Chapter 233: Symphony of Sorrow-II

Chapter 233: Symphony of Sorrow-II

It was the first time for Arabella to take a close look at Hans, the man who would elope with princess Marissa by night. The man seemed to have came here to patrol, though she could see his gaze overseeing the dungeon, as though he was pondering in life.

"Be careful, there’s a puddle of water." Renard cautioned her and seeing the puddle under her feet, Arabella managed to dodge aside though Hans didn’t do the same and instead stomped on the puddle, standing still on it as they looked at the dungeon.

"This place is as grim as ever," said Hans and Renard turned,

"Have you been here before? I thought the fourth troop rarely ever come to this side of the castle."

Hans nodded his head, "I was here before in the past when I was still in training. That time I spent most of my time here guarding this place."

Arabella had questioned why he would be pondering here in the dungeon but now understood that he had worked her before and perhaps was taking a walk down the path of nostalgia by looking over the places he once worked at.

"Miss Arabella which cell is it?" Renard curiously quoted.

"The one at the end of this hallway..." and when Arabella saw the cell a smile appeared on her lips, wide and delighted but before she could come closer, her eyes narrowed as she caught the sight of Donna on the cold ground, her entire body covered in bruises and wounds.

She rushed to the cell as Hans quickly maneuvered to take the keys and opened the cell for her. Once inside, Bella rushed to her friend, her eyes narrowing, "What happened?" She then turned to Renard, "Cassius told me that you would made sure she would be alright inside the cell. That no one else would be beaten without a reason."

Renard who could smell the piercing scent of blood frowned, he turned toward the guards and his anger crossed his face, "Those bastard couldn’t even follow a single order. My deepest apologies Miss Arabella, I shall make sure they learn their lesson-"

"No, don’t make a fuss," Donna groaned, lifting her face upward with an annoyed expression on her face. "It wasn’t the guards who hit me. It’s that bitch."

Arabella blinked then she narrowed, "Iliza?"

"Damn right," Donna moved as she cried out a muffled groan. When Arabella lifted that side of her hand she found how horribly bruised it was and Renard who had came closer inspected it for her only to shake his head.

"We need to get treatment now. Her arm is broken."

The three moved toward the doctor room, a place that had looked more like a laboratory than a place to heal and rest.

Many glass and jars filled the place and the first to refuse entering was Hans, "I don’t quite like this place."

Arabella looked at the animals cut and pinned inside the glass along with the rest of human organs which would explain his refusal.

"That will be fine," Renard answered, "Earlier you have also said that you have to go back to your own work so you may leave."

Hans nodded and turned to Arabella before bowing his head in politeness and then leaving the place for good.

Then a fearful man walked out, speaking in such a low whisper one couldn’t have caught it if they hadn’t focused on listening to the smallest sound.

"W- W- What can I help you with..."

"Broken arms and other wounds," Renard explained, bringing the human doctor aside.

Arabella stared at the doctor as from what she had recalled there wasn’t any human doctor around. Did Cassius brought this doctor after her? Or was it a coincidence?

She returned to Donna who was grabbing to her arms in pain and frowned carefully, "Tell me what happened. Why does this have to do with Iliza?"

"Haven’t you seen her around? She boast how every time she walks out of the dungeon every vampires were dying to have her as their pet to adore."

Arabella sighed, "If is she is adored, she wouldn’t have still worn those slave dress, don’t you think?"

"Right," Donna sighed, "They probably wanted her because she seems fun to play with. To vampires humans like her who is far too greedy and foolish is so much fun after all."

"I haven’t seen her much but I knew who had taken her in," Arabella explained. The last time she had seen Iliza was ended in such a bad note and since then she hadn’t heard much or seen Iliza around.

"Let me tell you what she has became," Donna leaned and though in pain her words were filled with such energy that came from her anger. She gritted her teeth and spoke, "She told me that I have looked down on her which I did but not for the reason that I see her as lower class than I but the fact that she has no loyalty bone inside of her. You didn’t know but I do, the first time she came here just so she wouldn’t be picked to go and meet the Queen she had pushed another girl who then died. She even nominated another girl to be taken, saying she’s ill when she was just allergic to the herb used for the bread in this castle. She knew all of this and she knew how the girl would be killed for being ill but there wasn’t a single hesitation from her as she pushed that girl to her death."

Arabella frowned as she didn’t know this at all. Only now did she understood that Iliza wasn’t turn a terrible person due to their situation, rather she had always been such person.

"Then what had she done to you?" Arabella frowned, "These wounds."

"Well that boorish woman came with two vampires. His face was utterly revolting and if that wasn’t enough he demanded to have toys to play with."

Arabella furrowed her eyebrows, "Two vampires? Blonde haired?" She guessed and Donna nodded.

"The other one is a minister," added Donna. "That specific one is more horrendous than that blonde vampire. He looked at humans like they’re a bug but didn’t hesitate to kick aside humans or pull one for the blonde vampire to choose and have fun with."

That sounded clearly like minister Rueben and Lucien. Both of them are not quite on the same side but as their goal align, they have turn to an ally it seems.

"Then?"

Donna sighed, "I tried stopping Iliza and reminded her that she was one of the girls in the dungeon- that she’s no different and that she shouldn’t have been the one who propose the idea to those vampires to have ’fun’ with humans. Then she got very upset and turned to her master, telling him to punish me and choose me instead."

Arabella clicked her tongue, "Iliza had gone too far. But how do you know that she was the one who had given the idea of playing with humans to the vampires?"

"How could I not? Those vampires stated it and she confirmed it proudly. She even said that she would be presented with a gift as she had managed to make her master happy. A dog she is." Spat Donna.

"Did any of the girls got taken?" Bella asked as Donna shook her head.

"I don’t know what happened but suddenly one of the vampire decided to stop. Oh I suppose it’s because of that human. A prince. He winked at me, ew."

"Is his name Malvo?"

"Yes! That is his name," Donna snapped her finger. "But I don’t think he’s a good person. He’s weird..."

"He is weird." Arabella agreed. "He said a lot of weird things to me as well."

"No, not that. I couldn’t tell whether he meant good or bad. He’s odd and I don’t know what idea he said which made those two vampires change their mind but I doubt it’s anything good. Only worse idea than hurting a human would make them change their mind and I don’t know what that one had said."

Arabella sighed and then looked at her arms, "At least you are alright."

"Yes once you become the queen I suggest you take their heads first. Not to brag but my mother was a fortune teller and that allows me to see through people and their innermost thoughts."

"A fortune teller..." Arabella took a look at her eyes and realized only now that it wasn’t green.

"Oh you don’t trust me," Donna said and Arabella chuckled.

"Of course I trust you, but wait- queen? Who said I’ll be-"

"Anyway who was that human knight you came with? He seems nice but I don’t know," said Donna with a frown as the doctor came to check her wound, causing her to pause. When it was done she added, "He smells like... the ground and mud. He seems nice but he also seems scary."

Arabella paused and stared at her, "Hans you mean?"
