Thriving in the Beast World -

Chapter 116: Chapter 116: The Disaster Strikes 2
Gaiyin placed a beast skin directly over his head, and presented the backpack to Su Tang like he was presenting a treasure, "Guess what I found?"
Su Tang peered curiously inside and was surprised to see a whole basket of Gugu eggs.
She cheerfully accepted the basket, "Where did you find these? Weren’t all the local Gugu beasts wiped out?"
Seeing Su Tang’s bright smile, Gaiyin started to relax, a near-invisible smile tugged at the corners of his lips.
"Gugu beasts are very smart, some of them managed to hide away. The heavy rain destroyed their nests, and I stumbled across them! I didn’t see any Gugu beasts, just these eggs. So, I brought them back because I knew you’d like them!"
Su Tang looked into Gaiyin’s eyes, a sincere smile stretching across her face, "Thank you, Gaiyin."
During the dark hours before dawn, Su Tang sat on the bed, lost in deep thoughts.
She methodically sorted through her feelings for Gaiyin. There was dependency, but there was also affection. Her affection had birthed this dependency.
The sudden intrusion of the wall-crawler beast into her cave made Su Tang realize this was a world of beastmen, teeming with dangers. Every creature and plant here was vastly different from those in her memories!
Even though she had a system, which was almost akin to a cheat code, she recalled a phrase from a book she had read on Blue Star - Who knows which will come first, tomorrow or an accident.
Indeed, the system had been of great help to her on the Beastman Continent, allowing her to stand firm in the Winged Tiger Tribe.
However, when truly faced with danger, Su Tang wasn’t sure if the system could actually save her.
Most importantly, she didn’t want to ignore her feelings for Gaiyin any longer. She had affections for him and she didn’t want to regret it if someday she returned to Blue Star!
So, let it be. Her affection for Gaiyin was her own business. If Gaiyin found a partner one day, she would leave him be!
...
Their dinner was simple, boiled Gugu eggs and chestnuts.
Having stayed in the cave all day without much activity, Su Tang didn’t have much appetite. She could only eat one egg and two chestnuts before she felt full.
Gaiyin, on the other hand, ate a whole pot of chestnuts. Luckily, there were plenty of chestnuts in her space.
After dinner, Su Tang was strolling around the cave when she suddenly felt a wave of dizziness, her body swaying unsteadily.
She turned to look at Gaiyin, "Did you feel that? It felt like something was shaking!"
Gaiyin frowned deeply and suddenly stood up, heading for the cave entrance.
Su Tang was puzzled but followed anyway.
But the sight outside the cave made Su Tang shudder.
Hundreds and thousands of wall-crawlers were braving the heavy rain, crawling in a certain direction. The ground was densely packed with them. It was such an eerie sight that it sent chills down her spine!
Upon seeing this, Gaiyin’s frown deepened!
"Wall-crawlers dislike water. That’s why they crawl into caves when it rains. Where are they headed?"
While Gaiyin was speaking, Su Tang felt the shake once more! Assuming it to be an illusion once or twice seemed plausible, but now coupled with the unusual behaviour of wall-crawlers, Su Tang felt a chill in her heart!
Just as she was about to say something, Gaiyin suddenly drew her into his arms, sternly warning, "Be careful!"
As soon as his words left his mouth, a fist-sized rock rolled down from the top of the mountain and hit where Su Tang had been standing just a second ago.
Su Tang looked at the rock dumbstruck, and then at the wall-crawlers scurrying away - a bad feeling started to intensify in her heart!
Suddenly she remembered what Yadang had told her before.
