Tokyo: From Lawless Madpolice to Minister
Chapter 165 - 161: The Cunning Yoshida Tomo, Fujimoto Ryosuke’s Concerns

Chapter 165: Chapter 161: The Cunning Yoshida Tomo, Fujimoto Ryosuke’s Concerns

Half an hour later, just past 9:30 in the morning.

A Toyota van and a Mercedes sedan pulled up in front of a large jewelry shop in the Harbor District. The doors opened and seven people got out. The shop owner, accompanied by six men wearing hats and masks, walked in.

"Good morning, boss!"

The employees, seeing this, bowed and greeted warmly.

"You can all leave for today. Take the day off, and leave the keys to the counters. I’ll do an inventory check," the owner said, waving his employees off.

The employees looked at each other in confusion; they had only just arrived for work and were being sent home so abruptly.

Was this a stroke of good luck?

"What are you standing there for? Do you love your jobs that much?" the owner, worried about his wife and children, scolded them with impatience.

"Hi!"

Only then did the employees snap out of it and, after bowing to the owner, they took their belongings and left.

The shop owner then opened all the cabinets and, together with the six men, loaded up the van with all the gold, silver, and jewelry.

Passersby didn’t think much of it and made way for them, assuming the shop was relocating since who would rob a store in broad daylight?

After emptying the store, the owner locked up and got into the Mercedes. One of the thieves, acting as the driver, dropped him off at his home, while the other four drove away in the van.

The four in the van abandoned it in an alley and drove a pre-arranged Hyundai sedan back to the villa where they were staying.

"Big brother, we did it! It’s all gold!"

The four carried a bulging bag into the living room and excitedly called out to Yoshida Tomo.

Yoshida Tomo, unable to wait, grabbed the bag, unzipped it, and gold chains and bracelets spilled out, prompting a genuine smile on his face.

"Great! Great! Well done!"

He zipped it up again and asked, "Has the person been killed?"

"At this hour, he should have been killed already."

After a while, the other three thieves returned and reported to Yoshida Tomo, "We cleanly took care of the jewelry store owner and his family of three."

Not even the three-year-old child was spared.

"Awesome!" Yoshida Tomo turned to Noda, "With a murder case in the wealthy district involving a family of three, given the police’s biased favor toward the rich, Mr. Aoyama Xiu Xin and his subordinate Shinichi would likely be at the scene due to the chaos, making an excellent opportunity for you to enact your revenge, Noda. What do you say?"

He lived up to his name, having made arrangements before imprisonment and cleverly utilizing each step, even using the murder of the jewelry shop owner’s family as bait to lure Aoyama Xiu Xin and Shinichi.

"I’m on it!" Noda said without hesitation.

He wouldn’t rest until his vengeance was complete.

"Good!" Yoshida Tomo nodded, his demeanor solemn, "I’ll have someone help you, but be clear, if the assassination fails, then you must retreat immediately. You absolutely must not act recklessly."

"Understood, don’t worry Mr. Yoshida, I know. ’We can always find more wood to burn as long as the green hills last.’ I won’t get myself caught," Noda assured with a nod.

"That’s good. Actually, giving up on revenge is the best option, but I won’t advise you to do so because I understand the weight of hatred," sighed Yoshida Tomo, patting his shoulder before turning to a blonde youth, "Yoshi, go with Noda."

"Hi!" the blonde youth cheerfully responded.

Clearly, he was a frivolous and unserious person.

Yoshida Tomo told Noda, "You and Yoshi go ambush near there and familiarize yourselves with the terrain. In half an hour, I’ll call the police. Remember, if it’s not possible, retreat immediately!"

"Mr. Yoshida, thank you. Once I’ve had my revenge, my life is yours. I’ll go through fire and water for you!" Noda was overwhelmed by Yoshida Tomo’s intelligence and tactics, ready to serve him faithfully.

