Chapter 99: Chapter 99: A Man Who Doesn’t Stand Up to Me Can’t Win My Wife’s Approval
"The door agreed to your request,"
A few seconds later, the sea girl opened her eyes and reached her hand into the crucible in the middle of the table.
Then, she fished out a black scripture and handed it to Liu Zheng.
It was only when he took it in his hands that he realized, this scripture was just a shell.
"Name: Dark Bible (disposable)"
"Type: Item"
"Quality: Excellent"
"Effect: Immune to all damage, control, and negative effects for one second, during which no actions can be taken"
"Note: In the absence of gods, the protection of demons is also so precious. Just like without 1080P, 720P is also a treasure"
"Can it be taken out of the instance: No"
Liu Zheng was quite satisfied with this prize.
It was a bit short, but could be very useful in critical moments.
"You’re about to get off work, right? Want to try that goblin cuisine today?"
Player Number 7 said to the sea girl.
"Sure. Wait for me for a moment, I’ll go tell the front desk,"
said the sea girl.
"Hold on!"
Liu Zheng suddenly shouted.
"Is there something else?"
the sea girl asked, turning her head.
"Actually, I still want to play some games with you,"
he said, smiling as he looked at his phone.
"You want to pick her up, don’t you?"
Player Number 7 bluntly said.
"Hey, can’t you speak more subtly?"
Liu Zheng complained.
Don’t you know what’s called the beauty of ambiguity?
Each one of you turns so direct when it’s about this kind of stuff, yet you speak in riddles about other information.
"So do you want to pick me up or not?"
the sea girl asked with a smile.
"Yes,"
he honestly replied.
"To pick me up, you’ll have to get past him first,"
the sea girl pointed at Player Number 7.
"You planning to compete in family background, work, or talent?"
Player Number 7 said leisurely.
He didn’t take Liu Zheng seriously at all.
Just a somewhat clever delivery boy, nothing more.
What everyone fears is the Bloody Restaurant, not some employee of the restaurant.
These high-class citizens know, only people who are at the end of their rope go to the restaurant to apply for a job.
"Is it that much?"
Liu Zheng scratched his head.
"It’s too troublesome, can I just kill you directly?"
he asked cautiously.
"Pfft!"
The sea girl accidentally laughed aloud.
"You’re brave, human,"
Player Number 7 said, staring at Liu Zheng with a sinister tone.
"But I like it,"
then he quickly changed the tone of his speech.
"Huh?"
Liu Zheng watched him warily.
This guy isn’t a double-ended plug, is he?
"What do you want to play? Human,"
Player Number 7 asked with interest.
"I want to play with the sea girl,"
he shook his head as he said.
"You can’t even beat me, and you want to play with the sea girl?"
Player Number 7 scoffed.
"To play with me, you first have to get past him,"
the sea girl added in.
"..."
What’s wrong with you weird residents?
Getting NTR’d to the face and still have to check if the bull-man’s stuff is okay, huh?
Without defeating me first, my wife won’t recognize you.
"Fine,"
Although Liu Zheng had a thousand complaints in his heart, he finally just said one word.
He feared that if the discussion continued, his remaining human values would collapse.
"What do you want to play? Werewolf, murder mystery, poker cards, any board game, just pick one,"
Player Number 7 confidently said.
"Can’t we not play board games?"
Liu Zheng asked.
The timing would barely suffice, but somehow he felt his luck would be very bad if they continued playing board games.
"Sure,"
Player Number 7 was quite easygoing.
"Racing, horse racing, fighting, flower arranging, cooking—you can compete in anything you can think of," he said.
Wow, talk about a jack-of-all-trades.
This kind of son-in-law, even if he rode on a will-o-the-wisp, wouldn’t be considered "blond," he’d be "gold."
If that fisherman looks down on him, then Liu Zheng can’t imagine what he would approve of.
But as the saying goes, a trustworther person does a trustworthy job, Liu Zheng still had to find a way to successfully "steal" him.
Liu Zheng definitely had to rule out the activities player number 7 mentioned.
