Chapter 248 - 242: Luck Has Finally Arrived
Chapter 248: Chapter 242: Luck Has Finally Arrived
As Su Youyi finally defeated the last Sword Array illusion, and Yu Gejing untied the last knot of the Array, both of them were already mentally exhausted.
Yu Gejing was even too tired to speak. She could only lean on Su Youyi for support as they both recovered their strength.
They had fought countless battles along the way; Su Youyi faced the enemies, Yu Gejing decoded the Arrays, and their cooperation was seamless. Moreover, the challenges did not exceed their limits but instead provided perfect trials for them.
After reflecting on the insights gained just now, the benefits they received would be far more useful than any inheritance of Daoist Skills.
Before them floated a Great Formation, interlinked by four complex Arrays, and in its center was an ancient-looking sword scabbard with a simple pattern etched onto it.
"Is this the scabbard of Sword One senior?" Yu Gejing shared a glance with Su Youyi, feeling that it must be correct.
Su Youyi, with a somewhat dazed expression, gazed at the old scabbard, feeling two very familiar Sword Intents coming from it.
"Is this... the Sword Intent from the Taoist Sect’s sword scripts?"
Su Youyi quietly activated the Sword Intent she had yet to master, and the scabbard within the Array quivered as if it had sensed something.
"What’s going on?"
Yu Gejing looked at the trembling scabbard, and then at Su Youyi beside her.
"This is an artefact of one of my predecessors, but I never expected to see it here," Su Youyi explained, though Yu Gejing, not fully understanding, couldn’t comprehend her words at the moment.
"So, we just need to take this scabbard back with us?" Yu Gejing had already inspected the surroundings during their rest and found no dangers.
Regarding the Arrays surrounding the scabbard, they were simply condensed versions of what she had already decoded along the way, posing no issue for her now.
How could she possibly fall for the same Array twice?
Watching Yu Gejing as she started to unlock the Array, Su Youyi felt doubtful but didn’t speak up to stop her. Just now, upon seeing the scabbard, it seemed that a thought had flashed through her mind, yet she couldn’t recall it now.
While Yu Gejing was busy with the Array, Su Youyi found a clean spot to sit and regulate her breath, aiming for a quick recovery to be ready for any unexpected situations.
The clouds in the sky were not clustered together but scattered, causing the drizzle to fall unevenly.
Yet behind a cluster of clouds, the one silently observing the two on top of the mountain peak, "Sword One," was ecstatic! He hadn’t imagined that after thousands of years of bad luck, his fortune would finally turn. Truly, fortune comes with time!
He crafted this lie, borrowed the name "Sword One," and switched identities with the real Sword One to make these three fools break his seal.
This majestic mountain existed because the entire mountain was part of his physical form.
The endless peach blossom forest represented his Divine Soul, signifying his everlasting Vitality.
The Icefield and the heavy snow were but a trivial display of his leaked power; his true power could plunge the entire world into a frigid winter!
He is Cang Dong, birthed by the will of the Abyss!
In that past battle, Sword One thought that Cang Dong sought him out specifically because, as long as he was present, not a single minion from the Abyss could ever step foot onto the Mystical Mechanism Continent.
But who would know, Cang Dong had just been born, was fed up with the stuffiness of the Abyss, and merely wanted to step out for a breath of fresh air, never expecting to find a Slaughter God waiting right outside his door! Yet, he couldn’t just admit defeat to Sword One by claiming he only wanted some fresh air and had no intention of harming the people of the Mystical Mechanism Continent.
Sword One didn’t care about the true purpose; as far as he was concerned, exterminating any creature from the Abyss was the right thing to do. If pressed for a reason, it was that every breath these Abyssal beings took polluted the air; they were better off dead.
Even though Cang Dong howled under Sword One’s relentless assault, as an entity with Abyssal characteristics, being unkillable was routine for him; he was extremely resilient.
Once Sword One realized that he couldn’t kill this annoying being for good, he stopped wasting his effort. With a few quick slashes, he created a small world in the Void, divided Cang Dong into three parts, stuffed him inside, and even used his Immortal Sword’s scabbard to suppress him thoroughly.
Thus, without ever seeing the Mystical Mechanism Continent, Cang Dong was sealed away for millions of years, through an entire epoch, still trapped in this small world.
The very moment he was born, Cang Dong realized that he had been created, but he didn’t care.
As long as he could recombine the three parts of his sealed power, he would be able to reconnect with the Abyss to regain his unfailing nature.
Even if the Illusion Realm shattered, he would survive and use this opportunity to emerge in the Third Epoch and awaken the Abyss Will. And the cost was just a temporary loss of power, after all, it was Tai Hua Xi Yi who created him as he is now.
But even if he revived, he could only be considered a split part, as his true body was still sealed in the Abyss during the Third Epoch. However, he was unconcerned; everything was for the Abyss.
The three seals: his power sealed in the Snow Domain — where Sword One’s main force lay; his Divine Soul sealed in the peach blossom forest — Sword One’s most cherished place; and his flesh suppressed under the most ingeniously designed seal.
A Sword Array covering his whole body was something few could unlock in any epoch, yet these two freaks, one Sword Cultivator and one Array Repairer, managed to break it forcefully.
