424: First win.

424: First win.

As expected, Alix was declared the winner of the violin competition.

Amidst very loud cheering from her family, especially her overly excited grandfather, she received the very first award of her life.

Just as she similarly expected, the young genius Rui came in second place and Wangshu came third.

The joyous noise tripled the moment they stepped out of the concert hall.

Alix was pulled from one direction to another and embraced tightly.

Tai Ho Sun even twirled her around as she screamed at the top of her voice.

Her violin shaped trophy was also passed around, and her brothers took pictures with it.

“Let’s all go home for the big party.” grandpa Tai reminded them all.

Not only was it a celebration of Alix’s victory but it was also the day of the big party introducing her to the world as Tai Alix.

The Tai elders had prepared it this way because they wanted her to celebrate the day, whether she came first or second.

“Sister, whatever you want, the bill is on me today.” Tai Haoyu shouted.

“I think you mean the bill is on grandpa.” Tai Dalian shouted back.

“Who cares, little sister, just tell us if there is anything in the world you want and we brothers will do our best to buy it for you.” Tai Change said.

Jin Kang rolled her eyes and she shouted, “She wants the moon.” Tai Wong, the youngest of the Tai brothers looked at his father Tai Bo with an impish look similar to Tai Jiaan’s.

“Father, big sis wants the moon and I want the sun.” Tai Fong rubbed his hands and then he said, “If we are making orders for celestial products, put me down for a star.”  The Tai’s were loud and funny, talking over one another as they made their way to their individual or shared cars.

Even though they were all joking abut the sun, moon and stars, they meant it when they told Alix to ask for anything she wanted.

Alix was still standing by her car with Caishen at her side.

She was watching her family leave while Caishen was watching her.

He couldn’t get over how beautiful she looked in her long red dress with her hair flowing down her shoulders.

She had really shined up on that stage, when she was performing.

He had never seen an angel but if one was searching for one, he would happily point them in her direction.

He moved his hand to touch her hand but auntie Mo loudly said something while looking in their direction, startling him and his he retrieved his hand.

“Pretty baby, hurry up.” she said.

“Yes mother.” Alix responded back loudly.

She turned to the side completely and looked at her husband that was still looking at her.

“Are you happy?” She nodded.

She had just won her first award on her very first competition, something not many violinists could do.

The thought that Lin Billi was dying of anger because her plan had failed was also giving her immense satisfaction.

Besides, she had won her first award with her entire family there to support her.

This was not like the old days when nobody even showed up for her parent-teacher conferences.

Back then, it was Holea or Jin Kang’s parents that would do it for her out of pity.

She looked up and tried to magically send back the tears which were threatening to fall out of her eyes.

“Here.” Caishen said.

She looked down and the tears also fell naturally.

Caishen was handing her a tissue.

“I knew that would cry today Alix, you are my beautiful cry baby.” he said.

He got a small chocolate brownie from the car and also handed it to her as he took back the tissue which was partially wet after being used to wipe her eyes.

“Mmm, chocolate.” she muttered in a small voice.

She was about to unwrap it when she remembered auntie Mo shoving a candy into her mouth before her performance.

The memory caused her to giggle slowly.

It seemed like everyone was going out of their way to accommodate her.

Little things like carrying around candy for her to brighten her mood whenever necessary.

Even Tai Jiaan, the twins and Yuewei carried candy in their bags.

Thinking of this made her emotional and again, tears resurfaced.

This time round, she couldn’t help herself and she just started crying, letting out all the feelings that were choking her.

Caishen had not expected a strong emotional outburst.

“Aah, what should i do now?” He scratched his forehead and peeked into the car, looking at Biming who was sitting in the front passenger seat.

Biming shrugged and stared back at him.

Caishen got three more tissues and he tugged on Alix’s dress slowly.

He handed her the tissues with a concerned look on his face.

Not knowing what to do, he simply patted her upper back slowly and said, “There, there, my dear.” In a tear filled voice, Alix said, “I am just so touched.”  “Of course you are.” Caishen answered.

“Xiaobo gave me a basket of chocolates yesterday.” she cried out.

Caishen frowned and he tilted his head to the left.

How was yesterday’s basket of chocolates related to todays’ tears?

Just when he thought it couldn’t get any weirder, it did.

“I made two hundred ten million, four hundred thousand and eighty eight yuan in sales on my opening day.” Alix said and she bawled even more.

She was sharing good news and yet she was crying as if it was the opposite.

Caishen found himself laughing as he tried to comfort her.

“Congratulations, that is very impressive.

You will make back your entire investment within one month at that rate.”  Alix looked at Caishen and she blinked a few times.

The blinking didn’t stop the tears or the emotional rollercoaster she seemed to be on.

Between hiccups and soft sobs, she said, “I am now a billionaire.”  In the car, Biming covered his mouth and guffawed.

He wasn’t certain if he should feel sorry for Caishen or laugh at his plight.

Never before had he encountered a situation like this one.

Alix was not yet done sharing her great troubles.

“My mother loves me so much and i love her too and i am beginning to feel guilty because my real mother might think i don’t love her anymore.”  “That’s not true honey, i think your mother is happy to see you being loved.” Caishen told her.

Deeply emotional, she replied, “Grandpa made me a gold statue even though i told him i don’t want it.”  Caishen looked around them, wondering if anybody else could hear the wonderful problems in his wife’s life.

If they did, they would probably curse her loudly.

The things she was crying about were not really things people cried over.

Nobody cried because they were loved too much and had too much money.

He saw professor He walking towards them and a part of him sighed in relief on the inside.

Finally, a professional had arrived and maybe she would make sense of what was happening because he couldn’t.

Professor He didn’t waste time greeting Caishen.

She pushed Alix into the car and then joined her inside.

“I had a feeling that you would need me today.” She told Alix.

“Let’s use this time to discuss how you feel about winning today.

Do you think you deserve it?”