But even among those not mentioned, Liu Zheng guessed it would be tough.
After all, this wasn’t the real world, and though this guy sounded young, there was a chance he was some old monster who had lived for hundreds of years.
Or maybe he was one of those monsters who, upon seeing a little bit, would "I already completely understand.jpg".
"Then let’s compete in delivery," he blurted out.
An idea struck him.
"Now you’ve really stumped me, I can’t compete in that game," said player number 7, shaking his head.
"Did you not just say you could compete in anything?" Liu Zheng retorted.
"So I misspoke, so what?" player number 7 said defiantly.
"Tsk," muttered Liu Zheng, forgetting that not everyone in this world was like the French Plane Tree who couldn’t lie.
"The Bloody Restaurant isn’t exactly a nice place, and since you’re a citizen, you better leave earlier if you want to live longer," player number 7 advised in return.
"If I leave the Bloody Restaurant, I’ll die even faster," Liu Zheng responded.
Unlike these natives, he didn’t have a nest; he was still worrying about where he would go after he used up his sick leave.
"If you’re willing, you could work at my board game store," said player number 7.
"So you’re the boss here," Liu Zheng said, surprised.
Another point for Team Blond.
"Not really. I couldn’t afford to open a big place like ’Red Witch,’ so I planned to start a small board game bar," player number 7 clarified.
"So you came here to copy," Liu Zheng said disdainfully.
Isn’t that witch statue going to strike him? The trigger points are so strange.
"Don’t use such an ugly word as ’copy.’ I’m not planning to do the same model as ’Red Witch.’ I plan to engage in differentiated competition," player number 7 defended.
"Differentiated competition? What’s that?" Liu Zheng asked.
"Ever heard of ’Regicide Chess’?" player number 7 asked.
"No," Liu Zheng replied.
"I guessed you hadn’t. It’s a newly released board game, and less than ten people in the city know how to play it. I needed to pull some big strings to get it," said player number 7, slightly prideful.
"Are you stupid? If so few people know how to play, how will you make money?" Liu Zheng, considering him a competitor, wasn’t very polite.
"Don’t worry, the rules are not that complicated, and it’s very addictive. Anyone who plays it once falls in love with it," player number 7 explained.
"If it’s such a powerful game, why doesn’t the ’Red Witch’ board game hall stock it?" Liu Zheng challenged.
"Because they’re afraid the City Hall might cause trouble, and I just happen to have the right contacts," player number 7 explained.
"Are you serious, all this over a board game?"
"It would be overboard for any other game, but this one leaked out of the Chaos Club," said player number 7 with a secretive smile.
"Damn," Liu Zheng cursed.
Why does that cursed place turn up everywhere?
If it came from Chaos Club, then its addictive nature isn’t surprising.
After all, the wine contaminated by it can make one feel euphoric.
"You’ve heard of Chaos Club?" player number 7 said, surprised this time.
"Bits and pieces," Liu Zheng answered.
He knew more than just a bit—his system space even contained its membership card.
"Well, that makes sense, since you are the Bloody Restaurant’s delivery guy."
"So, how about it? Come work with me. The benefits might not be as good as at the Bloody Restaurant, but the salary is definitely higher. Plus, the sea girl might come by too," player number 7 tried to tempt him.
"No need, I’m doing quite well at the restaurant," Liu Zheng declined.
He didn’t trust this kid had good intentions.
He was either coveting his body or his mind.
As those who frequently enjoy programmer jokes know, if a BUG can run, you don’t touch it.
Although the Bloody Restaurant is fraught with peril, at least he had a rough understanding of the rules and was familiar with the people there.
Switching places might be an opportunity, but more likely it would be a disaster.
Moreover, many of Liu Zheng’s upcoming plans depended on his being a restaurant employee.
"Alright then. What will you compete in? If you don’t tell me soon, I’m going to take the sea girl and leave," player number 7 said.
"Then let’s..."
When Liu Zheng heard the name of the sea girl, a spark flashed in his mind.
"Let’s go fishing!"