Yoshida Tomo smiled gently, holding Noda’s shoulders, "Noda, I don’t need you to go through fire and water for me. You see that glittering gold? I just want you to return safely, so we can all go abroad and enjoy riches together."

"Hi!" Noda bowed deeply in response.

"Go, put an end to your obsession! And Yoshi, remember to call and update me about the situation onsite so I can coordinate from here."

"Hi!"

Noda and the blonde youth then left with their handguns.

As he saw the door close, Yoshida Tomo’s smile slowly faded, and his voice became low, "Let’s go."

"Big brother, we’re giving up on Noda, but are we really abandoning Yoshi too?" one person, unable to stand it, asked.

"Are you questioning my decision?" Yoshida’s gaze grew cold and stern, but he sighed and explained; "If I didn’t send someone with Noda, he’d become suspicious. Besides, Yoshi is too impulsive and frivolous; if he can’t endure the loneliness on the run, it might cost all of us our lives."

He had never intended to take Noda with them.

After learning of Noda’s hatred for Aoyama Xiu Xin while in prison, he had altered his plan.

Once he made the call, with Aoyama Xiu Xin onsite, Noda’s gunfire would create chaos, drawing the attention of the entire police force, while they could pose as police and leave Tokyo cleanly.

If Aoyama Xiu Xin didn’t show up and Noda didn’t shoot, he would still call to report their hideout, and when Noda and Yoshi returned, they’d inevitably clash with the police surrounding the area.

That would also serve to distract the police, covering their escape from Tokyo.

From the very beginning, Noda had been an unwitting pawn, completely unaware and thankful to him.

After all, the original plan included only ten people, so he had prepared just ten police uniforms.

There was none intended for Noda.

Now, however, an extra one was superfluous.

Hearing this, everyone fell silent.

Although he felt troubled by the sacrifice of a brother, it was still better than them not being able to escape.

At worst, he’d burn more paper offerings for him during the holidays.

"Let’s go, grab the stuff and head to Safe House No. 2."

Yoshida Tomo put on a mask and hat and got up.

Safe House No. 2 wasn’t far from here, the modified police car and prepared police uniforms were all there.

.........

Half an hour later, the 110 emergency center received a citizen’s report about a murder case in a villa in the Harbor District, where a family of three was wiped out, and it was immediately transferred to the Police Headquarters.

As Yoshida Tomo had predicted, the Police Headquarters took a high degree of interest in the murder case in the wealthy district and assigned it to Aoyama Xiu Xin’s homicide investigation team.

But contrary to Yoshida Tomo’s expectation, Aoyama Xiu Xin had been up all night attending to Hashimoto Miho and was yawning incessantly, too lazy to move. He simply ordered Deputy Director Fujiwara Takahiro to take two people to check the situation on the scene.

He himself continued to nap in his office.

Upon receiving the order, Fujiwara Takahiro immediately took Fujimoto Ryosuke and two others to the site.

"Mr. Fujimoto, what’s wrong, something on your mind?"

On the way to the scene, Fujiwara Takahiro noticed Fujimoto Ryosuke was distracted and asked.

"Huh?" Fujimoto Ryosuke snapped back to reality, somewhat unnaturally said, "No... it’s nothing."

"I see you haven’t been yourself lately, Mr. Fujimoto. Do you want to take some time off to rest?" Fujiwara Takahiro asked with concern.

Fujimoto Ryosuke took a deep breath, "Thanks for your concern, Deputy Director, I’m fine, it won’t affect my work."

The reason he was distracted was because he had discovered the identity of Iihara Aiko’s family—she was the pregnant woman he had killed. He initially thought of offering some compensation to her family to alleviate his guilt.

But to his surprise, Iihara Aiko’s father turned out to be the Chief Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Iihara He!

The Ministry of Finance is equivalent to the national treasury.

The Chief Cabinet Secretary is in charge of the comprehensive management of the general administrative affairs of the Ministry of Finance, bridging the Minister of Finance and various bureaus, keeping the seal of the Minister of Finance, reviewing administrative documents and accounting affairs of the ministry, and supervising local financial bureaus as well as fiscal condition surveys.

