Chapter 1210 - Chapter 1210 Chapter 1210 Help
Chapter 1210: Chapter 1210: Help Chapter 1210: Chapter 1210: Help Seeing Secretary Huang Chen enter in casual clothes, Huang Long did not show any surprise; instead, he severely scolded him.
Huang Chen did not argue back, but simply lowered his head and silently accepted the scolding from his elder brother.
However, their elderly grandmother, who adored her son, mumbled to her older grandson not to get agitated and to speak nicely.
“Mom, brother, I’m sorry,” Huang Chen apologized with his head down. “I failed to take care of our family. I am sorry to you all.”
Since Ling Jinhua did not have any other secretaries around him who could be fully trusted, Huang Chen had not taken any vacations for years, nor had he had time to go home.
His elderly mother had always been cared for by his brother.
He sent most of his substantial allowance back home, but it still wasn’t enough for his mother’s medical treatment.
Luo Ziling knew that Huang Chen was married and had a son.
His wife also worked in the military and earned a meager allowance, which was really insufficient to cover more family expenses.
Fortunately, they had government-provided housing to live in, otherwise, they would struggle to make ends meet.
Luo Ziling found it somewhat difficult to imagine this.
In his mind, Secretary Huang Chen, who worked closely with the elder, held boundless power, and even had authority to issue orders on behalf of the elder in many instances. Those who wanted to ingratiate themselves with him were plentiful; obtaining personal gains seemed extremely easy.
Suddenly, Luo Ziling felt a greater fondness for this usually serious middle-aged man.
“Ziling, can my mother’s illness be cured?” After getting scolded thoroughly by his brother, Huang Chen did not retort but instead asked Luo Ziling about his own mother’s illness.
“I cannot guarantee it one hundred per cent,” Luo Ziling honestly replied, “but your mother’s condition, compared to Dragon Rise Li Haiyang’s injury, should be relatively easier to treat. However, one area where your mother falls short of Li Haiyang is her physical robustness and her confidence in her own recovery. I’ll do my best!”
Luo Ziling’s words slightly relieved Huang Chen.
“Then I entrust my mother to you. Whatever the expenses, just say the word; no matter how expensive the medicine, I will find a way to cover it.” Actually, Huang Chen said this to reassure his mother and his brother, to spare them from worry.
“No problem,” Luo Ziling smiled, “then let me try to treat her once first, to see how it goes.”
As Luo Ziling spoke, he instructed the grandmother to lie down on the bed and asked Huang Chen and his brother to help their grandmother undress.
“Can he do it?” As they helped their mother into the room, Huang Long asked Huang Chen uncertainly. “He’s so young; can his medical skills really be that good?”
Seeing as Huang Long had spoken in their local dialect, Luo Ziling did not understand him.
“It’s precisely because I know his medical skills are exceptional that I asked you to bring Mom here. I have personally witnessed several miracles, and I believe in him,” Huang Chen replied succinctly.
“Does he charge a lot? You know, over the years, the cost of treating Mom has plunged our family into considerable debt. The money you sent back was all spent on her medical expenses,” Huang Long said with a worried look, concerned, “If his fees are high, we won’t be able to afford it.”
“I will handle that,” Huang Chen said hesitantly, then said no more, helping his mother to lie down and, as Luo Ziling requested, undressing her and carefully wiping her several times with a warm towel.
The primary focus of Luo Ziling’s treatment were the points along the head and the spine.
Clearing these acupoints could greatly improve the blockages in neural conduction.
As Huang Chen and Huang Long watched, Luo Ziling inserted the first needle into the grandmother’s head.
Huang Long was startled and wanted to rush forward but was stopped by a look from Huang Chen.
Huang Chen had seen Luo Ziling treat Ling Jinhua several times and was thus quite familiar with his acupuncture technique.
He had always been very calm, so he didn’t make a sound during Luo Ziling’s treatment.
Luo Ziling treated the elderly lady for nearly an hour before finishing.
By the time the treatment was over, his clothes were soaked with sweat.
The elderly lady’s complexion had become much rosier than before.
However, she had fallen asleep and was even snoring.
Almost exhausted, Luo Ziling sat on the ground and took the elderly lady’s pulse.
After a careful examination, Luo Ziling said to Huang Chen, embarrassed, “Help me outside to sit down; I need to write a prescription.”
Huang Chen immediately stepped forward, helped Luo Ziling to the sofa, and provided him with paper and pen.
Luo Ziling quickly wrote down the prescription and prepared to hand it to Huang Chen.
But as Huang Chen reached out to take it, Luo Ziling pulled it back.
“Never mind, I’ll get the medicine myself; I’m afraid you might buy something of inferior quality.” Luo Ziling said, pulling a small bag from his pocket, pouring out a pill, and handing it to Huang Chen, then instructing, “Divide this into five doses, take one daily with warm water before bed.”
“Okay!” Huang Chen took it without asking further.
Luo Ziling rested for a while and, feeling his strength had mostly returned, stood up.
“That’s all for today’s treatment; I’ll come by again tomorrow, probably after lunch,” Luo Ziling said with a smile. “The old man has a habit of taking a nap at noon; you should have some free time then.”
Huang Chen didn’t expect Luo Ziling to be so thoughtful and was touched, but he just nodded lightly.
“During these days, the elderly lady’s diet should consist mainly of easy-to-digest soups and porridges. You must ensure she gets enough nutrition,” Luo Ziling continued to instruct. “Her appetite might improve during the treatment, but don’t let her eat too much. You must control the amount of food to prevent indigestion.”
“Okay!” After agreeing, Huang Chen gave some instructions to his brother in their native dialect.
Luo Ziling didn’t say much more and prepared to leave.
“Brother, I’m going back too; if I’m free tonight, I’ll come over to see mom again,” Huang Chen said to Huang Long. “Tonight, I’ll have Xiaozhen bring the kids over to see mom; Xiaozhen has the day off tomorrow so she can take care of mom.”
Li Xiaozhen was Huang Chen’s wife, and Huang Chen planned to have his wife look after his mother the next day.
Huang Long didn’t say much and just agreed casually.
Luo Ziling and Huang Chen went downstairs together, and while descending the stairs, Huang Chen also asked Luo Ziling about his mother’s current condition.
Luo Ziling smiled and said, “I can’t guarantee anything right now, but I can say that today’s treatment went well. If we can build on that, there might even be a miracle. Anyway, I did my best!”
Huang Chen thanked him this time.
He left before Luo Ziling, as he worried there might be issues to attend to with the old man.
However, Luo Ziling didn’t leave immediately but called over Yang Xiaodong and asked him to withdraw some money in the name of the Ling Family to give to Huang Chen’s mother as a consolation fund.
“Okay,” Yang Xiaodong immediately agreed and patted Luo Ziling heavily on the shoulder. “A true healer has a parent’s heart. Comrade young master, I truly respect you.”
Luo Ziling was surprised by Yang Xiaodong’s reaction and was momentarily taken aback.
He suddenly felt that helping others and doing good deeds could sometimes be a source of joy.
Because it earned him respect from others.
