nobita," Nozaki Cangjian replied.
Then a muscular, topless, stout man with a buzzcut opened the door, slightly complaining as he spoke, "Took you so long to get some food, I was starving."
He took the food from Nozaki Cangjian’s hands.
"Sorry, there was a bit of traffic," Nozaki Cangjian replied helplessly, entered the house, and closed the door behind him.
There were three other people in the living room: a middle-aged man with a round face but a well-proportioned body, a young man with a big pompadour, and a bucktoothed kid.
"Brother, it’s time to eat," the crew-cut dwarf handed the first meal to the young man with a big back head.
He was the leader of the five-member gang.
"Let’s all eat," Big Back Head nodded, devouring his bento box and chugging a beer before belching contentedly, "Refreshing!"
The group ate quickly, and after having their fill, each lit a cigarette, creating clouds of smoke.
"Number Four, any progress on the bomb? These rich bastards are all scared to death, always riding in bulletproof cars. Without a bomb, we can’t threaten them."
Big Back Head turned and spoke to Bucktoothed Kid.
Bucktoothed Kid flicked his cigarette ash and smiled with a nod, "Got it. I found a bomb maker on BBS, and I’ve already placed an order with him."
"Is he reliable?" the round-faced middle-aged man frowned, the older generation not quite understanding the internet.
With a puff of smoke, Bucktoothed Kid replied, "If he dares to sell bombs, he surely knows what kind of people we are who buy them, he wouldn’t dare mess around."
He paused briefly then continued, "Not sure if he’s bluffing, but this kid told me on the phone that the bomb used in the street explosion a few days ago was his doing. It killed three and injured two; the power proves its quality."
Nozaki Cangjian’s eyes flickered when he heard this, as the police had been hunting for the maker of the bomb used in the street explosion.
"Fine," Big Back Head nodded, then extinguished his cigarette in the bento box, "Now, let’s discuss our targets. There are plenty of rich people in Tokyo."
"I have a few things to say on this," Nozaki Cangjian raised his head, "We shouldn’t kidnap those too famous; they have strong security, making the kidnapping tough. Nor should we abduct those obscure little rich people, who aren’t worth much and value money more than life; their families would likely call the police."
"If this won’t do and that won’t do, then you must have someone in mind?" Big Back Head hinted at the unspoken suggestion.
Nozaki Cangjian nodded, "When I stepped out to buy food, I saw news about East Field Construction Corporation. I think Dongye Gen is a good target, he only has a son who depends on him; his son surely won’t ignore his own father, right?"
"Any other suggestions?" Big Back Head pondered for a moment, his gaze sweeping over the other three men.
They looked at each other and all shook their heads.
With a clap, Big Back Head decided, "Fine, let’s tentatively go with Dongye Gen. Gather his information and study it well, try to get some money out of him. He’s rich; it’s time he gave back to society."
"Right!" All four responded in unison.
.........
Having arrived at Police Headquarters, Aoyama Xiu Xin soon received another call from Nozaki Cangjian, "Inspector, I’ve got a new lead, this gang has contacted a bomb supplier who claims the bomb used in the street explosion was his handiwork, though I’m not sure if it’s true."
Aoyama Xiu Xin frowned immediately, if it was true, was Oda Hikari still in Tokyo?
Despite being wanted by the police, instead of laying low, he dared to continue making and selling bombs!
That was ridiculously risky.
So, Aoyama Xiu Xin felt it was highly likely that the man was just trying to successfully sell his bombs by impersonating and boasting, probably not Oda Hikari.
But, as they say, better safe than sorry.
There had been no news from Oda Hikari, the investigation had stalled, and now that there was finally a lead, it was certainly worth verifying.
"Try to go along during the deal to see if it’s Oda Hikari," Aoyama Xiu Xin suggested.
Since Oda Hikari was nationally wanted, constantly dodging capture, he definitely couldn’t find anyone to help him.
So if it really was him, he would surely appear in person at the transaction.
Nozaki Cangjian responded respectfully, "Right!"
"Knock, knock, knock!"
Just after hanging up, his office door was knocked.
"Come in," Aoyama Xiu Xin called.
Then the door opened and Edogawa Renju entered, bowing, "Inspector, I’ve come to report!"
His transfer to Police Headquarters had been ordered.
"Yo-ho, welcome Mr. Edogawa, you are now a part of the homicide division," Aoyama Xiu Xin chuckled, standing up to pat his shoulder.
Edogawa Renju bowed saying, "It’s all thanks to your cultivation, Inspector, a great kindness which I will never forget!"
His eyes brimmed with deep gratitude.
Yet inside, he longed to bring this corrupt official, this blight on the state, to justice.
"Less of that talk; I don’t like listening to it, I only like seeing action," Aoyama Xiu Xin disclaimed with a shake of his head, "Come on, I’ll take you to meet your future subordinates in the homicide division."
Taking him to his department personally as the division chief certainly meant he valued his performance.
"Right! Thank you, Inspector," Edogawa Renju felt that helping cover up Dongye Yuusei’s crimes was against his conscience, but had to admit from Aoyama Xiu Xin’s reaction that going along with it was a good move.
Alas, Minister Nakamura was right; some sacrifices were inevitable on the path to justice.
He needed to learn to accept it.
While Sakata Nobuo and Da He Tianhui, considered a sacrifice, would strongly disagree from the underworld.
After escorting Edogawa Renju to his post, Aoyama Xiu Xin was returning to his own office when he saw the chief of the Guard Division, Ito Sumi, pacing outside his door.
"Mr. Ito," Aoyama Xiu Xin called from a distance and then asked, "Were you waiting for me?"
Upon hearing his name, Ito Shanmu looked up, quickly stepping forward to meet Aoyama, "Mr. Aoyama, you’re finally back, I’ve been waiting for a long time."
"Mr. Ito, did you run into some trouble?" Aoyama Xiu Xin inquired curiously.
Ito Shanmu nodded, sighing helplessly, "Indeed, I wouldn’t have come to you over some trifles. I’m also a member of the Xiongcheng Association, and as the president, you can’t ignore me when I’m in trouble!"
"Let’s go inside and talk," Aoyama Xiu Xin invited.
He was pleased to see the other party in trouble because it was an opportunity for him to lend a hand.
Ito Shanmu followed him into the office.
