There's Something Wrong With You, My Lord! -
Chapter 114: New Arrivals (1)
Chapter 114: New Arrivals (1)
The verdant grasses carpeting the ground stretches to the ends of the horizon. If one were to stand at the edge of this stretch of grasslands, then one would fail to see the woodland located on the other side.
That is how wide the plains around Woodrill Lake are. It’s unbelievable that this land is located in the heart of the vast Amber Forest, but that is a fact that cannot be shaken or questioned because several centuries ago, this part was just like the rest of the Amber Forest, full of trees and teeming with wildlife.
On this hot yet breezy day, the surroundings around the grassland are currently encased by thousands of makeshift tents. Thousands of moon elves are busy moving the construction materials and few stone structures are already seen forming in some parts of the land.
The construction of the city started in full swing days ago so it is not a surprise that few simple houses are almost done.
The handful of children are seen running around the grassy land. Full of fun and carefree.
"Hello! Did you take care of your nipples? Pretty Brother told us that adults should never let them dried out like Brother Ilian’s," the youngest orc boy ran around saying that, leaving the adults petrified on their feet.
The innocent child will then resume playing and running around freely.
"Who is the pretty Brother they are referring to?" A middle aged bearer couldn’t help but ask, his face is as red as ripe tomato.
"I’m not sure myself but I pity whoever that Ilian was..."
The originally dull yet beautiful vicinity around Woodrill Lake is now full of life and vigor.
The animal skin drapery that covers the entrance of the biggest tent opened and 14 valiant figures emerged from it.
"Thank you so much, my lord!"
"It was eye opening, I really appreciate the wisdom that you shared with us." The representatives of the Tribunal said one after the other.
"That’s no big deal. I’ll expect to see you the same time tomorrow," the voice of the moon elf lord was heard from the inside.
Hearing the lord’s words, they walked away with the intent to start doing their tasks given by the moon elf lord. Some are almost running while some are not that fit and young enough to sprint like the others.
The young patriarch from the Isan Clan was stationed on the same place for a while as though he is contemplating on something, but ultimately turned his back and walked away.
Sibal, the representative of the Lune Clan and appointed by the Moon Elf Lord to be part of the Tribunal, stretched his tired back. Their daily meeting ended with the moon elf lord being finally adjourned and he felt his head throbbing from the session.
Honestly, Sibal is not sure what the moon elf lord is thinking when they are suddenly told to argue against each other. The moon elf lord even gave out scenarios that tested their judgment such as assault and murder.
For example; what if a certain someone from a certain clan committed a murder against someone who belongs to a different clan?
This solicited an agreement among the clans and the moon elf lord will add more specific details such as adding the attacker and victim’s clan. Making it more complicated.
Naturally, the patriarchs of the sampled clans responded strongly, one is offensive and the other is defensive. It almost came to a point where the two strong men were so heated that they almost threw punches at each other.
Of course, the others stated their opinion about this and as expected, contradictions are bound to arise once someone exposes their opinions. The moon elf lord will then ask, "Do you think that’s fair and will do justice for everyone?"
This further stimulates the argument.
’Thus the daily meeting with the moon elf lord became a bloodless war,’ as Sibal describes it.
He knows that the moon elf lord is doing this so that they can come up with policies that are both effective and reasonable and he cannot help but be in awe at the moon elf lord.
How can he juggle many heavy responsibilities? It is evident that the moon elf lord has great ambition seeing how hard-working the moon elf lord was.
’They fit together perfectly,’ Sibal thought as he remembered his friend Xagrien, who is hell-bent on training himself to become stronger.
Sibal doesn’t know what is going on but he knew it was an order from the moon elf lord.
So far, Sibal observed that the Moon Elf Lord’s kindness is not absolute. It changes depending on the situation and he doesn’t mind subjecting someone to heavy punishment before executing. Especially if it concerns life. To
Luis is slowly guiding them to become the administrators that embody his ideals and Sibal is sure that this is the best for all of them.
