Chapter 280: Chapter 264: Triple Kill! Visit Me in a Dream on Your Seventh Day to Explain (Three More Chapters, Ten Thousand Words, Requesting Monthly Passes!)
"You all sit, I’ll go get the door."
Mrs. Rujiang brought out the washed fruit and placed it on the coffee table, then turned to walk towards the door.
"At this hour, who knows who it is," Rujiang Chengzhi shook his head and said, before turning to the reporter and pointing to the fruit on the table, "Please, don’t be shy."
"Hi!" The reporter nodded slightly in response, then picked up a bright red apple from the fruit platter.
At the same moment, Mrs. Rujiang opened the door.
But the sight of the person outside made her go pale with shock.
It was Abe, returning once more.
Before she could even speak, Abe lifted the gun in his hand expressionlessly and pulled the trigger directly.
He had come determined to kill, and did so with ruthless efficiency.
"Bang!"
Mrs. Rujiang was struck between the brows, staggered backward, and then thudded to the ground; her eyes were wide open in shock, lips parted, her facial expression still frozen in disbelief.
The sound of the gunshot startled both men; Rujiang Chengzhi and the reporter in the living room rose to their feet, but before they took a step, Abe had already strode in.
Rujiang Chengzhi instantly went pale with shock, too panicked to grieve for his wife’s death, pleading in desperation, "Abe, listen to my explanation..."
"Bang!"
Abe, without a word, pressed the trigger again.
Rujiang Chengzhi was hit in the chest, his voice cutting off abruptly. He slowly sank back into the couch, stiffly reaching to touch his chest, and lifting his hand to see it was soaked with blood.
"Explain it to me in your dreams," Abe said coldly, and without hesitation, he fired three more shots.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
Rujiang Chengzhi’s body shook with each shot, blood pouring from his chest, but he wasn’t immediately dead, panting intermittently, his face filled with unwillingness and frustration.
He never imagined that the police wouldn’t catch Abe and his men at the same time, nor did he expect that Abe wouldn’t think of fleeing but would return to seek revenge.
He couldn’t understand the thought process of the common folk.
To think that he, himself, would die at the hands of a commoner...
He hadn’t even gone to Tokyo, hadn’t become the nationally known top lawyer; he was filled with indignation, he couldn’t accept it!
"Blugh—"
Overcome with emotion, blood rushed to his throat, he spat blood, his chest soaked completely red, and Rujiang Chengzhi’s head slumped to one side, dying with his eyes still open.
The reporter next to him had already turned deathly pale, shaking uncontrollably with beads of sweat on his forehead, and with weak knees, he collapsed onto the ground. "It... it’s got nothing to do with me!"
He was just there to do an interview.
"Bang!" Abe didn’t bother with words and pulled the trigger at him, the reporter was hit between the eyes and fell to the ground.
Only then did Abe mutter to himself, "There isn’t a single good thing about rich people, I won’t be fooled a second time."
"Uncle... Uncle, what are you doing?"
A timid, child-like voice made its way to his ears.
Abe looked in the direction of the sound and saw Rujiang Chengzhi’s daughter standing at the bottom of the stairs, clad in a pink nightgown, sleepily leaning against the handrail and looking at him.
He instinctively raised the gun and aimed it at her.
The little girl was only four or five years old, not of age to understand, just staring blankly at him.
"Go back to your room and sleep; your mom and dad are drunk," Abe said in the end, unable to bring himself to do it, putting the gun down and speaking with feigned sternness.
The little girl obediently nodded, then turned and walked away, gradually disappearing from his line of sight.
"Woo—woo—woo—"
A piercing sound of police sirens closed in from afar.
Abe knew it must be because someone arrested by the police had spilled the beans about staying at Rujiang Chengzhi’s house, and that the police, aware of the possibility of his revenge, had arrived so quickly. If he ran now, he still had a chance.
But he didn’t want to struggle anymore; he slumped down on the sofa, placed the gun on the coffee table, picked up a cigarette from there, lit it, and began to smoke.
"Rich people’s cigarettes, not bad at all."
He muttered to himself, his voice indistinct.
Through the window, the alternating flashes of red and blue police lights could be glimpsed outside.
Just as Abe had predicted, Aoyama Xiu Xin came after learning from the timid middle-aged man that they were staying at Rujiang Cheng’s house, guessing Abe might harbor a grudge and seek revenge, which was why he led a team there.
