Chapter 414: Chapter 406. Self Restraint
"Are you still sulking?"
Zein tilted his head to look at Bassena’s face, who had been stingy on words ever since the dinner. The most the man talked was probably when he was throwing shade at Senia, which the girl would retort in a cat-like hiss. Still, even their silent bickering was drowned by how hyper Reina and Han Shin were--as usual.
Surprisingly, Reina and Han Shin did not treat Senia too badly. The designer whispered to Zein that Senia was just like one of those spoiled girls in her academy days who was secretly insecure inside. Despite being the same age, Reina admitted Senia was a bit...childish; her immaturity stemmed from the fact that she wasn’t allowed to taste what it felt like to be a child normally.
And well...she just couldn’t hate her. The girl was annoying, and some of her past deeds were outright infuriating, but she also seemed to be very easily influenced by the people around her. Perhaps, if she kept meeting the right people, they could straighten this girl more.
Han Shin, meanwhile, just followed Reina’s judgment. He mainly ignored the girl, though, just busy praising himself for helping Reina develop the new uniform by designing better circuits inside the fabrics.
So, it could be said that Bassena was the only one who kept grumbling about her presence there.
Especially because the girl kept asking about where they lived.
Fortunately for everyone, Reina took charge and brought Senia to her hotel, as well as introduced her to a real estate agent.
It was kind of a weird day, going from arguing with someone they perceived as an enemy, to ending up having dinner with the same person. Not exactly a bad feeling for Zein, surprisingly. Perhaps because he was glad he could slowly change another esper’s perspective about guides.
But he had a sulky boyfriend to tame this time.
"Sena..."
"You can’t call me that just to make me stop being..." Bassena pressed his lips, trying to avoid saying ’sulky’ because it sounded childish. He sat down on the couch and crossed his arms, finally continuing with pursed lips. "Annoyed."
Zein chuckled and stroked the esper’s cheek with the back of his fingers. "I know you’re annoyed, but you do know there’s no loss from using her power, don’t you?"
Bassena turned his head away, brows furrowed as he mumbled. "That’s just makes me more annoyed."
"You know," Zein lowered his head until his lips were next to Bassena’s ear. "Using your adversary’s power to your cause is also a form of revenge."
Bassena tilted his head, moving his reddened ear away from Zein’s lips. The guide chuckled and straightened his back, only for Bassena to grab his hand and demand with a pout. "You haven’t guided me yet."
Zein smirked; the blue eyes curled and gleamed under the dimmed light of the living room. "I thought you’d never ask," he said, and rather than sitting on the couch to hold the esper’s hand, Zein pressed his knee on the couch, next to Bassena’s thigh, and grasped the esper’s face. "I was waiting so we could be alone."
This time, without Bassena asking for it, Zein was guiding him through a kiss, as if to tell him how special he was. And Bassena felt that, sucking air and tongue into his mouth as an intense sensation flooded his system. It wasn’t a soothing spring water that erased his rusty chain, but a rush of molten desire.
Indeed; Zein would never purposely make guiding pleasurable unless for Bassena.
As the warm hands of the esper pulled his waist and sat him on a sturdy lap, Zein chuckled between their fervent kiss. "Are you less annoyed, now?"
"I’ll get annoyed again if you stop," Bassena grumbled, before capturing the guide’s lips again.
But this pleasurable sensation did not work one way. Soon, Zein felt heat pooling inside him, as if Bassena’s hot breath was spreading all over his body. Chasing the rush, he started to twist his hips and moved his hands downward, working on the esper’s belt.
Ah...it was truly hard holding back. They had yet to touch each other ever since they visited the hospital, and the reason for it was easily shown when Bassena parted their kiss and grasped Zein’s hands. "I’m..." he swallowed and breathed heavily, pressing his head on Zein’s shoulder. "I don’t think I can."
"Still?" Zein stopped his fingers and stared at the esper’s slightly trembling back. He closed his eyes and kissed Bassena’s temple. "Alright," he chuckled softly. "Just touch me."
Bassena bit his lips and lifted his face. "I’m sorry..."
Zein wanted to laugh at the adorable display of this guilty giant puppy, and leaned down to kiss the man’s eyelids. "I’m telling you it’s fine."
