Chapter 945: Chapter 768 Luo Kai: Someone Seems to Be Threatening the Judgement_2

“Based on the current progress, your world probably has about six months left. When I arrived, I noticed significantly more Abyssal aura outside the space than I had anticipated,” Shi said seriously.

“Pft—cough cough cough cough——”

Luo Kai nearly choked on his soda.

Shi glanced at him curiously.

Then he turned his head back toward Xu Shuo and continued, “So, what you’re suggesting is that I should grant you access to use the power of the ‘defense line,’ is that correct?”

Xu Shuo nodded, “Essentially, yes. So, what do you think?”

Shi frowned slightly.

The reason Shi used the term “you all” when directly addressing Xu Shuo was because he understood something.

Even though Luo Kai’s stack of threatening documents seemed menacing, they hardly carried any real force. If Xu Shuo didn’t share the same intention, it wouldn’t make sense to call Shi over.

So instead of saying Luo Kai was negotiating with Shi,

it’s more accurate to say that this was Xu Shuo’s idea.

Luo Kai was merely the one saddled with responsibility.

Shi paid no attention to Luo Kai, who was suppressing his coughing across the table.

He looked at Xu Shuo and said seriously, “I can’t agree to this. The power of the defense line won’t be made available to anyone, whether they are players or ordinary people.”

Xu Shuo nodded, “Los told me the same thing, but I still wanted to ask you. If we don’t use the defense line’s power, do you have any other way to preserve this world in its current form for about a century?”

This question plunged Shi into silence.

He seemed to be deep in thought, remaining quiet with his gaze lowered toward the table.

His divine, sculpted face bore no expression, his pale golden eyes faintly glowing with light—majestic and solemn, like a revered deity under daylight, unyielding and untouchable.

Luo Kai covered his mouth, avoiding excessive scrutiny of Judgment’s expression, though his eyes sought answers from Xu Shuo.

Then he noticed Xu Shuo playing on his phone.

Luo Kai: “…”

After a while.

Shi appeared to have finished contemplating.

He looked at Xu Shuo, who was busy replying to text messages, and solemnly said, “I’m sorry, but I can’t think of a solution.”

Upon hearing this, Luo Kai couldn’t hold back, “If there isn’t any solution, are you Judgments simply going to stand by and watch as this world is devoured by the Abyss? Isn’t Script Space’s Judgment specifically designed to handle Abyssal incidents? If so, why not intervene before things get even worse?”

He fired his words like a machine gun.

Once he finished speaking, he realized he had been improper and quickly straightened up, saying, “Apologies.”

But Shi had heard him clearly.

He turned to Luo Kai and said, “Judgment’s power has its limits. Beyond your world, there are countless others that require management. Defense line power cannot be handed over to anyone outside of Judgment; that is the Order established by the Tower of Judgment.”

As he spoke,

Shi gently raised his hand, and five threads of golden light emerged from his fingertips, stretching from one side of the table to the other.

The five threads flowed slowly and without interference.

“Order is this meticulously organized,” he remarked.

Then Shi tilted his head and addressed Xu Shuo again, “You can destroy them if you wish.”

At these words, Xu Shuo immediately reached out and grabbed Shi’s light-emitting hand, abruptly disrupting all the threads of light.

Without an energy foundation, the light dissipated in an instant.

Clearly, Shi hadn’t expected Xu Shuo’s decisive move.

Instead of severing one thread midway, Xu Shuo had directly cut off all the threads at their source, effectively ending Shi’s demonstration.

Shi’s expression turned somewhat helpless, and he said, “Ultimately, this is how it works. The defense line controlled by Judgment manifests Order; disrupting this Order will cause the entire system to collapse. Hm, you do understand programming, right?”

Luo Kai gazed at the scattered light particles on the table.

He had already calmed down.

Because, as Los had mentioned yesterday, Judgment doesn’t trust human rationality.

Nor would it ever make exceptions.

“So, are you saying we should just sit around and wait for this world to turn into the Abyss Battlefield in half a year?” Xu Shuo spoke up.

“For it to become the Abyss Battlefield, the defense line’s power would need to hold this world together in the first place. I must admit, the defense line I established isn’t entirely secure,” Shi replied honestly.