But by the time he arrived at the scene and saw the door open, with a woman’s corpse in the entryway, he knew he was too late.
All the officers got out of their cars and surrounded Rujiang Cheng’s house; however, since they weren’t sure if Abe was still inside, they didn’t rashly enter.
The reason they were certain it could only be Abe inside was that the other three had already been arrested. Their abilities fell far short of Abe’s, and without his leadership, those three alone were nothing more than a rabble.
"Abe! I am Aoyama Xiu Xin. You must have heard of me. You can’t run away. Lay down your weapons and surrender. That’s the best outcome for you now!" Aoyama Xiu Xin shouted into the house using a megaphone.
But there was no response.
"You’ve killed enough people. If you’re a man, stand up and take responsibility. Now it’s time for you to face the consequences! Don’t be a coward, only daring to kill but not to face the aftermath. Come out and surrender!"
Aoyama Xiu Xin shouted another round of words.
But still, there was no response.
"Mr. Aoyama, could he have already run away?" Chongtian Sixing whispered to Aoyama Xiu Xin, moving close to his side.
Hearing this, Aoyama Xiu Xin wasn’t sure himself.
Chongtian Sixing gestured to the officers behind him with a wave of his hand.
A team of fully armed police, holding riot shields, crept quietly towards the villa, swiftly entering the living room one by one, encountering no resistance at all.
"Report to the commander! The suspect is inside!"
Moments later, a police officer came out to report.
Upon hearing this, both Aoyama Xiu Xin and Chongtian Sixing breathed a sigh of relief, then strode into the villa.
When they entered the living room, what they saw was Abe sitting on the sofa, calmly smoking a cigarette, with two bloodied bodies lying beneath his feet, and armed police in front, the room swirling with smoke, his face as tranquil as water.
This scene still provided a bit of a shock.
"Take him away!" Chongtian Sixing ordered.
Two officers immediately rushed forward, knocking the cigarette from his mouth with brute force, sparks flying everywhere, then pressed him onto the sofa and handcuffed him. Through it all, Abe offered no resistance and did not utter a word.
As Abe was led away, the journalists who had followed the police to the arrest scene were frenziedly snapping pictures.
"Mr. Abe, do you have anything to say?"
"Do you regret your actions, Abe?"
"Do you believe you’re committing crimes, or pursuing justice? Please, share a few words with us!"
"Some say you’re a hero. Do you consider yourself a hero? What do you think you’re doing?"
Abe, who had remained silent and calm all along, stopped in front of the police car, turned to face the journalists, squinting at the bright flashlights, and then yelled, "I am not a hero! I’m just an ordinary worker. I’m fighting for fair treatment for all workers across the country in my own way! If capitalists raise your wages after I am arrested, it’s not because of a sudden bout of kindness, but because of the evils I’ve committed!"
His words set the reporters abuzz.
"Hurry, take him away!" Chongtian Sixing saw this and, furrowing his brows, shouted at his subordinates.
"Director Chongtian! Can you tell us how you managed to capture Abe and his group tonight? Can we talk about it?"
"Police Chief Aoyama, I smell alcohol on you. Is it in line with regulations to be working under the influence?"
As Abe was pushed into the car, the journalists then turned their cameras on Chongtian Sixing and Aoyama Xiu Xin.
Aoyama Xiu Xin looked at the journalist who had called him out for organizing the arrest after drinking and said in a stern voice, "Before we received the message, we were having dinner, but because we were preoccupied with the case, we did not overindulge, only had a light drink, and certainly were not drunk. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be here at the scene of the arrest, but fast asleep in the hotel!"
"After receiving the message, we rushed to the scene immediately, without even finishing our meal. Mr. Reporter, I don’t expect you to understand the hard work and danger we police officers face, but accusing us of drunkenly conducting our duties just because we reek of alcohol, isn’t that rather one-sided and arbitrary?"
Faced with Aoyama Xiu Xin’s rebuttal, the journalist turned a mortifying shade of pale, at a loss for words.
Watching the righteous Aoyama Xiu Xin, Chongtian Sixing thought about the subordinates who were probably still snuggled up with half-naked women fast asleep and felt a twinge of guilt.
Actually, the journalist’s question wasn’t wrong.
But of course, they couldn’t admit to that. After all, working while plastered and still remembering to work after having a few drinks are entirely different matters, with different implications.
