Chapter 202: The First Step Of Media (1)
It was a regular day for the subjects of the Moon Elf Lord. With the approaching completion of the residential area, everyone is filled with enthusiasm.
A good number of them woke up early to grab a delicious breakfast— a practice that suddenly came to be due to the insistence of their beloved Moon Elf Lord.
Their devil-may-care attitude towards eating was totally reset by their Lord using the temptation of multitudes of delicious food. Now, they are no longer willing to miss a single meal.
This is why the open-roof canteen was teeming with people even before the sun broke through the horizon.
However, this seemingly regular day has ushered in a change that none of them expected.
"The canteen is weirdly festive today," Gea noted to himself as he held a trayful of food he got himself for breakfast. It was full of flavorful smoked meats, fried wild bird eggs, freshly picked leafy vegetables, and a few pieces of ripe fruits. It was a pretty heavy breakfast, but considering how physically taxing the work of the group he was in (laying the underground waterways), that much was enough to fuel him in the early morning.
He was with his "frienemy", Aryn. And that shameless cretin dared to ignore him.
’How irritating,’ the bearer just rolled his eyes. All of a sudden, something caught his attention.
"What is that?" Gea asked his friend-slash-nemesis, Aryn, while pointing at the tall wooden board that looked out of place outside the canteen. "That was not here yesterday, am I right?"
The tall and broad board was strategically placed on the side of the roofed kitchen and food counter, making it visible to all the diners regardless of where their seats were.
Aryn didn’t answer at first as he prioritized getting themselves a table.
The competition of scoring a seat in the canteen was fierce during meal time.
"Oh, that?" Aryn looked at the board, and a glint of recognition flashed in his eyes. "According to my son, the Lord calls that a Bulletin board. It was said to serve as a way of disseminating information that we may need to know."
"What kind of information is that?"
"Good morning, Brother Aryn and Brother Gea!" A group of children cheerfully greeted the two. They are accompanied by the adults of the Lune Clan, who are obviously distressed for some reason.
"Why did you wake up too early, kids?" Aryn’s voice was laced with genuine worry. "Did you forget what the Moon Elf Lord always said to you? It is good for children like you to sleep a lot so that you can become taller and stronger in the future."
"But we woke up early because Brother Ilian said that Pretty Brother is going to announce something," Tate, the runt and the most carefree of the orc children, actively answered. "That is why it is also his fault that our sleep is cut short–"
Sylis covered the child’s tiny mouth that could unleash disasters at the speed of light, looking helpless, "Come on, please don’t word it that way, Tate. Some people might get a different idea, hmm?"
The adults guided the children to take their seats to distract them from the unsaid meaning of those words that only grown-ups can comprehend.
The child nodded, although still looking like a confused pup that didn’t know where to release its stink. Fine, he will no longer call the pretty brother as Pretty Brother. Tate is easy to talk to.
"Don’t mind those people dripping with bitterness. They don’t matter anyway," Gea exaggeratedly motioned his hands as if he were shooing away flies. "Anyway, the Moon Elf Lord is going to make an announcement? Is it another assembly? Why do I only see a few priests and sentinels around?"
The bearer fired one after another.
"Calm down, you look like a starved wild dog that caught a glimpse of meat for the first time," Aryn jested Gea because of his reaction. It is understandable since even he is excited to get a chance to meet the Moon Elf Lord again. "But where will the assembly happen? Is it in a different place?"
"Eh? You haven’t read the thing written on the Bulletin Board?" Sylis looked at the two bearers, and he slowly turned his head in the direction of the tall and broad wooden structure.
"Ah," Aryn lightly tapped the top of his head in reproach to himself. "I was about to earlier, but I forgot it."
"No, what does it say?" Gea asked Sylis directly.
But the chaotic bunch of little fluffy heads ultimately gave the answer to his question.
"Wah! Brother Sylis said that Grandpa Hylolas was mentioned in that board."
"Yes, and Brother Nero will come back soon!"
"And Pretty Brother will give us gifts!"
