This Holy Knight is So Despicable! -
Chapter 185 - 176: Step Two, Dominate the Dream Realm
Chapter 185: Chapter 176: Step Two, Dominate the Dream Realm
After the mirage enveloped the entire Harbor City, Alice immediately began to compete with the Liar Demon for control of the Dream Realm.
"Brother, this person on the other side is really strong!"
"Don’t be nervous, he’s just bluffing."
Lette sat calmly, lightly tapping his fingers on the shop counter’s surface.
"I’ve defeated him twice before; until his true form appears, he’s not our opponent! Focus! Take control of this Dream of Harbor City!"
"Okay!"
Alice’s small hands opened slightly before clenching tightly.
The mirage within the fog of the entire Harbor City slowly took shape, eventually merging with the whole of Harbor City.
In a daze, it seemed as though the city’s architectural style had completely changed.
The unique elegance and solemnity replaced the old freedom and wildness.
"Brother! I’ve got it!"
"Can you find the opponent?"
"No... I can’t, he left the dream himself, I can’t find him."
Lette chuckled wickedly: "This monk not only ran away but also left the temple behind. Too bad, you’re the proverbial clay idol crossing the river, unable to protect yourself.
Alice, find that murderer I told you about this morning!"
"Okay! I’m already looking."
Alice glowed all over, entering a state similar to Emily’s overclocking.
This was her first time controlling such a large dream kingdom, especially in a semi-dream semi-real world.
Such a novel experience was also a challenge for Alice.
Fortunately, Lette’s mirage carried much of the framework and coverage task, greatly reducing Alice’s workload when manipulating the entire harbor’s dream.
"Brother, I found it!"
"Send me over."
"Okay!"
Alice swept her small hand, causing the entire mirage to start operating. The creaking sound of bronze gears and sturdy wooden joints pressing and rotating filled the air.
As Lette’s figure flickered, he suddenly disappeared from the reliable grocery store and then instantly appeared in a dim alleyway.
From within the shadows, a pair of murderous eyes suddenly opened. The moment he saw Lette, he felt as if his neck, heart, and brain were simultaneously devastated.
The only other sensation was as though he was bathed in light.
"Poof!"
He didn’t even have time to utter a word before he died miserably under Lette’s Holy Healing Technique·Revised.
"As I thought, not at Holy Rank. With strong Desire Power and the continuous accumulation of Lies, allowing you to continue developing would indeed be troublesome for us.
Mr. Liar, wouldn’t you agree?"
A Liar Demon in a tailcoat, gaunt and skeletal, stood behind Lette, unbeknownst when he arrived.
He no longer had the unhurried and complacent attitude he had during their last meeting.
Looking at the Murderer lying on the ground, his face showed anger for the first time.
"Mr. Wright’s methods are indeed impressive.
This is the first time I’ve been pushed to such a corner face-to-face by someone."
"You’re too kind. Most of your abilities are sealed in the Eye of the Sea, aren’t they? My victory wasn’t particularly glorious either."
With a faint smile, the Liar Demon said: "Mr. Wright, aren’t you also holding back?
This way of compressing the impact to the minimum seems like putting shackles on yourself.
Is this Mr. Wright’s hobby, or some form of weight training?"
"I’m a thrifty person. I hate waste the most."
Lette extended his hand, and the Sin Light Greatsword appeared, gleaming with a chilling light.
"Why should I choose surgery for an ailment that minimally invasive surgery can treat? In the end, it’s still you, who’s too weak."
The Liar Demon stopped talking and once again pulled out a rusted pirate scimitar in one hand and the trumpet he used to play the dream realm in the other.
"Crimson..."
The Holy Light quietly dissipated, replaced by the fierce and dazzling crimson light. The greatsword transformed into two slashing swords, and Lette once again entered the Celestial Realm.
Facing an opponent at the Conceptual level, any negligence could lead to irreparable results.
Even though Lette held the advantage, he didn’t dare to be overconfident.
In the dark alley, Lette and the Liar Demon clashed once more.
As the sword rose and fell, Lette severed the Liar Demon’s throat! But at the same time, his shoulder was grazed by the scimitar.
The Liar Demon’s throat wound healed instantly, causing Lette to frown.
In their clash just now, he went all out to ensure that he would take the opponent’s throat.
Since it’s a Lie, it seemed logical to silence him and see if his ability could be suppressed that way.
But based on the recent display, it was apparent the Liar Demon’s ability wasn’t triggered through speech.
Meanwhile, a rotten stench began to emanate from Lette’s shoulder.
That previous slash apparently carried a powerful curse.
In their last confrontation, this effect was absent!
Damn, that bastard deliberately held back last time!
No wonder they call him the Liar Demon; deceit is woven into his everyday actions.
Being in a Celestial state, Lette’s body was in an overclocked-like condition. Such injuries would normally be automatically healed and dissipated.
Yet now, the curse of the pirate scimitar couldn’t be dispelled as easily.
"What a remarkable treasure. Was it also taken from the Tower of Truth’s vault?"
"I don’t favor the Tower of Truth’s ideals either. After all, I am the Liar Demon. But honestly..."
