Chapter 54: Chapter 54 Ghost Hand and Skeleton

"Boss, is there anything particular I should pay attention to when delivering to the office building?"

Liu Zheng asked.

"Office buildings, they’re a bit of a hassle."

Niu Ma frowned upon hearing this.

"They rarely order takeout, but when they do, they’re always a pain. One moment they’re asking you to take out the trash, the next they’re having you move water."

"I should handle this one. They’ll only give you rookies an even harder time."

"Is there a way to deal with them?"

Liu Zheng inquired.

"First, don’t even think about getting tough with them. The security at office buildings isn’t the same as residential security, and even I have to exert some effort when taking them on."

"Second, you could try to cozy up to their manager or someone like that. Once you’ve got the leader on your side, the rest of the employees are much easier to handle,"

Niu Ma replied.

"And what if the person ordering is the manager?"

"Then you look for the general manager, there’s always someone higher up."

Niu Ma said nonchalantly.

"Boss, as delivery guys, isn’t it kind of beneath us to suck up to their general manager?"

Liu Zheng said diplomatically.

"Mind your position, you’re a delivery guy from the Bloody Restaurant."

Niu Ma said sternly.

"Remember, the restaurant will never give you an order you can’t deliver. You either use your strength, your luck, or your brain, there’s always a way."

"Of course, if you have none of those, then just head to the kitchen and report in."

Heading to the kitchen to report in means becoming an ingredient.

"Alright. Anything else?"

Liu Zheng asked.

"Yeah, bring me back a cup of Unlucky Coffee."

Niu Ma pulled out a banknote and two coins to give him.

"Keep the change as a tip."

He said ostentatiously.

"Haha, very generous."

With those two coins, there wouldn’t be much of a tip left.

"Doesn’t the restaurant have coffee?"

Liu Zheng wondered.

"The coffee at the restaurant is for fleecing idiots, overpriced and unpalatable."

Niu Ma waved a hoof dismissively.

"Unlucky Coffee doesn’t sound like it’d taste any better, does it?"

"What do you know. This coffee’s all the rage now, only sold in office buildings, and hard to come by."

Niu Ma paused, then added,

"If you have the money, buy extra and I’ll take it to share with the kitchen."

"Sure,"

Liu Zheng nodded.

He understood Niu Ma’s intention.

It was about to go on vacation and when the time comes, Liu Zheng himself would have to deal with the kitchen, so it was essential to build good relationships.

"Get lost, I’m going back to sleep in my nest."

After saying this, Niu Ma lay back down in its lair.

From the looks of it, it probably wouldn’t get up until lunch was delivered.

Liu Zheng smiled and picked up the takeout box, leaving the breakroom.

On the food cart was a lunchbox, and lying next to it was something else.

A drunk Ghost Hand.

It staggered to its feet upon seeing Liu Zheng emerge, then vomited a heap of semi-solid material mixed with shards of glass.

"Uh..."

Liu Zheng covered his nose.

The smell was almost as bad as the fart he had let out earlier.

Fortunately, it hadn’t landed on the lunchbox.

After vomiting, Ghost Hand seemed a bit more sober and waved at Liu Zheng, then jumped off the cart and crawled towards the delivery passage.

Was this its way of telling him to follow?

Since he was on his way to deliver orders anyway, it was on his way.

But before leaving, Liu Zheng didn’t forget to place the ordering box into the Legendary Takeout Box.

There was no reaction from the takeout box, indicating that the order matched the listed items.

So Liu Zheng followed Ghost Hand into the delivery passage.

The corridor was still pitch black, invisible even to his vision enhanced by the Legendary Armor.

But because he was used to it, he didn’t panic.

After walking about ten or so meters, Liu felt a push on his shoulder and his body involuntarily turned a different direction.

Then, Ghost Hand tugged on the hem of his pants, signaling for him to keep moving forward.

The passage wasn’t straight?

Liu Zheng was somewhat surprised.

Before, he had been groping his way forward, and both sides had clearly been walls.