’A group that is ruled by majority...’ The orc looked at the bright blue sky. He never thought that such a setup was possible. Back to their tribe, everything was decided by the tribe leader so this way of the moon elf lord was new for him.
Being one of the representatives picked by the moon elf lord made him feel confident that finally, they can live a peaceful life. Maybe, this is also the reason why even the patriarchs who originally opposed the unification of the clans are silent.
"Oh, you’re still not going back?" Hylolas, the patriarch of the Hyon Clan asked the young man. He stopped walking upon seeing that Sibal halted his steps.
Contrary to Sibal, the mature and handsome moon elf showed no sign of tiredness. Hylolas looks refreshed as if the argument that happened earlier was nothing.
"I was just feeling the air, the wind in the Woodrill Plains seems to be effective in treating fatigue," says the black-haired young man. The other patriarch didn’t pay attention to them and they continued walking.
"It’s not wind, it’s the abundance of nature’s energy to be precise," Hylolas corrected. "The moon elf lord says that the excess nature’s energy throughout the Amber Forest is flowing towards here like it is the forest’s belly."
This is the prime reason why Luis chose this location, this place is the best for cultivating the moon elves and it is also good for improving the physique of the orcs.
Dan, the patriarch of the Adriha Clan chimed in, "Simply staying here does wonders to our plate. That is the reason why sentinels use this place as their training site."
Dan is a retired sentinel so he knows a lot about sentinels. He was one of the strongest warriors and in terms of strength, he is not that far from his prime.
The three men were walking far from the others so they were able to converse comfortably with each other.
"But I wonder why there’s no trees in this huge patch of land. It was such a waste that all the nature’s energy is just tending to grasses," Sibal sigh.
The two was silent for a while then Dan suddenly spoke, "We are not sure about this but the elders before us are saying that this land was cursed."
"Cursed?"
Dan nodded, "The elders said that this land was cursed when Lord Flamion blasted this area for some unknown reason. They said that a very special tree was destroyed in the process, angering the spirit of Tree of Life."
Hylolas chimed in, "For this reason, the clans didn’t dare to live in this area."
"That’s sad..." Sibal lowered his gaze then he asked after remembering something. "You said blasted, does this mean that the big blue lake that looked like the sea was made by the previous moon elf lord?"
"Yes."
"Moon Elf Lords are in completely different league. They are existence that could be considered lesser than gods in terms of strength," Dan said overflowing with pride. ’Now that the moon elf lord received the blessing and persistently training, it’s not surprise that he will reach the peak of his strength.’
Hylolas stiffened, "Patriarch Dan. I don’t think the moon elf lord will appreciate it if he heard you looking at him like that..."
Sibal scratched his head as he remembered his hardworking friend and felt pity. ’You need to infinitely work harder, Xagrien. My brother.’
"Wait, did you feel the tremors?" Hylolas stopped in his tracks. As an earth power moon elf, he is sensitive to the movements of the earth.
"No?" Sibal answered sounding skeptical but that is indeed his truth. He felt nothing.
"Me too," Dan echoed.
However, Hylolas is not convinced since he is certain that something underground is moving. His senses and powers have greatly improved since he used the training technique by the moon elf lord.
"I can’t be wrong about this," he said with certainty. Hylolas’ brown eyes glowed and he struck the ground with a heavy kick.
The ground crumbled and it opened a big hole and there he saw that a tunnel was made underground.
He quickly caught a glimpse of a wide and flat black-scaled tail that disappeared as it moved deeper into the tunnel.
Sibal saw this too and he was instantly alarmed. He was about to jump down the hole, ready to fight whatever that creature was.
However, Dan quickly held him on his shoulder to stop him. "Hold on, I don’t think this is an invasion."
"The moon elf lord may have a late visitor," Hylolas added and he ran back to the huge tent where the moon elf lord was. Sibal, although confused, tailed behind the running seniors.
’I hope that this is not a bad thing.’ Sibal uttered deep inside.
