Chapter 62: [Bonus Chapter] The Great Hustle of the Thirteen Clans (6)
To say that Luis was disappointed or irritated is a severe understatement of what he was feeling right now. He was royally pissed off.
Just imagine him as a fresh graduate who just accepted his first job. Pure and untainted by the rotten system of the corporate world, still dreams that his first job will kick start a life-changing career for him.
But then suddenly, reality bit him like a damn snake and he found out that he would have to suffer from the mess that his resigning senior left him due to terrible turnover of work.
That is pretty much the summary of Luis’ situation right now.
It was horrendous.
A royal pain in the ass. In a non-sexual way of course, to his dismay.
Fuck.
If it weren’t for the fact that the moon elf lord’s body will disintegrate into nature’s energy once they reach the end of their lives, then he would dig up their graves and scold all 42 moon elf lord’s giving him a hard time (no pun intended).
Just how can they not include vital information about the moon elves’ plate in their shared memory?
Those damn megalomaniacs.
"This won’t work at all," Luis murmured while he was sitting in a lotus position. He was back in the room that the timid Adriha Clan’s patriarch provided him.
The moon elf lord has been trying to concentrate on going through the information available in Inheritance.
But there was still nothing. Well, aside from the memories of the past lord’s obsessions of every kind the Inheritance is giving him nothing.
Well, not totally nothing since he managed to unearth some techniques that are practically in the back of his mind. Luis also got to refresh his understanding of different races on this continent.
He thought that he could somehow pin down the possible perpetrator of the current incident.
"But there were too many to mention," Luis simply wanted to lie down at this point. "Fuck it."
Luis closed his eyes to meditate once again but there was a presence beyond the door.
"Olyn, what is it?"
The bearer peeked with only his brown hair and eyes showing. "Are you okay, my lord?"
"Yes," even though he is pissed but it diminished when his number one servant appeared. "Do you have anything to report?"
Olyn scanned the moon elf lord’s complexion several times.
Up and down.
Only when he saw that his lord was in a better state did he state his report, "The drafting was already done so both the guardians who will stay here and the vanguard are mobilized to do their respective works. Head Sentinel Legland has set off to dispatch the groups to specific sections of the tunnels. They will clear the area and prepare based on the earlier set-up."
"Then they are told to train until tomorrow morning before we attack."
"Somehow inform Legland not to push them too hard. It will be troublesome if the warriors will face the horde tired and too spent to fight back."
"Understood, my lord." Olyn nodded. Still with only half of his head visible.
Luis somehow feels his neck aching looking at his servant. "You can enter and stand here properly, you know."
Olyn shook his head, "That’s all I have to report, my lord," then his brown eyes turned crescent like the moon.
Luis cannot see Olyn’s lips but he is dead sure that he is smiling. The moon elf lord relaxedly placed his chin on his palm.
"Did something good happen?" Luis’ eyes turned slits as he smelled the familiar scent of gossip. Is it that boy Jiro?
"Hehe," Olyn suspiciously laughed. "Remember that stupid guy from the Isan Clan, my lord?"
Luis nodded.
"14 high-ranking warriors from the Isan Clan were found naked and with broken limbs in the woods far from here. That annoying guy was included from that lot, my lord. So now, the Isan Clan failed to send all their veteran warriors and they can only settle some of their new three-star warriors to participate."
’Oh, you were quite enjoying this, Olyn’
However, hearing about the incident oddly reminds him of Xagrien. Olyn explained this to him earlier.
All those so-called high-ranking warriors are all three-star warriors with plates that start with Heavenly Spirit rank. A qualification that is enough to rank as a squad leader like Denzel.
Therefore, the strength of those 14 warriors is definitely not pathetic and in his opinion, Xagrien has all the motives and is capable of doing such things.
Well, he doesn’t mind it at all though.
Luis came from a messy apocalyptic world. He is one of those who advocate vengeance as a cathartic practice to release all the pent-up negativities that one has.
Just make sure that the male god didn’t leave any incriminating evidence then all is good and fine.
"Hehe," Olyn is obviously full of glee. "That’s all I have to report, my lord. I will take my leave now."
And the bearer’s head disappeared.
