Chapter 993 - Chapter 993 Chapter 993 Dare to Bet
Chapter 993: Chapter 993: Dare to Bet? Chapter 993: Chapter 993: Dare to Bet? The beautiful woman who stopped Luo Ziling was Chen Xiaoyi.
She came over with her colleagues for an interview.
Upon learning that Luo Ziling had used his medical skills to rescue severe respiratory infection patients, she volunteered to lead the team for the interview.
While preparing for the interview, she sent Luo Ziling messages and also made phone calls.
However, what infuriated her was that Luo Ziling did not reply to her messages or answer her calls, and after trying to reach him over ten times to no avail, Chen Xiaoyi almost smashed her phone.
Upon seeing Luo Ziling, she vented out her grievances.
“Luo Ziling, you’ve gone too far, not responding to my messages or answering my calls. I called you more than ten times and sent the same number of messages,” Chen Xiaoyi expressed her anger, regardless of her colleagues being around, holding up her phone towards Luo Ziling.
“Uh, I had something very important today, so I didn’t have my phone with me. Just now when I checked it, my phone had crashed due to too many missed calls and messages,” Luo Ziling embarrassedly explained, “I was also too busy with other matters to check my phone. By the way, what did you want to see me about?”
“It’s to interview you, of course!” Although Luo Ziling explained honestly and Chen Xiaoyi accepted his explanation, she still felt somewhat resentful. “I heard that through your marvelous treatment, many severe respiratory infection patients have recovered. So, I wanted to interview you.”
“How about after I finish re-examining them?” Seeing Chen Xiaoyi’s lips pout in frustration, Luo Ziling felt even more embarrassed, “Although they haven’t reported any unusual symptoms, I still want to check on them to be reassured. If further treatment is necessary, then I will need to continue treating them.”
“Alright,” Chen Xiaoyi wasn’t an unreasonable woman, and she finally forgave Luo Ziling, “Then I’ll wait for you in the outside conference room, but you must give me an exclusive interview. You cannot accept interviews from other TV correspondents before our program airs.”
Seeing the serious look on Chen Xiaoyi’s face, Luo Ziling jokingly responded with a bit of grievance, “If other TV stations also send beauties like you, and if they use beauty tricks on me, I think I might not be able to resist.”
Chen Xiaoyi was immediately stunned, and then she got extremely angry, “Then I’ll use beauty tricks too, how about that?”
“I don’t think I enjoy selling my looks.” After chuckling, Luo Ziling quickly escaped into the ward.
Chen Xiaoyi was fuming behind him, but she ultimately did not chase in to continue grilling Luo Ziling.
There were already numerous press reporters waiting in the hallway and in the conference room, but many of them didn’t know who Luo Ziling was, so when he appeared, no other reporters approached him. His squabble with Chen Xiaoyi also went unnoticed by most of the crowd.
As members of the expert panel, Wu Mingyun, Li Mingxun, and the head of respiratory department were in the doctor’s office, still discussing the patients’ conditions with several other doctors. When they saw Luo Ziling enter, they immediately stopped talking and waved him over.
“Doctor Luo, it’s truly miraculous,” the head of the respiratory department began, “After your treatment, all the patients’ symptoms have significantly eased. Those with high fevers have all subsided, the rales in their lungs have mostly disappeared, and various indicators on the cardiac monitors, along with blood gases, biochemical immunoassays, and other routine tests, and levels of BNP and cTnI, have all improved. You’ve really opened our eyes; the efficacy of traditional medicine is indeed miraculous.”
“Ziling, thank you so much,” Wu Mingyun sincerely thanked again, “It’s good that we boldly asked for your help, otherwise we might have had fatalities today. You’ve solved a big problem for us and saved so many lives; everyone is thankful to you.”
“Ziling, you’ve changed everyone’s views. Previously, not many people cared about traditional medicine, but your miraculous performance yesterday won everyone over,” Li Mingxun also said with a smile, “We should often ask for your assistance in the future and learn from you.”
Luo Ziling was about to respond humbly, but then he heard an older doctor speak dismissively, “We shouldn’t attribute all the credit for the patients’ improvement to him alone. It’s like if you’re not full after eating three buns, but are full after eating a fourth–it’s wrong to say the first three buns had no effect. Perhaps, if we had continued with the original treatment plan, the patients’ conditions might have improved as well.”
Luo Ziling was about to be modest, but hearing the other party dismiss his efforts angered him, and he retorted sharply, “You’re comparing my efforts to the last bun, minimizing my medical skills. How about this, I withdraw my prescription, and you continue with the original treatment plan to see if the patients continue to improve or deteriorate again? If these patients’ conditions worsen or even result in death, will you take full responsibility?”
Everyone was stunned; no one expected Luo Ziling to speak like that, including the doctor who had mocked Luo Ziling.
“We can make a bet. I bet if I take back the prescription and stop treatment, within a week their conditions will worsen again. You can stand by your view, and we can place a significant bet, maybe a billion or even one’s life,” Luo Ziling said lightly, then more sternly added, “Do you dare to bet?”
The other party was at a loss for words, too afraid to agree.
“If you don’t have the confidence to stand by your opinion, then shut your mouth and stop making a fuss,” Luo Ziling continued reprimanding him, “Practice is the sole criterion for testing truth. I have proven my medical skills through my actions. What evidence do you have for your views? If you think you can help them recover, go ahead and take over all the patients. Use your medical skills to heal them completely, and all the credit will be yours.”
Wu Mingyun patted Luo Ziling on the shoulder, smiling, “Ziling, don’t take it to heart so much; everyone is concerned about the patients’ health. It’s mainly your medical skills; they’re so extraordinary that many people can’t believe it. If we hadn’t seen it with our own eyes, we wouldn’t believe it either.”
“Well, people prone to jealousy are everywhere,” Luo Ziling said, ignoring the doctor who had been walked off by the Chief of the Respiratory Department, “I’d like to first check the patients to see who might still need treatment, and then decide based on their conditions whether to change the prescription.”
“We’ll come with you,” Wu Mingyun volunteered, “We’d like to see your acupuncture skills firsthand.”
“If their conditions have improved, then there’s no need for acupuncture!”
“…”
That moment, the sounds of bustling footsteps grew louder, then a crowd of people surged into the doctor’s office.
Looking up, Luo Ziling saw that it was Yang Yunlin arriving again.
