This Life, I Will Be the Protagonist -
Chapter 684 - 684: 684: Divine Game – Chaotic Blocks 75
"And every player gets a different gacha rule at the same Event Gift Pack. The price to play also varies from player to player."
Rita: "Are the rules harsh?"
B8017913: "Some require ten total purchases. Some only end once you pull a Perfect Relic Shard. The harshest one I saw demanded a full seven-piece relic fragment for every spin… but that player didn't look disappointed after opening the capsule."
Rita got the message. If a gacha cost that much, the prize inside must be worth it.
Still, B8017913 didn't offer a conclusion, only observations. It didn't want to mislead her—though it also knew even if it did make a claim, Rita would double-check it herself.
B8017913 turned to her: "You gonna spin?"
Rita shook her head. "Not now. We still need our Blocks. I don't know what game Verdant Whisper · Windrush will drag me to next. Best to hold on to as many as I can."
Even if the Event Gift Packs had unbinding items inside, Rita wasn't about to throw money at a random chance.
"Spending for a gamble? Absolutely not. We do not leave our fate up to chance! Remember, our family motto is: 'Get rich through hard work and stability.'"
Just as she finished saying that, a Fat Duck waddled up and stopped right in front of her. It turned slightly, revealing the elegant gacha machine strapped to its back.
The machine was rectangular, its base and straps resembling puffy white clouds, reminding Rita of Deceitful Bloom. The rest shimmered like flowing water. Though transparent, it had a shifting, liquid quality, like you could just reach in and grab one of the egg-shaped capsules inside.
Rita lowered her head, meeting the duck's gaze.
The Fat Duck spoke in a cheery, crisp tone: "Ten pulls for only 188g Blocks! Wanna give it a shot? Big prizes include Universal Fragments, Forceful Unbind, I'm Done With This Minigame, and Event Gift Boxes!"
B8017913 turned its head to look at the hand suddenly resting—then tightening—on its shoulder: ???
Rita whispered, "How many g Blocks do we still have?"
"With the food allowance you gave me earlier, 5,430g." After answering, B8017913 shot back, "Isn't our motto about getting rich through hard work?"
Rita kept a straight face. "That's the first family motto. We have a second one."
Even the Fat Duck gave her a sideways glance now.
Rita: "The second family motto is: Forget the first one."
B8017913: ...
Fat Duck: ...
But before spending a single Block, Rita needed answers.
She opened her Space Pirate Ship and waved B8017913 onboard. Then she beamed at the Fat Duck: "Wanna chat while cruising?"
The duck looked stunned. It had only walked over out of curiosity, seeing BS-Rita—currently all the buzz—and figured it'd try offering a gacha spin.
And now, somehow, it was going for a joyride.
Flying full speed through the Month Theme Park to avoid eavesdropping players, Rita asked bluntly: "Are those rewards you mentioned really in there? And what's your gacha rule?"
Fat Duck: "They're real. We don't do false advertising. My rule is: if you want to buy from me, you have to purchase at least 200 capsules."
Rita: "How many do you have total? Has anyone bought from you before?"
The duck tilted its head slightly, a flicker of amusement in its eyes. "I've got 1,000 capsules. No one's bought any yet."
Rita: "What if I get pulled into a game before I can finish spinning?"
Fat Duck: "The capsules can be stored in space items. If you don't collect them in time, I'll hold them for you."
Rita: "How do you restock your gacha inventory?"
Fat Duck: "I don't have to answer that… but it's no secret. We restock by participating in games."
Rita accelerated, turning hard and parking behind a vending machine where no players were in sight.
In BS-code, she asked one last question: "Can I use my 90% discount voucher to buy your entire stock?"
The Fat Duck let out a low, amused quack. "Yes."
Rita confirmed again: "All 1,000 capsules—total cost 18,800g Blocks. That amount qualifies for a 90% voucher, right?"
Fat Duck: "Correct." The system would automatically cover the rest—it wouldn't lose anything.
"I'll take all 1,000!" Rita waved at B8017913. "Start unloading the Blocks!"
Fat Duck turned to B8017913: "Just throw them on me. Start with the Blocks, voucher last."
B8017913 tossed one to test. As it hit the duck's body, the Block vanished instantly, like a red-hot coal into snow.
The Fat Duck hopped off the ship and placed the gacha machine near the entrance. "Where do you want the capsules? Can I pour them into your ship?"
Rita eyed the machine. Definitely looks like it has potential.
She asked, "You all just carry these things around? Aren't you afraid of someone stealing them?"
B8017913 had a feeling she left out a few words. Probably meant: "Aren't you afraid of me stealing them?"
Fat Duck was unfazed: "You're not registered. Even if you steal it, you can't use it. No one without ownership can wear the machine or load capsules. No skill can affect it, either."
That was a safeguard built by Deceitful Bloom, specifically to prevent gods or players from hijacking them.
Rita: "Can other Event Gift Packs like you steal from my gacha?"
Fat Duck: "No. No skill can tamper with loaded capsules. We know what you pull, but the draw itself is entirely fair."
Rita: "I don't buy it. Not even game rules can touch this thing?"
Fat Duck frowned. "Of course not. This is a Deceitful Bloom design."
Rita's eyes gleamed. "You set your own gacha rules, too?"
Fat Duck: "Yep."
Rita said, "Tell you what—besides the 18,800g for the capsules, I'll add 620g to make it an even 2,500. Sell me the whole gacha machine. Deal?"
Then she raised her hand suddenly. "Wait—let me rephrase. 6,200g Blocks total! That's 620g after discount, but you receive the full 6,200g."
The duck said nothing.
Rita asked, "So? Not for sale?"
Fat Duck stroked its chin, thinking it over.
The gacha machine had been handed out for free, a collaboration between Deceitful Bloom and The Drummer.
And technically… no one ever said it couldn't be sold.