Luis once again left in a silent room but this time, with a lighter heart.
"Oh my, that’s somehow calmed me down. Thanks, Olyn," conversing with someone you are comfortable with greatly helps one to destress.
Luis closed his eyes and entered the state of meditation once again. However, this time he mobilized his inexhaustible nature’s energy based on what he had seen in the Inheritance.
It was a technique named Primordial Spirit Communing Arts. A technique which lets him converse with spirits who have existed since the beginning of this world.
There is quite a handful of existence that meet the descriptions and one of which is living intimately with the moon elves.
It was the Tree of Life. The being that could be considered his parent in this world.
Truthfully speaking, Luis had come across this technique much earlier. However, he just shrugged it off at first for three reasons.
One, he was focused on leisure during the first few days since he got reincarnated. Luis was welcomed with a paradise of beautiful nature and handsome hot guys so what else can he do? Enjoy galore, it is!
Two, he was invested to improve his physical abilities especially when he found out about the future of this world that he was in. At that time, he thought that once the apocalypse happened, the only thing that he could lean on was his own strength. Thus he trained his body to grow accustomed to the effects of strength and speed-enhancing techniques.
Finally three and the pettiest reason, the ’spirit communing’ term doesn’t sit well with him. Luis thought that it would be like a witch doctor or something so he dropped it like a hot potato.
Thankfully, he got a chance to reassess the technique and now he’s got
sage to consult about a couple of things that puzzle him.
The moon elf lord continued meditating while weaving his nature’s energy based on the Primordial Spirit Communing Arts.
Luis doesn’t know much but he knows that with this distance, it is possible to do it.
It didn’t take long until the sitting moon elf lord slowly levitated whilst his body was bathed in bright white light. His eyes’ original dark-green iris cannot be found. Instead, his eyes are literally glowing white.
Luis’ energy moved exactly the same as his mutterings.
It was one of his habits when he was trying to focus. His mouth is also working.
How weird.
"Slowly but surely. Calmly spread your energy on the ground like a root. Extend it stably. More. More. Make it longer some more until it touches the oldest tree around here," Luis’ ambiguous muttering could be heard. Thankfully, no one is around under the efforts of Olyn and the Adriha Clan.
Unbeknownst to Luis, aside from the spreading root-like light on the ground there is also a white shining pillar that was visible to the moon elves outside.
The moon elves dropped to their knees upon witnessing this overwhelming display of might.
However, that pillar didn’t last long and it suddenly shot high up into the sky.
Nobody knows that the light instantly reached the Tree of Life in the Ambrian Plateau.
Nobody knows that the floating and shining body of the moon elf lord is currently an empty vessel.
Because at this moment, Luis, in his spiritual body, is currently in the Ambrian Plateau.
"Fuck! I think I am going blind! It’s like a flashlight was directed into my eyes!" Luis cursed as he tried to adjust his vision.
All he can see was white for a good full minute until he can slowly see the outline of someone standing in front of him.
"It’s great to finally talk to you, newly born moon elf lord," a deep raspy voice greeted him.
Luis somehow felt sorry because the speaker sounded tired and unwell. He knows that feeling too well. So Luis’ empathy for the guy is ceiling-high.
The spirit of the Tree of Life seems to be too tired of living for too long.
"Are you okay, Tree of–," the volume of Luis’ voice slowly became low until it completely disappeared.
His eyes, full of disbelief, were looking at the familiar man in front of him.
The man was tall, about six feet and two inches. His buff body is obvious through his black V-neck shirt and tight army pants. He is sporting a crew cut hairstyle that was a norm in modern earth.
However, that is not the reason why Luis was stupefied.
Luis cannot believe his eyes as he roamed the obvious burn marks on both of the man’s muscled arms. His gaze locked on the eerily familiar face and spotted the vertical scar that runs from the man’s forehead down to his right eyes.
It was the same scar that he once had.
"Holy fucking shit! What kind of prank is this? What am I doing here! No! What are you doing here!" Luis is about to go bat-shit crazy as he pointed at the man’s face.
’Why am I facing my old me now?!’ the moon elf lord’s thoughts exploded in his mind like a nuke as he stared at face that looks exactly like him before he reincarnated in this world.
