This Holy Knight is So Despicable!
Chapter 33 The Token of Death

Chapter 33: Chapter 33 The Token of Death

In the dense gray mist, a humanoid figure gradually emerged.

He wore a gray cloak, holding a chain and scythe in his hands. Though there was nothing under the hood, it seemed to gaze at everything in the world.

If one accidentally made eye contact with it, even a single glance could ensnare their soul.

However, the Death God, after appearing, did not pay any attention to Lette but rather turned his head towards Emily and Joanna.

The witch’s curse was a desecration of the Death Law, and their rich, strong souls were the Death God’s favorite pastries.

Being watched by the Death God was no good thing; the Divine Contract within Joanna reacted at once. A thin Divine Power Field enveloped her, completely blocking the Death God’s gaze.

And for the first time in this life, Emily smelled the scent of death, but fortunately, Lilith and the Pope stood in front of her. Otherwise, just standing here might have dragged her into the Nether Sea by the Death Will.

Lette frowned slightly, taking a step forward.

A beam of Holy Light shot out from beneath his feet, hitting the gray mist of the Death God along the ground.

The latter’s figure trembled, and he immediately raised his scythe. Upon seeing clearly who was in front of him, he angrily thumped the scythe onto the ground.

The murmurs of the dead emanated from under the hood, ethereal and hoarse, as if barely there. The harder one tried to listen, the less clear they became.

Yet it was still apparent that the Death God was somewhat displeased.

Lette spoke, surprisingly, in the murmurs of the dead. It was hard to imagine why a living being could produce such a sound.

Though it was unknown what the two discussed, the two demons saw the hood nod slightly, then extend a skeletal hand, pointing at Lette.

"Oh? Are you sure?"

Perhaps a bit surprised, Lette subconsciously did not use the murmurs but did not expect the Death God to nod slightly, pointing heavily with his finger again.

Lette thought for a moment, then pulled off the first button of his collar and threw it to the Death God.

After catching it, the latter retracted his arm in satisfaction, and his figure disappeared with the gray mist.

Once the deathly air completely dissipated, only then did the Pope and others hurry over.

"You brat! It’s one thing to trade with a Demon! How did you dare to provoke even the Death God! Do you realize the seriousness of this?"

"Fair trade, reasonable transaction, what’s serious? Let me tell you, the Death God is definitely the most rule-abiding!"

Lilith circled Lette once, anxiously asking, "What trade did you make with him?"

"It’s also a form of assurance. Even if the witch’s curse withstands the summons from the Holy Mountain and the Demon Realm Thirteen Realm Prison, I really don’t believe it can resist the Death Will from the Nether Sea."

Emily finally recovered from the earlier shock: "But isn’t your soul pledged to the Demon God of the Demon Realm?

What did you use to make the deal? Why does the Death God want your button?"

Mentioning this, Lette scratched his head helplessly: "I originally thought I could, like the Holy Light Goddess, use the retrieval of Death Divinity lost in this world as a bargaining chip.

Unexpectedly, the other party only wanted a promise from me."

With that, Lette pointed to his collar: "Look, if all the buttons on the shirt are fastened, where is the first one?"

"Probably at the throat..."

"Yes, it’s the human’s mortal spot, it’s also where the voice comes from. Therefore, the first button on a shirt is one of the most effective tokens for the Death God.

A pocket watch placed in the left inner pocket could also work, as that location is the heart, and a clock symbolizes the passage of time.

This kind of token generally indicates that the promised thing has a time limit."

"Then what about the button?"

"If the token is a button, then one day, when someone shows up in front of me with the button, the request they make, I must try my best to fulfill."

Seeing the three worried faces, Lette chuckled: "Don’t be like that, I already said, the Death God is the most rule-abiding, don’t worry that he’ll make unreasonable demands or deliberately make things difficult for me.

In fact, it’s much simpler than helping him find the Death Divinity again.

I’m just curious, what could be more tempting for him than the allure of Divinity? What does he want my help with?"

The Pope stroked his beard, seemingly at ease: "Why are you, a debtor, worried about so much?"

Lilith was speechless: "I see who Lette learned his habit of owing debts from."

"Hey! You Demon don’t falsely accuse me of being unfaithful! He had this skill before apprenticing with me!"

Lette clapped his hands: "Alright, let’s go. There are still many things to do."

The Pope nodded: "Yes, there’s much work to be done...

The Holy Altar here probably needs to be torn down and rebuilt. Since it’s been used to summon the Demon God, Lady Goddess certainly wouldn’t want to use it again.

Oh dear... it’s all money! It’s killing me... if you’re not allowed to use it, then don’t use it, don’t you know manpower and material prices are expensive during the Holy Presence Ceremony?"

Amidst the Pope’s muttering, they headed towards the door. As they neared the entrance, Lette suddenly made a quick turn and strode back to the bed.

The others, seeing this scene, did not say much, simply standing silently at the door waiting.

Standing back at the bedside, Lette reached out and lifted the bed curtain.

"Um... the venue on the first floor was tidied up by me. I didn’t think too much at the time... when you wake up, I’ll make it up with a new one.

The portrait I also put away. It’s been three years, and I am much better looking than in the portrait. When you’re awake, I’ll make you a magic camera, so you can take a whole set of photos.

The crib I didn’t touch, but quadruplets and the like are too exaggerated, unrealistic, and harmful to health. For this matter, I think going with the flow is better.

In short... rest well, leave everything else to me."

Laying down the curtain, Lette turned and left, his steps becoming resolutely firm.

They walked down the stairs, Lilith complaining of being too tired, clung to Lette. But in reality, she just wanted to secretly converse with Lette.

"Did you find out? What’s exactly the deal with that Light God?"

"Hmph, I don’t know which Evil God discovered the ’back door’ I left in the faith structure of the Holy Light Goddess, sent a split consciousness in to feast and intended to take it all away.

Caused such a fuss, even Afra, no matter how dense, would notice, promptly locking the intruder inside.

Didn’t expect the intruder to be so ruthless, hitting the floor face first, using it as a backside.

After realizing escape was impossible, he immediately claimed to be the Light God, turning from a thief into a bandit, preparing to swallow the Holy Light Goddess, to usurp her place.

I can only say, he might be a repeat offender.

Yet, this Evil God doesn’t take things seriously enough. Although Afra has character flaws, she’s still powerful.

Moreover, this is a home ground battle; the Holy Light Goddess has been deeply rooted here for hundreds of years, how could a mere split consciousness of an intruding Evil God overturn things?

Of course, Afra also doesn’t dare to act hastily, after all, if she pushes too hard, that Light God goes for broke, she loses entirely.

But the outcome won’t change, the Light God will be eliminated, it’s just a matter of time.

The final result is likely to be, the Evil God ends up losing both the stolen chicken and the grain, giving Afra a small part of the Law’s Divinity for free."

Lilith came to a sudden realization: "No wonder! I was puzzled why Afra wouldn’t let you get rid of the New Church.

Ha, turns out she believes she will undoubtedly win and doesn’t want to waste the opportunity of you helping her."

Lette grinned: "Will win... maybe not. I’m quite interested in this Light God too."