He also is responsible for producing statistical data related to domestic and international financial economies and publishing materials in this field.

He holds significant power, only below the Minister of Finance, Administrative Vice Minister, and Deputy Minister, truly the fourth in command.

Had he really killed the daughter of such a high-ranking official?

And his grandchild too.

Fujimoto Ryosuke was both shocked and afraid, yet also confused—why had there been no news for so many days after the death of such an important person’s daughter?

It was as if the murder case didn’t exist at all.

Fujimoto Ryosuke had been eating and sleeping poorly recently, terrified of being exposed and retaliated against by Iihara He and of being silenced by Asai Youki, and he had lost several pounds due to the stress.

They soon arrived at the crime scene, where a police cordon was already set up, with many onlookers present.

Fujiwara Takahiro was the first to get out of the car.

"Damn! Neither Aoyama Xiu Xin nor Nakamura Shinichi showed up!" Noda, who had been secretly preparing to take a potshot, was utterly disappointed upon seeing several unfamiliar faces.

He had missed his chance for revenge.

Yellow Hair, however, didn’t mind since he didn’t have a personal vendetta against Aoyama Xiu Xin or Nakamura Shinichi, and he preferred not to have a conflict with the police, "Let’s pull back quickly then."

Noda could only suppress his disappointment and get in the car.

Following the instructions Yoshida Tomo had given before leaving, Yellow Hair called his boss. "Big brother, neither Aoyama Xiu Xin nor Nakamura Shinichi showed up, Noda and I are preparing to return."

"Be careful on the road," said Yoshida Tomo, now clad head-to-toe in a SWAT uniform that only showed his eyes, from the safety of Safe House No. 2.

"Don’t worry, big brother, I’ll hang up first."

"Yeah, you hang up first," Yoshida Tomo said with a wistful smile, then let out a sigh and dialed 110 again, "I have spotted the group of escaped prisoners, they are at... make sure to come quickly, do not let them escape!"

After hanging up, he smashed the phone and turned to his eight fully armed subordinates. "Everyone, turn off your gun safeties, load your weapons, let’s move out, leave Tokyo!"

Even though they were impersonating police officers, they had to be ready for combat at any moment.

"Hi!" everyone responded in unison.

Then three police cars, untraceable in the system, drove out of the garage with their sirens flashing.

At the Police Headquarters, Asai Ayumi pushed open the door and walked into Aoyama Xiu Xin’s office, abruptly pulling him up from the couch, "Stop sleeping! We’ve received news about a sighting of Yoshida Tomo and his four partners, if you sleep any longer, you won’t even get soup, let’s get moving!"

"That soon?" Aoyama Xiu Xin was surprised, considering Yoshida Tomo’s meticulous planning in successfully escaping prison, it was odd that they would be discovered so quickly.

It had only been a damn day!

He further asked, "Where’s the news from? Can we make sure it’s reliable? Hope it’s not a wild goose chase!"

"Without any clues right now, we have to check it regardless of its authenticity," Asai Ayumi said and then added, "Don’t worry, the police forces set up at the city exits won’t be moved, even if it’s a diversion, they can’t escape. Yoshida Tomo wouldn’t overlook this, so I think the source of the news should be credible."

Aoyama Xiu Xin thought there was some truth to that and immediately straightened his collar, "Then I’d better go take a look."

If the news was true, he would be in deep trouble otherwise.

"Why are you wearing a bulletproof vest?" Asai Ayumi asked, noticing the vest through the gaps between his shirt buttons.

Aoyama Xiu Xin certainly couldn’t admit he was afraid.

Instead, he responded with dignified authority, "Of course, because I’m always ready to jump into frontline battle, serve the country, and remain loyal to Heavenly Locust. Is there a problem?"

Mr. Aoyama’s awareness was as high as a three-story building.