"Do you want to do me instead?"
Zein looked at the flushed face of the man who usually had overflowing libido, and burst out laughing. He laid his head on Bassena’s shoulder as support, and stroked the esper’s neck to feel the erratic pulse. "That’s an enticing offer," Zein smirked. "But I don’t think I can cum without my ass today, so just hurry up and touch me."
Bassena could only take a deep breath and cursed his cowardly heart. "Gods--I love you so much."

"You looked like you’re in a bad mood," Abel narrowed his eyes when he looked at Zein, who had been treating his document rather harshly. "And I don’t think it’s because you had been chained to your desk all day. Well, not the main reason anyway."
Zein flicked his gaze up briefly before looking down again to check on each of his guides’ individual progress. "I’m sexually frustrated, I guess."
Abel was thankful that he wasn’t drinking anything because he might sprayed the water everywhere. "You? And Bassena Vaski?"
"I know, right?" Zein smirked. He too, had never thought that Bassena would be so traumatized that he couldn’t bring himself to penetrate Zein. Even when he was aroused himself.
It was cute at first, but Zein got rather impatient after a while. He didn’t even have that much libido usually, but...well, things certainly different when you got someone you loved and desired.
Zein wondered if it was karma from always keeping the man at arm’s length before they were in a relationship.
"That’s really not something I thought I would hear from you," Abel had no idea whether he wanted to laugh or be amazed. "If anything, I thought he would be the one feeling frustrated."
"I know, right?" Zein repeated, before stopping his hands from making notes on the documents, and just leaning back on his chair instead, crossing his arms and narrowing his eyes in contemplation. "Hmm...is it because I’m going to meet the Temple representatives later?"
"What? Do you think the Goddess cast a spell so you’re not defiled?" Abel laughed at the thought, before recalling that Zein was indeed, a Saint candidate.
Zein exhaled slowly. Well...he couldn’t exactly blame Bassena for getting scared of hurting him. He was glad that his esper was someone who truly cared about his wellbeing.
It was just...he also had a carnal desire to fulfill.
Haa...should he just meet the representative in the Temple instead? Perhaps the atmosphere would cleanse his worldly desire.
"Why do you have a meeting with the Temple? I forgot that I never asked," Abel looked at Zein inquisitively. For all he knew, Zein didn’t like the Temple--probably even more than espers who treated guides badly.
Espers who treated guides badly were bad, but the institution that should protect guides just to neglect the majority of them in favor of the ’elite’ ones was straight-out vile in Zein’s eyes.
And meeting the Saintess just cemented this view even more.
"They’re the ones who asked for a meeting, I just agreed," Zein shrugged.
The Temple’s representatives actually had been trying to contact Zein ever since his confrontation with the Saintess. Zein was just too fed up with them to accept any invitation. They kept sending requests for a meeting regularly, whether to annoy Zein enough or hoping for the best. He continued to ignore them, of course, but now he had something he needed from them, so he finally agreed with the request.
As the side that was clearly more desperate, the Temple management sent their representatives to Althrea instead.
"I want to see what they want to be that persistent," Zein tapped the armrest to ponder. "And I guess it’s time I gave them a piece of my mind."
"Or two,"
"Or two."
Abel smiled and secretly felt excited about how the exchange at that meeting would happen. If he could turn into a fly on the wall just to spectate, he would. "Ah, are you going to talk about your guide academy too?" he asked.
"I have to," Zein stretched out on his seat, staring at the document blankly with loathing. "All guide’s educational institutes need to be reported to the Temple."
"I know that; what I mean is..." Abel curled his lips. "Are you planning to get something from them about it?"
Zein paused and raised his brow. "I should, shouldn’t I?"
"I mean, they do sound desperate, don’t they?"
Zein chuckled and narrowed his eyes. It would depend on what exactly drove them to constantly seek meetings with him for months, but...if there was something he could utilize, then there was no reason to not take advantage of the place that had been harming the guides more than anyone.
After the sound of their soft laughter diminished, the two guides stopped and fell into silence for a few minutes.
"I have been too influenced by the guildmaster," Zein shook his head and sighed.
"Yeah..."
