There's Something Wrong With You, My Lord! -
Chapter 42: Bursting Through The Woods (4)
Chapter 42: Bursting Through The Woods (4)
Luis’ face is burning as he is charging towards the hordes of root crawlers.
"Kiiiiiik!"
At this time, frightened and suffering cries of the bullied root crawlers are heard.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Every time that loud bang reverberate, the lives of multiple level-one creatures were taken.
But as Luis is speeding inside the tunnel, his mind is racing in a different direction. And the subject is none other than Xagrien.
It was just a millisecond of glance but the image of the male is imprinted on his ’assuming’ mind.
It was a look of admiration.
Luis has been stared at that way when he was on apocalyptic earth but never did it made his heart race.
Thinking of it this way gave birth to a dangerous thought.
’Does this mean that he has fallen for me?’
Splat! Slat! Crack!
That is the sound that answers his wishful thinking.
Luis admits that he is severely, hopelessly and ridiculously attracted to Xagrien.
Who wouldn’t when that guy is a legendary three-H dude?
Hot, handsome and hung!
Plus that sexy pointed moon elf ears and shining tanned skin. Xagrien is an exotic delicacy!
But of course, he had seen a lot of handsome men in his past life. While he didn’t get a taste of them, he got to meet them and was exposed to their presence.
However, none of them made him feel close to what he is feeling now. Xagrien’s effect towards him is simply and irrevocably overwhelming. Just him standing on the side is enough for Luis to be bothered and jittery.
It was a kind of nervousness that felt good.
Though sometimes he felt like running away because of all the foreign feelings that this male triggered inside him.
Luis didn’t intend to go further in his thoughts since he isn’t ready for an in-depth analysis of his feelings.
Luis stopped bushwhacking through the root crawlers’ horde.
"Ewww, yuck!" The moon elf lord recklessly threw away the bodies of root crawlers in his hand. It looks like a torn cloth after going through all the ramming and pounding against its kind.
Thanks to their hard work, Luis killed a lot of root crawlers. They served their purpose with utmost diligence.
"How touching."
Luis spied on his surroundings with the help of his white light. It illuminated the earthen walls and of course, the lump of meat that he will be grinding later on.
Now that he is here in the middle part of the tunnel, he can say that it is much worse than the entrance.
It was a straight-up pandemonium. A scene that is supposedly seen in nightmares.
Probably because there are two connecting pathways in this path, the numbers of the root crawlers here are probably thousands and they are compressed so tightly. The walls of the tunnel could hardly contain their ghastly wails. Their breathing are more like gasps.
The air inside was thin and the stench that comes from the mix of their dripping sweat and saliva is unimaginable. It intermingled with the metallic scent of blood.
Luis honestly wants to find a cork to stuff it on his nostrils. It was that bad.
Despite of this, the moon elf lord surveyed the situation while thinking deeply.
"Shit, this won’t work." Luis cursed. He initially plans to test his new subordinates with this but that plan is impossible now.
Normal moon elves wouldn’t survive if they attack this horde especially if it is in a cramped place like this.
Luis was able to move a bit due to his small height but it is not the case for his Xagrien and his friends.
"Xagrien’s power is too destructive to use it underground and the others are all adult sizes so it is not ideal for them to fight here. Aside from that, some will need to use weapons to kill. It is indeed the best if we could somehow lure them outside, little by little," Luis thought out loud as he carried on with his massacre. "What if we fumigate them to lure them out?"
Luis continued his assessment as he shot a jab right at a moon crawler’s face. Another kill.
This time, he grabbed the back of the head of an approaching root crawler and mercilessly crushed it against the wall.
Just like a watermelon.
All of a sudden, Luis saw a tiny and shiny thing splashed out together with the brain matter. It is yellow with a tinge of brown translucent stone. A poop-colored stone.
The moon elf lord tried to reach for it but suddenly a root crawler transformed into it’s hand-sized version and jumped to catch the stone.
Luis was caught off guard when he saw this happen in front of him. Luis collided with it and it left a thin laceration on his arm. Red dots of his blood dropped on the ground, mixing with the puddles of blood.
"Ouch!" Luis cried reflexively after feeling that pain.
He paused and it is enough for the small root crawler to get the stone and disappear into the crowd.
"What the hell?!" Luis uttered in disbelief. It was momentary but he saw how the iris of that root crawler turned from red to normal black before its shape shifted.
Luis almost forgot that root crawlers originally have that kind of ability to minimize their body.
Ever since that night, he has never seen any root crawlers who shapeshifted!
The moon elf lord also observed that its movements are also too intelligent if he compared it to these seemingly mindless creatures that he is killing. It treated that stone with utmost importance and cleverly hid it after getting it. As if it was a totally different intelligent creature.