In Cang Dong’s view, this was simply impossible. If every Sword Cultivator and Array Repairer could easily break the Sword Array, then the Array’s name would be in vain.
The most crucial point of this seal was the sword scabbard; that was the true location where Sword One’s Sword Intent was concentrated. Touch it and die! When Sword One sealed Cang Dong, he never intended to undo the seal, so anyone who tried to interfere with the scabbard would face a lethal blow from the Sword Intent.
Cang Dong’s original plan was to use the Essence Blood of the two dying girls to cast a tremendously costly Secret Technique in order to contaminate the sword scabbard. Unexpectedly, the girl with the fairy-like grace shared the same origin with Sword One’s Sword Intent, which made the scabbard recognize her as having Sword One’s authorization.
How marvelous! Simply too marvelous!
Just as Cang Dong was so excited that he almost danced in the clouds, an accident occurred.
The scabbard, originally silent and tranquil, seemed to detect that the origin of the Sword Intent was not its true master. Like an enraged sovereign deceived, it vowed to make these two pay with their lives!
It was merely a scabbard, yet both Su Youyi and the collapsed Yu Gejing could feel the overwhelming anger and killing intent radiating from it!
"Not good!" Su Youyi was taken aback by the scabbard’s movement and suddenly realized that the scabbard intended to kill Sister Yu.
Yu Gejing, who was closest to the scabbard, was forced to retreat more than a dozen steps by the abyss-like, shocking Sword Intent. Before she even had time to open her eyes and see clearly, she found that Su Youyi had already come before her, holding a three-foot Qingfeng sword, and started to clash with the scabbard.
If the previous illusions in the mountain’s Sword Array were just children’s squabbles, then this scabbard was an adult man throwing heavy punches. The pressure that surged in an instant forced Su Youyi into continuous retreat!
Yu Gejing, who was beside her, also snapped out of her daze. Seeing her junior sister in a critical situation, she didn’t care about her own exhaustion and laid out all the Arrays she knew, bombarding the scabbard with them.
Bully my junior sister? I’ll smash your scabbard!
However, the attacks from these Arrays hadn’t even neared the scabbard before they were utterly annihilated into nothingness; only then did Yu Gejing realize that the surrounding Void of the scabbard was filled with Sword Qi.
After all, it was just a creation within an Illusion Realm. Although it involved the power of time, making it a bit more real than pure illusions and possessing two percent of the original’s charm, its strength was limited.
After all, nobody was Sword One!
That’s also why Su Youyi was barely hanging on.
But the scabbard, after being pummeled recklessly, also lost its temper, abandoning its original opponent and turning its blade towards the person who threw ’trash’ at it.
This sudden turn of events caught both Su Youyi and Yu Gejing off guard; they didn’t expect the scabbard to bear such a grudge.
In the Illusion Realm, Yu Gejing only had the cultivation level of the late Third Realm and her true memories had not been restored. Having great talent in Array Dao could not replace the lack of real combat experience.
Seeing the scabbard’s strike, fast as thunder, bearing down on her, she didn’t have enough time to set up another Array to defend herself and could only instinctively close her eyes.
At the critical moment, a graceful figure stood in front of Yu Gejing, catching the incoming scabbard with bare hands, but her hands were slashed by the Sword Qi of the scabbard until they were a bloody, mangled mess.
Blood dripped down the scabbard, time seemed to come to a standstill. The previously restless scabbard was now surprisingly calm, as if confirming something.
Seeing the crazed scabbard calming down, Su Youyi also gave a sigh of relief.
The scabbard was only an inch away from her forehead. Had it moved any closer, the Sword Qi would have pierced directly into her brain.
"Sister!" Yu Gejing saw Su Youyi’s pale face protecting her and couldn’t hold back her tears, cursing her own powerlessness.
She flung the broken scabbard far away and hurriedly took out Healing Pills and bandages from her ring to wrap Su Youyi’s hands.
"I’m sorry, it’s my uselessness as your senior sister that you had to come to my rescue..." Yu Gejing’s eyes brimmed with tears as she carefully cleaned Su Youyi’s wounds.
Su Youyi, now pale, still shook her head at Yu Gejing and counter-asked:
"If our positions were reversed, wouldn’t you come to save me?"
Yu Gejing’s eyes were blurred with tears, tears falling uncontrollably.
Meanwhile, the scabbard, thrown far away, seemed like a guilty child – wanting to approach Su Youyi to see how she was but not daring to, only anxiously turning in circles on the spot.
Glancing at the scabbard still turning circles, Su Youyi finally remembered a thought that flashed by just now.
"If the scabbard belongs to Sword One, then why didn’t she feel the familiar Sword Intent on that Sword One?"
Before she could ask Sister Yu to restore the seal, the majestic peak they were on trembled like an ancient, unshackled beast, and a fierce aura emerged from within the mountain, staining the sky blood-red.
"Ahahaha!" A proud and arrogant laughter echoed from behind the blood clouds, and "Sword One" hovered in the air, looking down pityingly at the two severely wounded girls.
"Thanks to you, the most difficult part was so easily resolved."
Su Youyi and Yu Gejing looked up at the crazed "Sword One", the initial gentleness and elegance gone without a trace, only madness remained.
