Chapter 177: That Drunken Brawl That Went Down To History (1)
With the blatant actions of Nihil, it is easy for Luis to see through the old man’s intention. It is quite a surprise for Luis though. Since he never experienced having a parent introduce their child to him with the intention of dating or even marriage.
Luis must admit that he is not viable to be considered as a marriage candidate to anyone back then.
This is actually a good thing since it saved him all the trouble of admitting to anyone coming to him that he is gay and it’s not like there is a crazy parent who would push their son to him.
However, it seems like his life as the Moon Elf Lord and a bearer let him gain the attention that he was deprived of before.
Maybe if it was a few days after his rebirth, he would gladly bounce to anyone thrown at him but now...
Luis is afraid that he doesn’t have any appetite for other men since Xagrien is doing a great job of keeping him full.
Hihihi.
"This is the speciality that we have in our Ris Clan, My Lord. The Bloodberry Wine," Nihil proudly introduced the beverage that he has been raving about since earlier.
Olyn stood up to get the bottle but the old man immediately shrugged him off, "You don’t need to. Fireal go and pour our lord a cup."
Olyn looked at Luis, asking for a go-signal. Luis leisurely nodded. "Go ahead and continue enjoying your food."
"Alright, My Lord."
His number one servant obediently sat back.
Out of nowhere, Legland spoke and asked a curious question, "Are you sure you will drink this fruit wine, My Lord?"
Luis looked to his left and saw the uneasiness reflected in the guy’s crimson-red eyes.
"It is lauded as the strongest liquor among the moon elves. Just three shots and you will certainly feel that kick if you know what I mean, " Old Feren chimed in with his animated way of speaking. "Honestly, this is my personal favorite beverage. This is also the reason why I worked hard to take Nicol as my student. I want to receive a regular supply of Bloodberry Wine but unfortunately, he declined."
"So it took you several decades to admit it yourself," Nicol smugly smirked. "Thank you so much for proving that I am a good judge of character."
"Oh, there is a history between you like that? I assume that this must be a good wine since it triggered Master Feren’s greed," Luis jokingly said. "I am no longer that juvenile-looking Moon Elf Lord before. I am completely grown up."
Luis pursed his lips, ’I already did adult stuff behind your back.’
He could never say that loudly. He may be lewd and dirty but he was never shameless.
On the other hand, Fireal poured the wine until a quarter of Luis’ cup.
The Moon Elf Lord saw that the young man’s hands were slightly trembling so with a small question mark in his eyes, he looked up to see the expression of this young man.
Fireal was nervous and at the same time apologetic to the Moon Elf Lord. He doesn’t want to offend their lord but at the same time, he doesn’t have the heart to go against the wishes of his father.
’If only I have the guts of my older brother,’ he thought as he slowly poured the minimal serving for the Moon Elf Lord.
"This smells sweet, I like it," Luis cheerfully commented.
He then turned to the young man who is obviously not interested in him romantically.
"You can sit with us, Fireal. Thank you so much for serving me this drink."
Luis politely said. His judgment of this young man was not bad and out of consideration that he is Nicol’s younger brother, he is friendly.
However, it seems like this innocent gesture was painted with a different hue in the eyes of Nihil and to others who are watching their actions with hawk-like eyes.
"But My Lord..."Fireal looked awkward.
"What are you waiting for? Go sit beside-" Nihil hurriedly signaled his son the seat beside Luis, which was occupied by Olyn.
Coincidentally or not, the Moon Elf Lord interrupted him by saying, "Get a chair and sit beside Legland."
An uncomfortable silence ensued on the table.
"Oh, what were you saying Patriarch Nihil?" Luis quizzically looked at the old man. Nihil’s expression was like a crumpled paper after he felt like was shamed by the Moon Elf Lord.
Naturally, Luis got the gist of such a reaction so he symbolically paused for a few seconds, looking as if he was thinking hard and then he exaggeratedly exclaimed.
