After a casual visit to the back garden, Luo Xusheng and Ling Ruonan invited everyone to sit down for lunch.

It was quite late, and both Ouyang Lingyun and Luo Liansheng were a bit embarrassed.

Luo Liansheng’s embarrassment stemmed from his inadequate hospitality, as the old mansion was still undergoing repairs and was not in the best condition.

Whereas Ouyang Lingyun’s embarrassment was due to their late arrival in Yuezhou, causing everyone to start lunch late.

However, the polite remarks from the two elders helped to relax the atmosphere.

Luo Ziling quickly poured wine for both elders and then filled the glasses for everyone else, offering a toast alongside Luo Liansheng, Luo Xusheng, and Ling Ruonan. While wishing everyone a Happy New Year, he also asked for their understanding for any shortcomings in their hospitality.

During the meal, though, the two old men chatted the most.

Luo Ziling, Ling Ruonan, and Ouyang Feifei only chimed in occasionally, while the others, Wuyue, Ouyang Feifei, and Luo Xusheng, remained mostly silent. Luo Yuqing, who was usually lively, wisely kept her mouth shut in such a situation today.

One could say that among everyone present, she and Ouyang Huihui felt the most awkward.

With her identity unconfirmed, she dared not claim to be a member of the Luo Family in front of outsiders, especially respected elders like Ouyang Lingyun. Being unable to claim kinship with the Luo Family made her presence at the Luo Family Old Mansion rather uncomfortable.

Thus, after lunch and while preparing to go into town, she quietly suggested to Luo Ziling that they should clarify the matter with Luo Xusheng as soon as possible and get the paternity test done quickly.

Luo Ziling agreed. He told Luo Yuqing that once they were in town, he would find an opportunity to discuss the matter alone with Luo Xusheng.

However, after lunch, they did not head into town immediately; Luo Liansheng proposed that they accompany Ouyang Lingyun to Orchid Pavilion for a visit.

Ouyang Lingyun gladly accepted.

So, the group accompanied the two elders to Orchid Pavilion once again.

On the first day of the New Year, the old acquaintances of Luo Liansheng had returned home for the celebration, but Orchid Pavilion was still bustling with people.

During the holiday, many took advantage of the long break to travel, and the famous scenic spot of Orchid Pavilion became a tourist destination for many visitors.

Once inside the scenic area, Luo Ziling found the opportunity to discuss with Luo Xusheng about the paternity test.

He told Luo Xusheng that he had already contacted the staff in charge of forensic evidence at Yuezhou Police Bureau and they could take samples for testing at any time, with results ready in two days. After contemplating for a while, Luo Xusheng also agreed.

"Then let’s collect the samples and send them over when we return to town this evening, to get the results as soon as possible."

Luo Xusheng was now very eager to know if Luo Yuqing was truly his biological daughter.

Knowing whether she was or not was extremely important to him; thus, he immediately accepted Luo Ziling’s suggestion.

However, the father and son did not inform Ling Ruonan of this matter, deciding to tell her only after the results were out.

The group enjoyed their visit to Orchid Pavilion quite a bit.

In his younger days, Luo Xusheng was strictly taught by Luo Liansheng, which is why he knew a lot, especially in the field of calligraphy, where he was particularly skilled.

His calligraphy was impressive, and that was one of the reasons, although not a significant one, why Ling Ruonan took a liking to him.

Back in the day, to win Ling Ruonan’s affection, Luo Xusheng wrote her several pieces of calligraphy, one of which was the "Preface to the Poems Composed at the Orchid Pavilion." When the two of them eloped to Yuezhou back then, they had also visited this place and Luo Xusheng had written a piece of calligraphy for Ling Ruonan at Orchid Pavilion.

Returning to this familiar place, both Luo Xusheng and Ling Ruonan felt quite emotional, and they rarely showed their affection for one another in front of others by naturally holding hands.

The one who felt most out of place was Luo Ziling.

