Chapter 457 - 457 The bureau is too helpful
457: The bureau is too helpful.
457: The bureau is too helpful.
After spending three hours at kids wonderland, everyone figured that they had had enough fun and taken enough pictures so, they decided to leave.
Alix returned to the school because she had one class of the day, the private violin lessons for the star students of Songbird.
First, she passed by her office to drop off her bag.
Jenny followed her with a folder that was filled with documents and Alix groaned.
There was nothing she hated more than paperwork.
“These are from the manager of the mall boss.
There is a long list of items which have been sold out and need restocking.” “Restocking, these things are not easily acquired.” she muttered.
There was no guarantee that the same products could even be restocked because half of them were gifts from her fans and all these people were on different worlds.
“Blue smurf, help.” “Host, i am already scanning the document to see what can and what cannot be restocked.
I will include these objects on your wish list and your fans can send you things from that list.” Alix was satisfied with that response and she put the document aside.
“Is there anything else?” she asked the nervous looking assistant.
Jenny pursed her lips and crossed her hands behind her back.
“Director, are you displeased with my work?” “No.” Jenny turned her head back and peeked outside the office.
With that nervous look still prominent, she looked at Alix again.
That’s when Alix noticed her assistant’s reddish eyes.
Had the woman been crying and why?
‘What is bothering you Jenny?” she leaned against her desk and gave the woman all of her focus.
“I hope my question doesn’t offend you director but if you are not dissatisfied with my work then why are you hiring another personal secretary?
Alix frowned as this was the first she was hearing of this.
She had not hired any other personal assistant.
Her quick thinking raced to Caishen and she wondered if maybe he had done something else without her request.
Jenny pointed out of the door and complained in an aggrieved voice, “That woman, she just showed up in my office with her own furniture and made herself at home.
She has paperwork and credentials which show her as a school employee and your personal assistant.
She told me that she is more valuable to you than me and if you had to choose between us, you would choose her.” The frown lines on Alix’s face deepened as the explanation made even less sense.
She decided to go out and see for herself who this woman was.
Just as Jenny had said, there was now an extra desk, computer, chair and other things in the office.
Jenny’s table had been moved to one corner and the stranger Alix had never seen was sitting at a desk in the other corner.
She approached slowly and stared at the middle aged woman who was furiously typing into a keyboard with incredible speed.
Her fingers were practically flying as she worked.
Even though it was impressive, she needed an answer as to why the stranger was there.
“I think the answer is obvious.” her system contributed.
Alix agreed with the blue smurf.
Indeed, the answer became more and more clear as she observed the woman.
She had to be a bureau agent.
Mantis had told her that all system hosts who worked for the bureau had assistants, usually humans whose bodies were somehow enhanced.
“Who are you?” The woman raised her head and looked at Alix.
She stopped typing, stood up and bowed respectfully.
“I am Wu Xiaocai, your new personal assistant.” Behind Alix, Jenny’s heart itched when she heard that introduction.
She wanted to open her mouth and yell at the top of her lungs, i am her personal assistant.
How dare you weasel your way in here to steal my job?
We don’t need you because i alone am enough.
Wu Xiaocai handed Alix documents.
“For your eyes only.” Alix read the first few lines and indeed her guess was correct.
The woman was a bureau assigned assistant.
“I haven’t even signed the contract yet.” She muttered.
The bureau was like a stalker, involving itself in every aspect of her life.
Whether it was to protect her or simply spy on her, she couldn’t guess which.
“Probably both.” The system elf suggested.
“I didn’t request for you.” Alix told her.
“It’s a package deal director, i am just here to make your life easy in any way possible.” Alix flipped over to another page and looked at Wu Xiaocai’s qualifications.
The woman was an expert in different styles of fighting.
She had served in the military but retired five years ago and she had two degrees, one in business management and another in human resources.
Both degrees were from one of the best universities in the country and she had passed with flying colors, obtaining first class degrees.
She had worked in the ministry of water resources and city hall.
“Kya!
you should be working for a fortune five hundred company or something.” Alix didn’t know how true these qualifications or employment history was but they were impressive.
“I take it that my qualifications satisfy you director.” “They are something.” Alix responded.
When she flipped to another page, her eyes saw a document from court dismissing Lin Qianfan’s case for the custody of Yuewei entirely.
According to the document, he was deemed unfit to raise any children due to the hostile environment at home and proven history of abuse of a minor.
Alix laughed softly, just a little.
The bureau moved really quickly when it was a matter concerning system hosts.
With their usefulness proven, she couldn’t simply dismiss the assistant they sent her.
There were things she could help with that Jenny couldn’t.
“Welcome to team Alix, i will take you in on a temporary basis first.
We should both first see if we are a good fit.
Make sure that your duties do not interfere with Jenny’s duties.” Alix told her.
“Yes director.” “And don’t disrespect her because i hired her personally.” “Yes director.” When Alix turned around to face Jenny, she could still see the disturbed look on her face but there was a hint of some satisfaction in her eyes.
She was like a child that had been beaten and run out to search for her mother to come and seek justice for her.
Indeed, by warning Xiaocai not to disrespect Jenny, some justice had been delivered.
“She is staying Jenny, my parents sent her because they thought we would be overwhelmed with work considering the fact that the mall and the school both need a lot of attention.
Both of you are my personal assistants, so try to get along.” Majesty jumped onto her shoulder as soon as she stepped out of that office.
Meowing loudly, the cat voiced a complaint immediately.
“You went out and had fun without me, why?” Like a kidnapper with a hostage, it put a claw at her neck demanding for answers.
