Chapter 1081: Chapter 1081: Different Treatment Chapter 1081: Chapter 1081: Different Treatment “I didn’t expect to encounter you here, kid,” Yang Yuanshan approached Luo Ziling to talk at the end of the tea meeting, and as soon as he saw him, he showed a hostile demeanor, “It seems that your performance wasn’t too bad, earning Old Mr. Ling’s reevaluation.”
“Thank you for your concern, Elder Yang,” Luo Ziling replied neither humbly nor arrogantly, “Though the Old Gentlemen’s health has recovered, we still fear accidents, so I, as his treating physician, must stay close by, especially with the cold weather outside. Elder Yang is a respected leader; I trust you won’t make things difficult for a junior like me today. If I’ve offended you previously, please be magnanimous.”
Luo Ziling didn’t want to cause any trouble, thus when Yang Yuanshan came over to speak with him, even showing unfriendliness, he preemptively spoke bluntly.
“Hmph!” Yang Yuanshan huffed angrily, still upset about Luo Ziling’s arrogance during his last visit to the Yang Family Old House, thereby wanting to severely dent Luo Ziling’s pride.
But upon seeing Ling Mingrui walking over, he ultimately abandoned the idea, only warning Luo Ziling sternly, “Stay away from my granddaughter. As long as I’m alive, I won’t allow her to be with you. Unless I’m dead, there will be no discussion.”
“Elder Yang seems to be a bit biased,” Luo Ziling could not help but retort as he saw Yang Yuanshan drop the comment and leave, “Even if you feel that way, there’s no need to say it. Speaking like this makes you seem small-minded.”
Although no one else was around to hear, Yang Yuanshan was still furious. He didn’t stop to say anything but turned his head to glare angrily at Luo Ziling before storming off.
Seeing Yang Yuanshan leave, Ling Mingrui, who had intended to come over, stopped in his tracks and went to talk to other attendees of the meeting.
Just as Luo Ziling breathed a sigh of relief, Chen Ruchang approached him.
Luo Ziling took the initiative to greet him and, without waiting for Chen Ruchang to say anything, he spoke upfront about the dispute he had had with Chen Jiahai.
Chen Ruchang was surprised that Luo Ziling would take the initiative to bring it up before he could, and after listening to him, he looked meaningfully at Luo Ziling for a few moments. Ultimately, he didn’t question further but left a suggestive remark, “No wonder!”
He didn’t clarify what he meant by “no wonder,” merely smiled at Luo Ziling and walked away.
Luo Ziling pondered and guessed that Chen Ruchang meant “no wonder Chen Jiahai keeps losing out.”
With that thought, Luo Ziling couldn’t help feeling a little smug.
With Yang Yuanshan and Chen Ruchang both coming over to speak to him alone, Luo Ziling once again succeeded in drawing the attention of other people at the event.
Then Fang Xiang came over, patted him affectionately on the shoulder, and said with a smile, “Ziling, my fine nephew, you did well. Dongxun is no match for you.”
“Sir Fang flatters me,” Luo Ziling quickly demurred, “I grew up in the countryside and can be a bit wild, often acting without considering consequences, so I hope for your guidance, Sir Fang.”
“You have your grandfather and your great grandfather to guide you; what need have you for this simple man, haha,” Fang Xiang patted Luo Ziling’s shoulder again and lowered his voice, “Come over sometime with Dongxun for tea.”
After Fang Xiang left, following his last remark, Luo Ziling was momentarily stunned, then delighted.
However, it wasn’t until a little later that Luo Ziling realized these big shots coming over to talk to him signified the end of the tea meeting.
He hurried over to accompany Ling Jinhua.
The tea meeting lasted about two hours, thankfully Ling Jinhua held up, without too many noticeable signs of strain.
“Let’s go back,” Ling Jinhua instructed Luo Ziling in a calm voice as he approached.
Luo Ziling agreed, and promptly stepped forward to support Ling Jinhua.
Huang Chen, who was at their side, also immediately came forward to help hold Ling Jinhua’s other arm.
Surrounded by a group of tycoons, Ling Jinhua’s car was the first to leave the venue of the tea party.
When Ling Jinhua left, Ling Mingrui did not leave with him.
On the way, Luo Ziling wanted to ask Ling Jinhua about something but did not know how to phrase his question. Seeing that Ling Jinhua seemed a bit tired, he ended up not asking anything.
The fact that Luo Ziling did not ask him about anything seemed to surprise Ling Jinhua, but he did not volunteer any information either.
It was not until the motorcade entered the Old Mansion and stopped that Ling Jinhua finally instructed Luo Ziling, “Come inside the house and sit with me for a while!”
Naturally, Luo Ziling did not dare to refuse. He helped Ling Jinhua enter the courtyard.
As he entered Ling Jinhua’s residence and helped him lie down, Luo Ziling moved a chair over and sat in front of Ling Jinhua’s bed, ready to listen to Old Mr. Ling’s commands.
“You performed very well today,” praised Ling Jinhua, then added, “Even I didn’t expect that in such a situation, you would remain so composed and calm.”
Luo Ziling responded insincerely, “I have no requests, nor do I have any disputes with them, so I didn’t feel nervous or afraid.”
“If there were no disputes, Old Sir Yang and Old Chen wouldn’t have sought you out to speak privately,” Ling Jinhua said with amusement: “But that’s alright, the gist of it is clear to everyone. Now that you’ve made an appearance, people will give you face in the future. At the very least, the petty stuff will definitely lessen.”
“Thank you, Great Grandfather!” Luo Ziling quickly expressed his gratitude.
Regardless of whether Ling Jinhua’s words were his true sentiment, he needed to show appreciation, at least outwardly.
“Alright, you can go. I am tired and would like to rest for a while,” Ling Jinhua did not intend to speak much with Luo Ziling and waved him off, “I believe your mother is definitely paying attention to this matter. Go and speak with her, ease her worries!”
Without much else to say, Luo Ziling politely bid farewell and then left the Ling Family Old Mansion.
After leaving the Ling Family Old Mansion, he headed straight to the Northern Group headquarters.
Today’s mission had ended earlier than expected; by the time Luo Ziling left the Ling Family Old Mansion, it was only two o’clock in the afternoon.
At this time, Ling Ruonan would surely still be at work, so Luo Ziling went directly to the Northern Group headquarters to find her.
Since his last public appearance and attendance at Northern Group’s senior management meeting, Luo Ziling had become a star figure at the Northern Group headquarters.
The receptionists blushed and greeted him excitedly as they saw the very handsome Luo Ziling walk in.
Luo Ziling responded to the greeting politely, before confidently walking into the dedicated elevator, entering his access code, and arriving at the floor where Ling Ruonan was.
Ling Ruonan was naturally surprised to see Luo Ziling taking the initiative to come to the Northern Group headquarters to find her.
But after listening to Luo Ziling’s account of the day’s events, she was taken aback.
“I can’t believe that things turned out this way,” Ling Ruonan’s eyes widened as she looked at Luo Ziling, “You were actually the focus of so many people.”
Luo Ziling nodded seriously, indicating he wasn’t lying.
After some thought, Ling Ruonan said, “There’s more to today’s events than meets the eye. Tell me the whole process of the tea party, and let’s analyze the reasons behind the actions of the Old Mr. Ling and my father.”
