Chapter 167: Chapter 158: Encounter with The Liar Demon Again (Request for Monthly Ticket)

When Lette arrived at the scene with Emily, they saw a masked person holding a hook scythe, attacking the newly-appointed Chief Detective Unica, who was collapsed on the ground.

If the attacker succeeded, Unica would be beheaded in the next second.

"Holy Fighting Skill! Assist!"

The next moment, Lette transformed into a stream of light and appeared in front of Unica.

Holy Shield·Embrace of the Goddess appeared instantly, blocking in front of Lette. With a clang, the hook scythe was repelled.

However, the Murderer did not seem to give up. With a tug and a flick of the chain in his hand, the hook scythe moved in a strange trajectory to bypass the Holy Shield, aiming again at Unica from a blind spot.

"You underestimate me, don’t you?"

Lette snorted coldly, "Holy Fighting Skill! Shield Counter!"

Connecting his lower and upper body, the Holy Shield in his hand spun from below to above, striking the hook scythe again.

Not only did he block the cunning strike, but he also reflected the hook scythe back toward its owner.

Even the Murderer was caught off guard by this sudden counter-attack, nearly ending up beheaded himself.

Seeing this, Lette snapped his fingers and pointed toward the Murderer.

"Get him!"

In an instant, his palm was covered in flesh. Meanwhile, a semi-transparent Blood Flesh Evil God phantom appeared out of nowhere in front of the Murderer, punching toward him.

Bam!

The Murderer braced both arms in front of him, forcefully enduring the strike. He groaned deeply, spitting blood as he retreated repeatedly, his arms trembling unnaturally and bent awkwardly.

"Hoo..."

Seeing the successful rescue, Lette waved his hand, and the Blood Flesh Evil God’s phantom returned to hover behind him like a shadow.

Emily, startled by the grotesque Blood Flesh Evil God, exclaimed, "Isn’t this the same Divine Shadow as last time?

Has it materialized already? That’s so fast!"

Lette shook his head, "Not at all, still far from it. Haven’t you noticed that this surrounding is different from other places?"

Prompted by Lette, Emily realized, "This place is somewhat similar to the Dream Realm! But not entirely...

It’s like... porridge, with both water and rice mixed together."

"Exactly!"

Lette strolled over to Unica, "That’s why I could release the Blood Flesh Evil God’s phantom to attack.

Because if it were a Dream Realm, the Blood Flesh Evil God as a spiritual body would materialize.

If it were pure reality, it wouldn’t have any offensive power.

Judging by the damage inflicted so far, the effects are outstanding.

This area must be semi-dreamlike by now."

Taking advantage of Lette’s standoff with the opponent, Emily hurriedly helped the weakened Unica to his feet.

"Are you okay?"

"I...I’m fine. Thankfully, you guys came quickly..."

Emily was about to comfort him further when she suddenly noticed the Murderer making a bizarre move and immediately shouted.

"Lette! Watch out! He’s trying to escape!"

"He’s not getting away!"

Sure enough, as the Murderer sensed the unfavorable situation, he began to fade, seemingly disappearing.

But halfway through his dematerialization, he was forced back again.

"What is happening?"

His raspy voice sounded piercing, and the Murderer looked at his hands in horror, making another strange gesture but still failing to escape.

"A shaman?"

Lette was surprised to see the gesture, "I never thought I’d encounter someone who understands shamanic magic here.

What is your relationship with the Sea Sacrifice Shaman?"

The opponent did not answer, continuing to perform the shamanic gestures in a futile attempt to escape.

"Since this area is already semi-dreamlike, you can’t possibly escape!"

Lette spread his hands, and a huge palace’s shadow slowly emerged around him.

"I don’t know how much you know about dreams, but within my [Mirage], whether you can leave depends on me."

"Lette..."

Emily stood before Lette, "Let me capture him myself!"

"Are you...sure?"

"Last time, I suffered due to the lack of awareness, but if this area is semi-dreamlike, I can exert even greater power."

Emily was cold as ice, exuding killing intent, "I want revenge for him escaping last time, for attacking Unica this time, and for those innocent girls!"

Seeing Emily’s firm resolve, Lette nodded and withdrew the Holy Shield.

With the Mirage outside and himself on guard, letting Emily train herself was also a good thing.

Screech!

As soon as Lette stepped back beside Unica, an unusual sound caught his attention. Realizing something was wrong, he looked up, confirming his suspicions.

By now, Emily had erupted with real fury, driven by both the hatred for the murderer before her and her own foolishness that almost led to tragedy.

She needed a decisive victory to quell her anger.

With a forceful yank, she ripped off her sleeves.

Her arms exposed, Emily instantly entered Overclocking Mode. She glared at the opponent, her voice icy cold.

"Today, you’re not getting away."

Then, she donned the Alchemy Belt from Lette, strapping it onto her waist while inserting a Magic Crystal Card.

"Elemental Armor! Ice Witch!"

Emily’s entire body crystallized into a giant block of ice, which shattered with a crack, leaving her vanished.

In the next moment, she appeared above the Murderer, her Physics Holy Sword enveloped in cold, slashing down fiercely.

The Murderer was shocked, swinging the hook scythe to latch onto the wall for an abrupt pull, narrowly avoiding Emily’s majestic strike.

However, the biting cold froze the moisture in the air, tearing a chunk of flesh from the Murderer’s right forearm.

