Chapter 227: Brother’s Wish-I

Chapter 227: Brother’s Wish-I

Arabella woke up with a jump.

She blinked as her blurred eyes tried to focus its lenses, her gaze finally coming together to see the bright light from the sky and the bird chirping happily as if to greet her awake.

Then a soft meow resounded from underneath the bed and slowly she pushed herself to sit up, the white blanket covering her slipped and only then did she noticed how she was naked.

Softly, she pulled the blanket over her shoulders and sat quietly as she stared at the window outside, the luscious green leaf on the tree that were still wet with dew, and the shine of sun that was as yellow as a yolk.

She stayed quiet, enjoying the peace and the gentle shine from the sun as she wondered what was it that she had dreamt.

It felt like a horrible dream.

Blood. Chaos.

But what hits her more than those blood she had seen was Cassius’s face.

She recalled seeing in her dream how Cassius’s eyes were bloodshot, anger crossed his face as he bent down, picking the bloody mess.

Her heart grew uneasy the more she found that she couldn’t remember her dream clearly, as if she should remember it, that she should know and that not knowing would cause something dangerous to them.

But no matter how hard she tried to think and pull her memories together, she found herself unable to recall a single bit of it, instead the dream felt as if it was moving further from her hands, completely turning white.

Sighing, Arabella slowly walked down from the bed, her feet jumping to the ground as she dragged the blanket over her body.

When Lala walked under her, she smiled, "Good morning."

Meow.

Lala greeted her back happily but the cat’s face didn’t seem happy, as if she was upset after looking at her.

Wondering what it was, Arabella stood in front of the window to find kiss marks all over her body. Her skin red, her face glowing although she does look a little exhausted.

Then the memories of last night filled her head, hitting her like ocean waves.

She recalled how she had straddled on Cassius’s legs. How she had ruffled his hair as he moved inside her.

Then her cheeks turned even redder when she recalled how she had gasped for more and how Cassius seemed utterly satisfied, his handsome man turning her even more.

Embarrassed by what she had thought, Arabella crouched to the ground, covering her cheeks with her cold hands. She schooled herself, telling her own head not to get too creative but the more one tried to forget what they had done out of embarrassment, as if to punish her, her head recollect even more embarrassing scene of her last night.

"Hm," Cassius’s voice echoed as he stood outside the door, clearly watching her which startled Arabella’s entire body.

She turned to him and saw him smile.

"I thought you wouldn’t be able to walk."

She rolled her eyes, "I can," and then saw his hand reached out toward her which she took with a faint smile.

Upon seeing his face closer to her, embarrassment filled her head and she pursed her lips, "Uhm," Not knowing what to say she chose any topic that jumped in her head, "Tomorrow Princess Marissa will be leaving the castle."

Cassius blinked and his eyes turned complicated for her to read.

"I remember," he noted, "I’ll make sure that she could leave the place without anyone stopping her."

"She said she have someone to help her," Arabella added the information to find him grin.

"Do you think she would have been able to dream of leaving if I didn’t tweak her escape route?" Cassius sat down on the bed, bringing her over. "I was the one who bribed everyone there so she could leave tomorrow."

"What about the Queen and King?" Arabella inquired. After Marissa’s departure wouldn’t they try to bring her back by force?

"The Queen would be happy to get rid another candidate to the heir for her soon to be baby while my father would try," he then shrugged, "He won’t succeed as long as I’m alive."

So this was how the siblings care for each other.

Not by words, not by obvious action, but by protecting each other from behind the scene. It must have been tough for the siblings to show their care for one another, knowing that such bond could be used against them by someone like Morgana.

Perhaps their distance was in a way, their own way of caring for one another.

"Still," Arabella reached out her hand to his, gently placing it on top of his palms. "I think that you have to talk to her, just once. Not for anything, just to... say goodbye?"

Cassius studied her face and he could tell from it that Arabella must have seen something he couldn’t about himself. He closed his red eyes and his smile appeared, "Alright, since you have asked me so nicely."

And she smiled at him.

"How are you? I didn’t push you too much did I?" He then questioned, gently rubbing her back.

She shook her head, "It’s all good, but where were you? You didn’t sleep at all did you?"

"I did sleep," he answered and she suspected his sleep was barely more than ten minutes. "I just went to the meeting. Since the date for the human hunt is rolling, those vampires became even more bloodthirsty and they have since begged for the date of the human hunt to be moved closer."

Arabella frowned, "I don’t think the human hunt is a good idea."

"I agree," Cassius said firmly, "That is why the current human hunt would not be about killing or devouring anymore."

Arabella blinked, staring at him in a daze, "What? But wasn’t it usually about vampires chasing and hunting the humans?"

"Indeed but that is far too bloody. As you have told me before, the cycle of hatred won’t end if we aren’t the one to cut it first. Thus the human hunt becomes a hunt between vampires against each other. Not to eat, not to kill, just for fun like a game of tag."

"But how did you managed to make everyone agree?" Arabella furrowed her eyebrows, "They wouldn’t have agreed to it would they?"

Vampires seemed to look so forward to the human hunt, seeing it as a way to show their power and those vampires who even sees human as nothing but disposable vultures would have been overjoyed with the hunt thus disagree even strongly upon finding out that the human hunt would be changed.