“…” Luo Kai stared at him with wide eyes.

“And what about the lives in this world? Are they just going to be ignored?” Xu Shuo asked calmly.

“That’s beyond our capabilities. I’m sorry,” Shi expressed his regret sincerely.

“…” Luo Kai was already in a state of stunned disbelief.

“What exactly is the purpose of you Judgments then?”

“To delay the time before a world is devoured,” Shi replied.

“…”

“If you can’t delay, you give up?”

“If preserving Order isn’t possible, we save what we can. If not, there’s no alternative. Otherwise, the Abyss wouldn’t have consumed so many worlds by now,” Shi explained.

“…”

“Are you seriously saying there’s no room for exceptions?”

“I’m sorry, that’s impossible,” Shi insisted firmly.

“…”

“Alright, then…”

Xu Shuo leaned back on the couch.

He tilted his head slightly, his tone warm and composed as he said, “I have a compromise, but I wonder if Themis would be willing to help.”

Shi blinked and looked at him, “Go ahead.”

Xu Shuo approached him with a gentle smile and said softly, “Themis, do you remember the mistake you made last time?”

Shi froze for a moment.

Xu Shuo smiled again and suddenly placed an arm around Shi’s shoulder, adopting a nostalgic expression as he began.

“Back then, you placed a bright, shining defense line in this world. Not only did it fail to serve its purpose, but it also became a beacon in the darkness, drawing unwanted attention over a long period of time.”

Shi lowered his eyes, blinking several times.

Xu Shuo considered and said, “Honestly, the reason this world is set to collapse in six months probably has something to do with the defense line, doesn’t it, Themis? What do you think?”

Shi: “…”

Luo Kai, watching as someone seemed to be blackmailing Judgment: “…”

Though he tried hard not to eavesdrop on the whispered conversation,

this whisper was really loud!

After quite a while,

Shi finally turned to the man next to him and said, “Yes, part of the fault is mine. So, what do you want me to do to help?”

Shi still remembered the incident.

When he noticed the defense line wasn’t working, he’d gone to the Tower of Judgment to scour the archives for the reason. Before he found it, the defense line suddenly resumed functioning.

So, he went off to handle other tasks.

But now that he had to revisit the matter,

it turned out the mistake lay with him.

So, Shi chose to be honest and accept accountability.

“But let’s be clear: If it goes against Order, I won’t agree to it—no matter what you say,” Shi muttered in a low voice.

“It’s not something that would trouble you. You can stick to your principles,” Xu Shuo replied as he released him. “The defense line’s power can’t be handed to ordinary people, so you should use it yourself.”

Luo Kai’s eyes lit up upon hearing this.

But he didn’t interrupt their conversation, simply watching Judgment with anticipation. This stern figure now seemed oddly agreeable.

Shi looked stunned, “You mean you want me to stay in this world to fight the Abyss? But I’m usually very busy; I can’t just remain here.”

Xu Shuo clarified, “You don’t need to stay here constantly, just show up whenever the Abyss appears and help deal with it.”

“That could work, but if I’m overwhelmed with other tasks, I might not have time…” Shi hesitated.

“If that’s no good and the other option’s a problem…”

“Why don’t I leave a Judgment Avatar for you?”

Shi suddenly clapped his hands excitedly.

Xu Shuo paused mid-sentence.

Initially, he was going to suggest, “If none of that’s possible, why don’t you leave some kind of benefit behind for us?”

But now, curiosity got the better of him regarding Shi’s concept of an avatar.

Shi eagerly exclaimed, “Judgment Avatar is something I recently learned about at the Tower of Judgment. I spent ages reading through the manuals before finally discovering this capability; no one had taught me about it before.”

Xu Shuo’s expression turned peculiar, “Judgment Avatar? So this will be your first time trying it?”

He recalled how Shi had recently visited the First Palace for the first time.

And, apparently, had been coaxed into leaving shortly afterward.

Shi nodded, “Wait for me; I’ll give this a try within the defense line!”

With that, Shi eagerly vanished.

Xu Shuo stared at the now-empty space beside him.

His hopes weren’t particularly high.