He had visited Orchid Pavilion three or four times recently, and today with Ouyang Feifei, Ouyang Huihui, Luo Yuqing, and Wuyue around—so many women with whom he had complicated and unclear relationships—it was certain he couldn’t find the right mood.

Therefore, most of his time was spent accompanying the two elders, and he even became Ouyang Lingyun’s tour guide, explaining the history and scenery to them. Luo Ziling kept her distance from everyone, whether it was the sisters Ouyang Feifei and Ouyang Huihui, or Luo Yuqing; none of them were particularly happy about it.

Wuyue, on the other hand, didn’t mind at all; in fact, she preferred seeing Luo Ziling hanging around with the two elders, as it made her feel more at ease.

Around 3:30 in the afternoon, after taking a phone call, Wuyue approached Ling Ruonan and whispered a few questions to her.

After receiving Ling Ruonan’s reply, Wuyue made a call back.

Luo Ziling guessed it was the officials from Yuezhou who had contacted her, wanting to meet with Ling Ruonan.

As such, after Wuyue finished the call, she went up to inquire.

"Young Master, they wish to pay a visit to Miss tonight," Wuyue didn’t hide anything and told Luo Ziling the details, "just now, Miss said to let them come around 7:30 pm. To the hotel where we are staying!"

"I’ll ask the grandfather and grandson later whether they want to meet with the officials from Yuezhou," Luo Ziling pointed to Ouyang Lingyun and Ouyang Feifei, "If they are willing to see them, we can make separate arrangements!"

"It’s best to let Miss decide about that!" Wuyue didn’t dare take charge and also hoped Luo Ziling wouldn’t decide on his own.

"I know!"

The very fact that Luo Ziling and Wuyue were whispering together successfully provoked jealousy in the other women.

But neither Luo Ziling nor Wuyue paid any attention to them.

After whispering with Wuyue, Ling Ruonan directly asked Ouyang Feifei: "Tonight, officials from Yuezhou will come to visit. Would you like to meet them?"

"Aunt Ling, I’ll accompany you to receive them," Ouyang Feifei immediately agreed, "Grandfather may not be interested in seeing them, so let him have a chat with Grandfather Luo instead!"

"Okay!" Ling Ruonan expressed no other opinion.

After leaving the Orchid Pavilion, the group returned to the city.

Wuyue had already booked rooms for everyone.

This time, Ouyang Feifei’s personal assistant, Wang Qing, didn’t come along, so all these miscellaneous matters were entrusted to Wuyue.

Wuyue booked dinner at the Yuezhou Grand Hotel, and after the group returned to the city, they went straight to the dinner venue.

Since they were to receive the officials from Yuezhou that evening, Ling Ruonan and Ouyang Feifei didn’t drink any alcohol. Luo Ziling also abstained from drinking; it was Luo Xusheng who accompanied the two elders for drinks.

After dinner, everyone went back to their rooms to rest. Ling Ruonan and Ouyang Feifei prepared to receive the Yuezhou officials who would be arriving soon.

Meanwhile, Luo Ziling took the opportunity of going back to his room to retrieve blood and hair samples from Luo Xusheng, Luo Yuqing, and himself, preparing to hand them over to the Yuezhou Police Bureau officials arriving with Wu Jianjun and Ding Zhongming.

Luo Ziling had already arranged with the Yuezhou Police Bureau officials to come and collect the samples that evening.

The police officer in charge of criminal investigation technology arrived at the hotel twenty minutes earlier than Wu Jianjun and Ding Zhongming, took the samples, and then left. As he was leaving, he told Luo Ziling that the results would be ready the afternoon the day after tomorrow, and he would personally deliver the report to him.

Thinking that he would soon find out the real relationship with Luo Yuqing, Luo Ziling was a bit excited and anticipatory.

Luo Yuqing felt the same way.

After Luo Ziling handed the samples to the police officer, Luo Yuqing pulled him into her room and said mysteriously, "Junior, we’ll know our real relationship soon. "Ziling, could you accompany me for a walk tonight? I have something very important to discuss with you privately!"

With both women making special requests, Luo Ziling was in a bit of a dilemma.