"Oh, I’m sorry. I just thought that it isn’t appropriate for an unmated young male like him to sit beside a bearer like me," the Moon Elf Lord apologetically said. "I hope you don’t take that against me."
"How could I, My Lord? I wouldn’t dare!" Nihil immediately denied it.
He decided to take a step back for now since it isn’t good to force his way to gain the Moon Elf Lord’s favor.
"That puts me at ease." Luis smiled. In his mind, he put a mark down on this old Patriarch of the Ris Clan. "The last thing that I wanted to do was to offend the father of my two equally capable subordinates who work with me."
He put emphasis on the important words in his last sentence.
Fireal was a timid young man, his face blushed instantly because of the "mistake" of the Moon Elf Lord.
"Huh? My Lord, I-I am not..."
"Why? Aren’t you the one who was scouted by Legland?"
"He is indeed the one I invited to join the sentinels but I haven’t received any response yet." Legland promptly interjected.
With his eyes questioning, Luis asked, "Don’t you want to join the sentinels?"
Fireal lowered his gaze. He wants to but he is afraid that once he gains authority, his father will start acting out.
Nihil is already a handful now that he is the patriarch and his estranged older brother is the head priest. How much more once he gained a foothold within the sentinels?
Fireal is not confident that he could contain his father the same way his brother Nicol does.
He is afraid that because of him, his father would later gain the despise of the Moon Elf Lord since he is an extreme elitist.
"Pardon my younger brother, my lord. Whether you believe it or not, he loves to join the sentinels. It’s just that, he is someone who wants to prove himself first. Getting the position through recommendation is not his style. He wants to prove it just like anyone else," he suddenly heard his brother Nicol speak.
Fireal snappily raised his head once again and there he saw his brother, gracefully chewing his food.
"Oh, a man of principles, I see," Luis nodded his head in understanding.
"I think that time will come sooner than you expected. I am planning to expand our forces and at the same time develop our strength in the following days. This is in preparation if someone barges into our territory just like what happened before." Luis said in passing. This is his response to Xerxes’ warning about the possibility of the dragon race’s presence in their territory in the future.
On the other hand, the patriarchs’ reactions are quite big. "My lord-"
Someone is ready to jump forward to start spitting questions but Luis stopped it by just raising his palm.
"We are here to celebrate and relax. I won’t go further on the matter since this is work related."
Hence, the others could only bite their tongue to suppress their enthusiasm.
How can they not be excited when that is an opportunity presented by the Moon Elf Lord himself?
Unbothered by the bright star-like gazes pointed at him, Luis turned to Fireal and said, "You’ve been standing there for quite some time. Go ahead and take your seat."
Luis swirled his cup and lightly sniffed the aroma of wine. However, his eyes discreetly lingered to everyone around him, his mind playing around a certain idea. ’Should he resort to that?’
Meanwhile, Fireal did as he was told and found himself seated in Legland’s right. It was two seats away from the Moon Elf Lord and four seats away from his father who was sitting on a different side of the table.
For him, it was enough breather from the pressure he just experienced. "Just eat comfortably the Moon Elf Lord doesn’t despise you," he heard Legland speaking to him.
"Yes, Brother Legland. I will. Thank you very much," he replied with a sigh of relief.
Fireal moved to get food for himself but his eyes landed on the man sitting opposite him. If he was not mistaken, he is the patriarch of the Lune Clan, the orc man named Sibal.
’I didn’t do anything against him but why is he glaring at me?’ he couldn’t help but think.
Unbeknownst to him, Sibal was displeased with him because he thought that Fireal was seducing his friend’s mate.
He perfectly knows the relationship between Xagrien and the Moon Elf Lord so he doesn’t appreciate the suggestive actions of Fireal’s father.
This is the first spark of trouble between the two men.
On the other hand, Luis took the liberty to share the wine with everyone on the table. The bottle was huge and heavy.
It is evident that he couldn’t finish it. Besides, liquor tastes better when it is shared with others.
At this point, Luis isn’t aware that this is one of the mistakes that he would do in this life.