However, considering the abnormal nature of this world, such things were actually quite normal.

After hesitating for two seconds, Liu Zheng still decided to follow Ghost Hand.

Now, with the enhancement from the Legendary Armor, he had the strength to fight in most situations.

If all else failed, he could always release his dog.

Liu Zheng tentatively took a few steps forward, unobstructed, as if there was supposed to be a fork in the path all along.

So he continued onward, until Ghost Hand stopped him.

It made Liu Zheng crouch down, and then it reached forward with its tentacle-like touch.

A cold, hard, smooth sensation was transmitted, and after groping around for a while, Liu Zheng was sure.

This was a skeleton.

From its shape, it seemed to be a human skeleton.

As for whether it was male or female, he did not have the expertise to determine.

Why was there a skeleton in the secret passage of the takeout channel?

Whose skeleton was it? And why had Ghost Hand brought him to find it?

A series of questions flooded Liu Zheng’s mind.

Just as he was pondering, Ghost Hand pushed him in another direction, then lifted its tentacle.

Was it asking him to carry the skeleton on his back?

Liu Zheng tentatively hoisted the skeleton, its weight far exceeding his expectations, at least 300 to 400 pounds.

Furthermore, it seemed like some force was holding the bones together, preventing them from falling apart.

Indeed, he guessed right.

As soon as Liu Zheng lifted the skeleton, Ghost Hand pulled him up and then pushed him forward.

When they arrived at the exit of the passage, facing the absolute boundary between light and darkness, Ghost Hand stopped.

It lingered on Liu Zheng’s shoulder for a long time.

It was somewhat funny to say, but he felt like he could hear its breathing.

A hand that breathes?

But thinking back to how it grew a mouth earlier and ate the wine bottle, it wasn’t completely out of the realm of possibility.

A mouth breathes too, after all.

He just didn’t know if Ghost Hand snored when it slept.

Finally, Ghost Hand hopped off his shoulder and returned to the darkness.

Liu Zheng squinted his eyes and, carrying the skeleton, stepped toward the light.

As soon as he left the passage, he set the skeleton down.

Compared to its weight, the skeleton was actually quite small, the person probably only about 1.7 meters tall when alive.

There were no marks on the bones, but it lacked a right hand, which had a very smooth break, as if naturally malformed.

Oddly enough, Liu Zheng thought of Ghost Hand.

Was it a left or a right hand?

No item introduction appeared, so he couldn’t rely on the system to learn the history of this skeleton.

Ghost Hand had not told Liu Zheng what to do with it either.

But, he had some guesses.

As for the skeleton, seeing that it didn’t seem to have any intention of coming back to life, it should naturally be laid to rest in the earth.

Then the question arose, which soil was best for burying people?

Liu Zheng carried the skeleton and sprinted all the way to the street with the French Plane Tree.

This time it didn’t play any tricks; it just stayed put, not even showing its face, just like a real tree.

"Good morning, Mr. Tree!"

Liu Zheng greeted energetically.

"Aaaaahhhhh!"

The face of the French Plane Tree surfaced, letting out a shrill scream.

"Losing your mind this early in the morning?"

He said, covering his ears.

"Are you freaking sick or something? I’ve been fishing all day!"

The French Plane Tree cursed loudly.

"Fish? Where are the fish coming from?"

Liu Zheng felt that the tree was the one that was crazy, and seriously so.

"Who told you fish are only found in water? The fish in the soil are the real delicacy. I played fool for my idiotic brethren all day long to lure a group of earth carp here. Your shout has scared them all away."

The French Plane Tree glared at him with a man-eating gaze.

"Ahaha, what a great day today,"

Liu Zheng looked up at the sky.

"You better have some good thing or good news; otherwise, although I can’t kill you, I can still make you suffer,"

The French Plane Tree threatened fiercely.

"No good news, but I’ve brought you something nice to drink."

Liu Zheng set down the skeleton, ready to take out the beverage he had prepared.

Suddenly, he saw the face of the French Plane Tree change dramatically.

"It’s... like... a pear!"
