Of course, Chen Xiaoyi was even more surprised.

She was only concerned about Luo Ziling’s whereabouts and had not inquired about Ouyang Feifei’s affairs, therefore,she was unaware that Ouyang Feifei had come with Luo Ziling.

Luo Ziling certainly did not think that Chen Xiaoyi was unaware of Ouyang Feifei’s presence here. He felt that since Chen Xiaoyi had found out where he was staying and that he came to attend the Chinese medicine annual conference, she must surely know that Ouyang Feifei was with him. Therefore, upon seeing Ouyang Feifei, he casually cracked a few jokes.

“Miss Ouyang, how come you are here?” When Chen Xiaoyi came forward to greet Ouyang Feifei, she asked in surprise, “Are you also here to attend the traditional Chinese medicine conference?”

In Chen Xiaoyi’s mind, someone like Ouyang Feifei seemed totally unrelated to the traditional Chinese medicine conference.

“I came with Ziling to attend the conference,” Ouyang Feifei said indifferently: “I didn’t expect Miss Chen to have run over to Yangcheng to cover the event!”

“I heard there was a commotion here, so I hurried over. News is all about timeliness, and as a journalist, you have to run all over the place!” Chen Xiaoyi smiled with an air of arrogance, “But I was under the impression that Miss Ouyang wasn’t interested in Chinese medicine?”

“I’m accompanying Luo Ziling here!” Ouyang Feifei spoke in the same indifferent tone.

Chen Xiaoyi looked at Luo Ziling and then at Ouyang Feifei, with a somewhat incredulous expression.

“A bunch of us came together,” Luo Ziling could only offer an awkward explanation.

“Oh!” Chen Xiaoyi exclaimed, then had nothing else to say.

Ouyang Feifei asked Luo Ziling how they would sort out dinner, whether to join the conference group meal, find a place to eat on their own, or have someone deliver it to their room. Luo Ziling, who was already worried about this issue, suddenly had an idea when Ouyang Feifei mentioned having food delivered to the room.

“I’m pretty tired from today’s lectures, and people might come over to visit later. Let’s just eat in the room. I’ve heard the hotel’s food is quite good.”

Hearing Luo Ziling say that, Ouyang Feifei immediately instructed Wang Qing, who was following behind her, to have the hotel deliver meals to the room.

“Come to our room and join us, and call your colleagues over as well,” Luo Ziling said with a smile to Chen Xiaoyi: “The more the merrier!”

Chen Xiaoyi hesitated for a moment but ultimately agreed.

Thus, a group of people made their way to the room where Ouyang Feifei and Luo Ziling were staying.

Seeing that Luo Ziling was actually staying with Ouyang Feifei, Chen Xiaoyi was extremely surprised. Even though there were several other people in the suite, an intense feeling of unease crept over her. Chen Xiaoyi felt that the relationship between Luo Ziling and Ouyang Feifei was far more complicated than it seemed on the surface.

The two had once been engaged, and now they appeared quite close; naturally, she thought of the uncomfortable possibilities.

Yet, she couldn’t show it.

After entering the room, Ouyang Feifei hosted Chen Xiaoyi and her colleagues with the grace of a lady of the house, which left Chen Xiaoyi feeling a bit sore. But she was also a cunning person and did not openly compete with Ouyang Feifei; the two women simply rivaled each other covertly.

Ouyang Feifei was slightly more composed than Chen Xiaoyi, seemingly unruffled by Chen Xiaoyi’s presence. However, the subtle rivalry between the two beautiful women did not escape the notice of others.

It’s just that they were very clever, nobody pried into the matter, instead, they just quietly ate their food.

The other three people who came with Luo Ziling and Ouyang Feifei, plus Chen Xiaoyi and her three colleagues, nine people in total, gathered around a table for the meal. The atmosphere was a bit somber, but eventually, Li Jing and Luo Ziling lightened the mood, turning it more relaxed.

After dinner, Chen Xiaoyi’s colleagues took their leave.

Luo Ziling, Ouyang Feifei, and Chen Xiaoyi went into the small reception room inside to talk business while the others stayed outside.

Once they sat down, Chen Xiaoyi asked Luo Ziling, “Ziling, tomorrow is the end of the year, the last day. Do you have any plans?”

“Didn’t Journalist Chen just say that news has timeliness? After finishing your interview and report, aren’t you in a hurry to rush back to produce the show?” Ouyang Feifei asked with a hint of curiosity.

“I’ll try to finish producing the show tonight and send it to the station; it should be able to air. Then it’s New Year’s holidays. Since I came all the way to the warm south, I should at least stay a couple of days before heading back.” Chen Xiaoyi smiled provocatively at Ouyang Feifei, “Or does Miss Ouyang not welcome me?”

“Miss Chen, you flatter me!” Ouyang Feifei responded unflustered and said no more.

“Tomorrow is the year’s end?” Luo Ziling, afraid that the two women would start quarreling, hurriedly interjected, “I don’t feel it at all. Back in the small village in the Northwest, I only celebrated the Lunar New Year with my grandfather, I never had any feeling for the Gregorian New Year. Actually, tomorrow is just another ordinary day, it doesn’t matter whether we celebrate it or not, attending classes, eating, sleeping!”

“What if I treat you to dinner tomorrow? How does that sound?” Chen Xiaoyi quickly asked Luo Ziling, but then felt it was not quite appropriate, “I mean, I’ll treat the two of you to dinner, okay?”

Luo Ziling instantly felt a bit of a headache and joked, “Eating with you two beauties might draw some jealous eyes, you know? Someone might not be able to stand it and come looking for trouble with me.”

His comment managed to simultaneously earn the dissatisfaction of both Ouyang Feifei and Chen Xiaoyi.

“If you don’t want to have dinner with us, just say so,” Ouyang Feifei said a bit angrily.

“Alright, alright, I’ll treat you two beauties to dinner,” Luo Ziling had to change his tone, “I wonder if the two beauties would do me the honor?”

Chen Xiaoyi said, “You’ve gained fame and have the company of a great beauty like Miss Ouyang, you definitely should celebrate. Plus, I’ve put in so much effort to produce your show, you owe me thanks. You really should be the one treating.”

“Alright, alright, whatever you want to eat, just say!” Luo Ziling didn’t want to argue with them anymore.

“I want to eat Western food!” Chen Xiaoyi was the first to suggest.

“Chinese food,” Ouyang Feifei voiced a different opinion, but then quickly added, “Since you’re treating, you should decide!”

“I like Chinese food too, so let’s go with that. We’ll just add a steak to the order when we get to the restaurant!” Luo Ziling could only take a compromising approach.

His suggestion, however, was met with rolled eyes from both women.

Fortunately, Chen Xiaoyi did not linger in the room for long. She remembered she still had to edit and produce the show, so after a bit of small talk, she took her leave as well, saying she needed to get back to work.

Luo Ziling finally breathed a sigh of relief.

But to his surprise, no sooner had the troublesome Chen Xiaoyi left than another problem arrived.

Ouyang Huihui had actually come to Yangcheng by herself and found the hotel where they were staying.

Upon hearing the knock, Li Jing went to open the door, and Ouyang Huihui walked into the room.

Seeing the beautifully dressed Ouyang Huihui appear before them, both Luo Ziling and Ouyang Feifei were stunned.