The ground instantly iced over, making it difficult for ordinary people to keep their balance, yet Emily moved effortlessly, even more swiftly.

Wielding a crowbar, she spun it in a circle, firing countless icy arrows. Upon hitting the ground, they exploded, transforming into sharp, giant ice blossoms.

The Murderer dodged with difficulty, soon soaked in blood, wounds crusted with ice shards, every movement scraping his flesh.

Lette frowned deeply, surprised by the Murderer’s formidable fighting spirit.

What belief supports such a serial killer?

Lette couldn’t help reminding, "Emily, be cautious. This is a semi-dreamlike zone; magic power depletion is charged to you."

The belt and Magic Crystal Card would cover the Elemental Creatures’ part, but Emily’s own consumption was on her reserves.

Of course, in emergencies, she could overdraw from the Magic Crystal Card, but that would be costly.

Swish!

While Emily was mid-attack, the malicious Murderer, unexpectedly didn’t retreat but advanced, striking at Emily.

Emily conjured an Ice Wall to block, but the Murderer flicked the chain, and the hook scythe nailed the ice wall.

Pulling abruptly, he shot toward Emily like an arrow.

Lette raised an eyebrow, quickly shouting, "Emily, dodge, don’t take it head-on!"

Emily had been poised with the crowbar, confident that with the Elemental Armor’s protection, the opponent couldn’t breach her defense.

But trusting Lette, she swiftly withdrew, leaving behind only an identical ice sculpture.

Crack!

To her surprise! The Murderer’s strike bore through the ice sculpture’s heart.

Emily felt a wave of fear, realizing that the Murderer somehow had another weapon.

It was a bizarre bone knife fashioned from fish bones, etched with twisted runes. Not only was it razor-sharp, but it emitted a dense, malicious aura, the blade bearing traces of blood.

Although the ice sculpture’s defense was inferior to her true form, it was still formidable. The opponent cleaved through it like cutting through butter – had it been her, she’d have been in dire straits.

"Emily, come back!"

"But!"

"I said, come back!"

Emily reluctantly returned to Lette, ceasing her Super Body Mode.

"Sea Sacrifice Bone Knife, you’re using Sea Sacrifice Witchcraft indeed."

Lette reached out, summoning his Sin Light Greatsword and Holy Shield·Embrace of the Goddess, "Such bloodthirsty and barbaric witchcraft should’ve drowned in history’s river long ago.

Since you’ve chosen to use this vile thing, you should be prepared for its backlash, right?"

The Murderer didn’t speak, gripping the fish bone knife in his left hand, and swinging the hook scythe with his right, determined to fight to the end.

Unfortunately, he forgot this was Lette’s Mirage.

After losing the Second Holy Artifact, Utopia, Lette’s control over the Dream Realm declined drastically.

To compensate for the void left by Utopia’s sealing, Lette prepared many contingencies in the Dream Realm.

These included Imaginary Creatures, Imaginary Constructs, and the weaving of this small, intricate dream domain.

Unlike other Dream Weavers creating their dreams as vast as possible, Lette’s crafted dream is the size of a temple. Yet, the ingenuity and effort invested are no less than those dreams of empire-scale.

Compared to Utopia, the Mirage lacks the dreamy reality manipulation but, functionally and sovereignty-wise within the Dream Realm, it surpasses Utopia.

After all, Utopia was Lette’s audacious creation in his youth.

Whereas the Mirage reflects his post-transformation mastery and excellence.

With the Mirage present, even The Liar Demon must shed skin!

The Murderer felt the surrounding dream’s peculiar shifts, preparing cautiously yet realizing Lette had vanished.

In the next moment, a massive Black Shield approached!

The Murderer struggled to evade, but his body felt mired as if trapped in a swamp, losing the former dreamlike agility.

Bang!

The Murderer was ruthlessly slammed into the ground. Lette stomped hard, jolting him up, then charged with the shield, smashing him into the stone wall.

Two instant Shield Strikes left all of the Murderer’s bones shattered.

In that moment, he realized his earlier meticulous preparations were laughable.

The difference in their powers was worlds apart.

"Die, then I’ll thoroughly torment your soul!"

Lette lost interest in interrogating, ready to extract the needed information directly from his soul.

This would make the Murderer’s soul suffer a thousandfold!

But, that was what he deserved.

Emily, from afar, shuddered upon hearing this, wanting to remind Lette not to forget he’s a Holy Knight.

But on second thought, she relented; after all, the Murderer was truly despicable.

Just as Lette prepared to end the Murderer’s life with Sin Light, he suddenly tensed, slashing at the air.

A cracking sound was heard, and a figure in a tailcoat retreated, his arm bearing a horrifying wound.

The newcomer was their old nemesis, The Liar Demon.

"Daring to enter my Mirage, are you courting death?"

"A truly terrifying creation. Skillfully exquisite, full of deadly traps."

The Liar Demon took a deep breath, "If this were within the Dream Realm, I’d skirt around. But Mr. Wright, have you not forgotten, we’re not within a dream yet.

This lie ought to be pierced."

The Liar Demon pointed a finger lightly ahead, and a sound like soap bubbles bursting ensued.

Immediately, the surroundings transitioned from semi-dream to complete reality.

The Mirage, unsupported by the dream, dissipated as well.
