Chapter 1146 - Chapter 1146 Chapter 1146 Seeing Lin Lan Again
Chapter 1146: Chapter 1146: Seeing Lin Lan Again Chapter 1146: Chapter 1146: Seeing Lin Lan Again The car stopped, and Luo Xusheng was the first to get out, followed by Luo Ziling.
After Yang Xiaodong got out of the car, he quickly walked to Luo Xusheng’s side.
After mutually rendering military salutes, Phoenix extended her hand to Luo Xusheng, “Comrade Snow Leopard, welcome to Dragon Rise!”
“I’m very happy to see you again,” Luo Xusheng shook hands very politely with Phoenix, and then with Lin Lan and Falcon.
While shaking hands with Lin Lan, he took an especially good look at her, which made Lin Lan feel a bit embarrassed.
Luo Ziling couldn’t help but laugh to himself upon realizing his dad’s nickname was “Snow Leopard.”
People in the special forces all liked to use the names of wild animals or other creatures to name themselves.
Did this mean they had a beastly nature deep down?
Yang Xiaodong also shook hands with Phoenix, Lin Lan, and Falcon.
Luo Ziling had avoided them when they paid military salutes to each other.
He wasn’t really a soldier now; he was just an extramural member of Dragon Rise, without military status, and not qualified to salute.
Only after they had saluted and shaken hands did he approach.
“He forced me to bring him along to meet your leader,” Luo Ziling, fearing that Phoenix and Lin Lan would blame him, explained in front of everyone and then asked, “Can we meet your leader now?”
“Please,” Phoenix gestured, her legs clad in tall boots coming together, before she turned left in a standard military pivot, striding toward the small building where Li Haiyang resided. Lin Lan and Falcon immediately followed.
Luo Xusheng also followed suit, and this time Yang Xiaodong didn’t hide in the car like before but boldly followed behind Luo Xusheng.
Today, he was Luo Xusheng’s assistant, not Luo Ziling’s attendant. The identity was different, and so was the aura.
Luo Ziling wanted to keep up with Lin Lan, but she didn’t pay him any attention and just followed behind Phoenix, striding forward.
He felt a bit sulky but he knew it was just Lin Lan’s way, it had always been.
The only change was in his own mind, nothing else–initially, he thought Lin Lan would have a special reaction upon seeing him.
When the group of six approached the small building where Li Haiyang lived, Phoenix slowed down her pace, which had lost the forcefulness it had at the beginning. Lin Lan and Falcon did the same.
Only Luo Xusheng’s footsteps remained as heavy as before, carrying a challenging tone.
Upon reaching the door to Li Haiyang’s bedroom, Phoenix signaled for the others to wait outside while she went in to announce their arrival.
Without waiting for a response, Phoenix gently knocked on the door.
“Come in,” came Li Haiyang’s robust voice from inside.
Phoenix entered, closing the door behind her.
Soon, she came out and signaled for Luo Xusheng and Luo Ziling to go in.
Luo Xusheng nodded and walked over with solid steps, followed by Luo Ziling and Phoenix.
Entering the room, Luo Ziling saw Li Haiyang leaning against the wall, taking unsteady steps. He didn’t stop when they came in.
“Snow Leopard, take a seat,” Li Haiyang briefly greeted Luo Xusheng before immediately addressing Luo Ziling, “Ziling, look, haven’t I made great progress?”
“Elder, you’re much steadier than a few days ago,” Luo Ziling said with a smile, walking over to stand beside Li Haiyang. “With the weather warming up, you should recover even faster.”
“Let’s hope your words bring luck,” Li Haiyang laughed heartily once more, then self-deprecatingly said to Luo Xusheng, “Ah, the feeling of a tiger that has fallen onto flat ground. I used to want to compete with you and your father, but now, just to live a normal life seems like a luxury.”
“You’ll definitely recover, sir,” Luo Xusheng said matter-of-factly, then instructed Luo Ziling, “You must use your utmost ability to treat the leader, understand?”
Luo Ziling felt a bit resentful upon hearing this.
It was as if Luo Xusheng was implying he hadn’t been trying his hardest to treat Li Haiyang.
But knowing it was just Luo Xusheng’s polite way of speaking, he ended up not expressing any objections and nodded obediently.
“You’re quite well-informed, I’ve just returned to the base and you’re already here,” Li Haiyang slowly walked back to his seat. He didn’t want Luo Ziling to help him and after taking at least two minutes to get back to his seat, he sat down with his piercing eyes fixed on Luo Xusheng, “I knew you would come to see me.”
“Thank you, sir, for your care for Ziling during this time,” Luo Xusheng sincerely expressed his gratitude.
“I should be thanking him instead; he gave me a second chance at life,” Li Haiyang laughed cheerfully. “Your son’s medical skills must have surpassed yours, right? I think, in many ways, he exceeds even your father. This young man is quite outstanding.”
“Thank you for the praise, Elder!” Luo Ziling was elated at the compliment, but it earned him a disapproving glare from Luo Xusheng.
Yet, Luo Xusheng continued to speak modestly and managed to belittle Luo Ziling a few sentences, “My father doted on him and couldn’t bear to scold him; he’s been a bit wild over the years, often causing headaches. Fortunately, there are people like you who care about him to help; otherwise, who knows how things would be.”
“In my opinion, he’s more outstanding than you were at his age, and he acts more decisively than you did,” Li Haiyang seemed to prefer Luo Ziling over his father and appreciated Luo Ziling as well, thus not sparing his praise.
Thus, Luo Xusheng no longer feigned modesty and looked at Luo Ziling with a bit more admiration.
After a while of small talk, Li Haiyang asked Luo Ziling to go and have a word with Phoenix and Lin Lan, as he and Luo Xusheng had some matters to discuss.
“Then you two chat; I’ll take a look around and come back later to check on the Elder, to see how to proceed with the treatment,” Luo Ziling said, and after saluting Li Haiyang and Luo Xusheng, he strode out of the room.
Exiting Li Haiyang’s room, he found that Phoenix and Falcon were nowhere to be seen; only Lin Lan was standing guard at the door.