The Liar Demon swung the scimitar, raising it high: "Their collection of these little trinkets is quite handy."
Uwooong!!!!
A low horn sound came from the sea, followed by a massive pirate ship breaking through the fog, charging toward the harbor.
Looking closely, the pirate ship was dilapidated, riddled with holes, and rotting beyond recognition. By all logic, it shouldn’t be able to sail.
Rather than a pirate ship, it was more like the corpse of a pirate ship.
Bam bam bam! Boom!!!
Suddenly, the pirate ship opened fire, the whistling cannonballs tracing beautiful arcs in the sky, directly bombarding the mirage’s phantom.
For a moment, the entire Harbor City trembled with a groan, and even Alice suffered minor injuries from this barrage.
"Brother! What do we do now?"
Hearing Alice’s voice nearby, Lette quickly reassured her.
"No worries! Alice! Fire back!"
"Alright!"
After the first barrage, Alice immediately switched the mirage to combat mode as Lette had previously trained her to do.
Clatter! Clatter! Clatter-clatter-clatter!
Countless cannon barrels suddenly popped out from the mirage’s doors, windows, and eaves, with pitch-black, elongated muzzle almost covering the entire surface of the mirage.
If one wasn’t careful, they might mistake the mirage for a massive steel porcupine!
The most important thing was that even the smallest cannon muzzles within the mirage were a size larger than the main guns on the ghost ship. Not to mention, there were dozens of times more in number.
If all the cannons in the mirage were pulled out, their combined size would be equivalent to four or five ghost ships.
Looking at the terrifyingly exaggerated firepower setup, even the Liar Demon was startled.
"Do you have to be this over the top?"
Lette spread his hands: "Sorry, I can’t help it. If the firepower is too small, I get anxious, I get scared, I can’t sleep!
Hereditary problem, can only be relieved, not cured."
"You’re bluffing. If you fire all those cannons, that little girl behind you might get drained into ashes."
"Hahaha, who said I would make Alice use her Origin Power? Come on, today’s expenses are on the Demon!
They inexplicably paid me a large amount of soul currency recently, one currency per cannonball.
Enough for me to revel in artillery fire until tomorrow evening!
Now!"
With a flick of the crimson long sword in Lette’s hand, his eyes cold and fierce: "Let’s hear from the cannons!"
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!!!
Upon receiving Lette’s command, Alice went full throttle, wildly unleashing the mirage’s terrifyingly overwhelming firepower.
Countless fiery meteors tore across the sky, pouring down like a torrential rain into the sea where the ghost ship resided.
The eerie and dreadful pirate ship looked utterly isolated and helpless at that moment.
The insane spectacle was as if the entire sea was on fire!
Even the experienced Liar Demon couldn’t help but marvel at this moment.
"Since when did the Demon enjoy being the scapegoat this much?"
"Hiss!"
With the situation overwhelmingly favorable, Lette felt his arm grow heavy. The previous rotten aura caused his injured arm constant harm.
He had tried several means of destruction, but unfortunately, none were successful.
The rusted blade the Liar Demon wielded was indeed no ordinary weapon.
"Human bodies are just so fragile, aren’t they?"
The Liar Demon lightly ran his fingers over the rusted blade’s back: "If you were already a god, with your Conceptual-level power, the injury wouldn’t spread so quickly."
Saying that, he turned into an apparition, charging at Lette once more.
Lette advanced instead of retreating, thrusting the blade into the Liar’s body, the surging crimson light reflecting off his figure.
Yet, it was as if the Liar Demon was unharmed, striking backhandedly.
Lette endured the intense pain, raising his blade to block, but the opponent changed moves, the trumpet in hand fired like a musket, blasting a burst of dreamlike illusion.
The dream instantly collapsed, the resulting explosion forcing Lette back repeatedly.
"You’ve become immune to my First Radiance?"
"Lying is like dreaming, both are extensions of phenomena. A dream is the reassembly of existing knowledge.
No one can dream of things beyond their understanding.
If you’ve never seen the color red in your life, you won’t dream of red.
Lies are the same."
The Liar Demon waved his rusted blade: "Since I’ve seen your moves, naturally I can weave a Lie targeting them."
"Oh, is that so."
Lette was noncommittal, his arm already entirely numb. However, he still couldn’t figure out what this unusual Power of Corruption was or how to dispel it.
Meanwhile, the ghost ship on the sea had already been blasted to pieces.
But one after another, pirate ghosts engulfed in greenish ghost flames clutched the fragmented remnants, moving toward the shoreline.
Once they entered the mirage, into Harbor City, they would probably head straight for the reliable grocery store.
The rusted blade’s nature in the Liar Demon’s hand, and how to break the curse, had become the key to resolving the situation.
As the Liar Demon raised his scimitar to attack once more!
Clang!
A black shield appeared from within Lette’s arm, blocking the attack.
Watching the Liar Demon being repelled, Lette noticed the Holy Shield wasn’t tainted by the opponent’s Power of Corruption, raising an eyebrow.
"So, you’re also a Divine Blessing Artifact!"