Luis had a dreading feeling brewing in his guts. He tried not to pre-conclude but that idea keeps poking into his mind.
Every time he tries to stay away from that conclusion, facts would always pop up to redirect him once again.
Ideas are frantically running inside his head as he revisits the facts that he has know so far.
These imperfect beings called root crawlers.
It’s sudden emergence 400 years ago.
The sudden change of behavior of this creature.
This different version of ’beast wave’.
The ’source’ that the system hinted.
All of these aligned towards one explanation. Nature has nothing to do with this but someone’s hand...
"Seems like we have an overstaying visitor here in Amber Forest." The moon elf lord gritted his teeth.
"This smells like a long-existing conspiracy, huh? Have you waited long enough?" To say that Luis is pissed was an understatement.
He was livid.
Why should this thing happen a few days after his birth?
Whoever behind this plot is after his life.
The punishment stated in the quest says it all.
Death.
And anyone that could casually threaten his life and everyone that put their trust in him deserves to be annihilated with his hands.
"Sucker Trouble, is it?" Luis remembered the title of the quest and it just spiked up his agitation more. "It seems fitting cause I will show you the consequences of messing with this aspiring sucker."
"Revitalize." He uttered and instantly, the white light that radiates in his body is now mixed with a faint green light.
His wounds have stopped bleeding and it slowly heals under the blessing of his wood power.
His fatigue and sore muscle vanished.
However, a thick and suffocating killing intent lingered in the air.
Luis didn’t know it, but his originally dark-green eyes became darker to the point that the leaf color became translucent and it appeared like an illusory shadow to the darkness of his eyes.
The moon elf lord has no idea that his wrath has triggered something powerful that’s residing deep inside him.
The trees outside are shaking violently even though the breeze was calm.
It’s as if responding to the strong agitation that Luis is feeling.
The moon elf lord’s wrath is bursting through the woods.
~
Legland and Nicol jolted after they felt the presence of the moon elf lord.
They didn’t even bother to finish their meeting with the clan patriarchs and they hurriedly issued their commands.
"Immediately send backups. I will personally go in the direction where this energy comes from. This is from the moon elf lord."
"Make sure that there will be someone standing by to monitor any movements of these root crawlers."
Everyone was dumbfounded as they saw these two powerful figures scamper their way to go outside the tent.
Olyn urgently caught up to the two, "Head Priest Nicol, Head Legland, please let me accompany you to meet with the moon elf lord."
The two stopped.
"If you can keep up with our pace then you can," Nicol said.
Olyn’s eyes were burning as he gave a firm nod.
~
The root crawlers trembled after feeling this threatening aura even though their senses were numbed by their controller.
"Kiiiiiik!" It cried and its instinct to run prevailed.
Such a sight should be impossible but yes. It happened under the full-blown suppression of the moon elf lord.
But on the other side, Luis doesn’t care much about it. His palms are tingling to harvest the life of these damned creatures.
Luis felt invincible as he moved around to kill all the root crawlers in sight. His speed and strength are incomparable compared to what he had shown earlier.
"I want to rest and live comfortably so pardon me if I end your life quickly," Luis’ voice is apathetic.
This time the air pressure that his punches make is enough to kill multiple targets in one shot. The agile and tricky root crawler could no longer keep up with the angry moon elf lord’s speed.
The horde of thousands of root crawlers is obliterated in just a few minutes.
The path ahead and the other connecting tunnels are littered with flesh and corpses of those that perished under the hands of the moon elf lord.
"You shouldn’t have messed with someone who is just starting over again."
He was hovering in the air. Looking at the situation that he crafted with his own hands.
There he saw four to five shining stones lying on a puddle of blood.
He discreetly picked one piece and was about to hunt for more when suddenly, a pair of big calloused hands grasped his waist.
The moon elf lord felt his back touch a wide and muscled chest. The other is almost hugging him in this position.
"Calm down, moon elf lord. You seem to forget that you are no longer alone." A deep masculine voice whispered in Luis’ ears.
"If you want to kill them all, then let me join you."
Luis opened his eyes wide and his killing intent vanished. This familiar voice.
"Xagrien!"
But the brute didn’t answer.
Instead, he changed their position with a swift spin.
In no time, Xagrien is in the vanguard. "Aren’t you coming with us?" Xagrien looked back at Luis.
Luis paused for a while. "Us?"
As if on cue, the ceiling a few steps in front of them suddenly opened a hole and the bright daylight instantly overpowered the darkness of the tunnel. As though the gloom inside was being washed away.
Luis used his blood-stained hand to protect his eyes from the brightness of the sun.
"We are here to help you fight them all, moon elf lord!" And his new companions descended from the opening.
One by one.