"It’s a reward given after the construction is done," Sylis quickly corrected the naughty child who said the last. "And it is only given to the best-performing group who has done a great job."
Meanwhile, the two bearers looked as if they were lost in the wilderness.
"Wait, there is a thing like that?"
The two didn’t dilly-dally anymore. They both stood up to go near the Bulletin Board and blended with the crowds loitering in front of the tall wooden structure. They, too, are looking at and reading the writings written in the Old Moon Elven Alphabet with utmost concentration and would discuss with their company afterward.
’This is weird. Sylis said that this was just an announcement. Why are they acting like they are looking at a rare type of contracted beast?’ Gea said to himself.
"Hassle-Free Traveling is here! Establishing a Two-Point Transportation Circle Is A Success!?" Gea read the first boldly written sentence on the Bulletin board and felt his interest instantly piqued.
"Master Feren and Nero, the duo whom the Moon Elf Lord sent to establish a fast and secure mode of transportation for the folks of the Amber Forest and Metal Clans, have finally sent a brief message that details their success in connecting the two Transportation Circles of the Redhill territory and the Woodrill Plains. The Moon Elf Lord was said to be one who will..." Gea suddenly found himself immersed in the sea of words of the article. It was written neatly in a row, and the information contained in its paragraph was both timely and interesting that he ultimately forgot about the food that he hadn’t finished yet. "With this first step, multitudes of the possibilities have opened up for everyone under the Moon Elf Lord’s wing, and it won’t be long until the collectively dreamed prosperity will become a reality."
"What a statement!" Gea felt the delicate and thin hairs on his arms standing up. ’So uplifting!’
"Woah! Look at this, Aryn! The Moon Elf Lord was said to be the first who will use it to demonstrate the safety of using the Transportation Circle! Our Lord is too bold!" he excitedly shook the bearer near him.
"Shut up! I am reading about the criteria for the awards!" The other bearer forgot their years of friendship and swatted Gea’s hand like a fly.
On a regular basis, Gea would have flipped the switch and struck back, but this time, he scooted over to Aryn and read the article his frienemy was reading. It has an eye-catching sentence at the beginning of the paragraph that triggered his curiosity, just like the previous one.
"Good Deeds are met with Rewards: Reinforced Wooden Weapon Made By The Lord will be Given To Best Workers!"
Once again, Gea found himself charmed to go on and continue reading without even realizing it. The tingles in his toes fuel his enthusiasm to read more. Therefore, he did just that.
"Oh, Moon Goddess, if this is the criteria, then our group would definitely stand a chance to get the reward! I want a knife from the Moon Elf Lord’s wood powers! It was said that only Head Sentinel Legland has one, and it is deemed as sharper and more durable than the adamantium, and it doesn’t risk getting rusty because it is made from wood!"
Gea blurted out, evidently immersed in reading the article.
Truthfully, he is not the only one feeling the thrill of reading right now because the individuals and groups present are deep in their thoughts and opinions from the article. It wasn’t just an exposition of information. Some sentences contain the aspirations of whoever wrote them, making them stick around more.
"Amazing," Aryn suddenly said in a daze.
"I know, right? That weapon must be legendary in the future because it is from the Moon Elf Lord!"
"No, that is not what I meant. The structure of these articles. Did you notice? Despite the board being full of writing and giving the impression that it is long and tiresome to read, we just keep on reading and reading it every time we read that one sentence carved thickly on the wooden board." Aryn pointed out.
"Are these words a kind of hypnotic magic? I heard that something like that exists."
Aryn looked at Gea as if he had grown an additional three heads.
"You’re crazy. Do you think the Moon Elf Lord needs to do that?"
They are all deeply devoted to their leader, so there is no need to do that.
The duo stayed there for a while and studied the articles posted on the wooden Bulletin Board. With the introduction of this kind of writing, it sparked a new trend among Luis’ subjects.
Since then, it became a habit for the moon elves and orcs alike to check the Bulletin Board at the start of the day.
On the other hand, the culprit, the trendsetter, and the Moon Elf Lord, Luis, was busy pointing his bouncy and firm ass up in the air.
