Chapter 966 - Chapter 966 Chapter 966 Attacked Again
Chapter 966: Chapter 966: Attacked Again Chapter 966: Chapter 966: Attacked Again “It’s been a long time since I’ve last been out for some fun,” said Ling Ruonan, brimming with excitement despite the cold weather and the snowflakes falling from the sky.
Her high spirits were primarily because of Luo Ziling’s company, and the presence of two beautiful girls subtly competing for her son’s favor. Of course, the changed attitudes of the two elder members of the Ling Family, supporting her and Luo Ziling while denouncing other descendants of the Ling Family who opposed them, played a major role in lifting her spirits.
The twists and turns that Luo Ziling had gone through to arrive at this current situation were beyond what Ling Ruonan had expected.
Ling Mingrui had secretly agreed to arrange for Luo Xusheng to be transferred to a different position soon. If nothing went wrong, Luo Xusheng would leave Tibet, where he had been for nearly twenty years, to take up a post in the Sichuan Region after the New Year. Although the Sichuan Region was still far from the Capital, the living conditions were much better. This was an important sign and a very significant beginning.
The situation was looking very favorable, and she breathed a sigh of relief. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have felt like coming out to play with Luo Ziling today.
Her opinion of Luo Ziling had also changed; at least in her current feeling, Luo Ziling was much stronger than Luo Xu had been back then. Luo Xu in those days was more stubborn than Luo Ziling and lacked flexibility, sticking doggedly to one course of action which ultimately led to irreparable outcomes.
If Luo Xu had been as cunning as Luo Ziling, often engaging in clever tactics and knowing how to use others’ power to his advantage, perhaps they would not have faced twenty years of separation, and they could have even come together openly.
Of course, her inviting Luo Ziling out today had another purpose, which she couldn’t share with anyone else.
Hearing that Luo Ziling wanted to go skating and Wuyue too, Ling Ruonan didn’t object; she let them have their fun.
She was accompanied by Yang Xiaodong, Wang Zhenjun, and a few other bodyguards.
With Feifei’s assistant and personal bodyguard Wang Qing present and Qingyin’s attendant Ye Xiaoli also there, Luo Ziling wasn’t worried with so many skilled people around. Thus, when he saw Ling Ruonan did not object, he was eager to go skating.
With so many beautiful women around, showing off his skating skills to earn their cheers and applause–well, Ziling’s vanity was indeed quite strong.
“Go ahead, it’s not crowded now. I’ll watch you guys skate from the side and take some pictures and videos for you,” Ling Ruonan said smilingly to Luo Ziling and Wuyue, “but be careful not to fall.”
“Mom, you underestimate me. How could I fall?” Luo Ziling replied with a laugh, then called Wuyue over and asked Qingyin and Feifei if they wanted to come and watch. “Do you want to see how I skate? Or maybe, after watching for a while, I could teach you?”
“Then let’s go and watch your clumsy fall,” Qingyin said, throwing Luo Ziling a playful look.
“You guys go ahead, I’ll stay with Mrs. Ling for a while to discuss some matters, and join you later for the fun,” Feifei smiled at Luo Ziling and then walked back to Ling Ruonan.
So, Luo Ziling, Wuyue, and Qingyin headed towards the skating area.
They didn’t bring their skating gear, so they had to rent it.
Ye Xiaoli followed them, tasked with ensuring Qingyin’s safety.
Today Qingyin didn’t dress up deliberately, showing her natural appearance. However, she wore snow goggles and had her jacket’s hood pulled over her head, making it difficult to recognize her unless someone got very close and knew her well.
Ye Xiaoli could skate too, a skill she had learned before; the same was true for Wang Qing. However, they wouldn’t go skating unless Qingyin and Feifei went onto the ice.
Wuyue skated with Luo Ziling, actually to ensure his safety–a thought that instinctively popped into Qingyin’s and Feifei’s heads after being initially surprised. Thus, when Wuyue joined Luo Ziling on the ice, they found nothing odd in it, and Qingyin even took out her phone to take pictures of them.
After reaching the skating service point, Luo Ziling and Wuyue each rented a pair of hockey skates.
“Wuyue, how good are your skating skills?” Luo Ziling whispered while they were changing their shoes.
“You’ll see in a bit,” Wuyue replied with a hint of pride.
“Okay,” Luo Ziling chuckled, “Let’s see who’s better and who can perform more tricks in a while.”
“Alright!” Wuyue cheerfully agreed.
Luo Ziling changed into his skates and didn’t wait for Wuyue; he immediately started skating.
After a quick start, he picked up speed and executed a 360-degree jump, then skated back to where Wuyue was still preparing to start. He smiled and said, “Sister Wuyue, come on, let’s go together.”
“It seems, your skating skills are superior to mine!” Wuyue, having seen Luo Ziling’s moves just then, couldn’t help but be a bit astonished. From his initial stance, she knew his skills were far superior to hers. Out of curiosity, she asked, “Where did you learn to skate so well?”
“I taught myself. For the past twenty years, every winter I faced thick ice and snow.”
“Okay, I see,” Wuyue didn’t ask further.
Wuyue’s skating skills were also quite good, a result of her time serving in the military in the north.
Having spent two years in the Northeast, training amidst ice and snow, skiing and skating had become essential skills for her to learn.
However, she hadn’t expected Luo Ziling to be more proficient than her.
The number of people skating on the Beihai ice was always quite substantial, but since it was still early, the crowd wasn’t very large.
With fewer people around, they could freely perform any manoeuvre they desired.
Luo Ziling, young and rash, quickly accelerated his speed and had Wuyue chasing after him.
“If you can catch up to me, I’ll treat you to a big meal,” Luo Ziling teased Wuyue with a laugh.
Wuyue didn’t respond verbally but immediately put in all her effort to chase him.
But Luo Ziling was much faster than her, slowly increasing the distance. However, she quickly changed her strategy and took a shortcut to catch him.
Just as she was about to catch up with Luo Ziling, he suddenly leapt into the air, spun around almost 540 degrees, and switched directions towards the other side. Then he jumped high, leaping over the heads of several other skaters, landing several meters away amid their exclamations.
Luo Ziling’s exquisite skating skills surprised not only Wuyue but also Yang Qingyin, who watched excitedly from the side of the rink.
After capturing a few videos and photos of Luo Ziling, Qingyin shouted his name several times as he skated close by.
Just as Luo Ziling was excitedly skating and teasing the pursuing Wuyue, an unexpected incident occurred.
A skater with very familiar skills after several fast laps suddenly charged towards Luo Ziling.
Luo Ziling was flaunting his techniques with stationary jumps and spins when he realized something was wrong, and the skater was already very close.
Without slowing down, the skater came up close to Luo Ziling.
Amid the gleaming light, Luo Ziling saw a bright, shining dagger stabbing towards his face…
