Chapter 523: Chapter 407: What Kind of Life Can You Live on a Salary of a Few Thousand Yuan?_2
Too busy showing off, he totally forgot to get the keys from the guard.
But, no big deal.
He raised the Slaughter Knife and slashed at the paper door, immediately creating a cut.
Through the gap, he could see the light inside and a woman sitting with her back to the light.
"Hey, is that you, Seiko?"
Liu Zheng called out.
The woman turned her head as if she just heard something, revealing a face that strongly resembled Jinzi’s.
"Are you sent by my family to rescue me?"
Seeing Liu Zheng, she showed a look of surprise and delight.
"Yes, Jinzi is a friend of mine, she entrusted me to come rescue you."
Liu Zheng nodded.
"How did my aunt describe me?"
Seiko asked.
"She said you have the most hope in the family to return to your ancestral roots."
"Exactly, thank you so much for the rescue. I’ll follow you now."
Seiko immediately crawled to the ground and made her way toward the door on her hands.
"What about your legs?"
Liu Zheng asked, looking at her empty lower half.
"They were cut off while helping my boyfriend escape."
Seiko said nonchalantly.
"Then do you know he’s already been eaten?"
"Really? That’s for the best."
A moment of melancholy flashed in Seiko’s eyes, then returned to calmness.
"Why?"
"A dazzling love as beautiful as cherry blossoms is enough just once, best burned to ashes before it decays. If someone has to die for love to stay at its most beautiful, it’s naturally better if it’s the other person."
Seiko spoke indifferently.
"Great, Metropolis really does have a knack for producing crazy women. Hold on tight."
Liu Zheng reached out his hoof to her, hoisting her onto his back.
"You’d better hurry up, Granny Tang comes to check on me every day, but the timing isn’t fixed."
Seiko wrapped her arms tightly around his neck and loudly reminded him.
At the same time, she caught a glimpse of the package tied around his neck.
Judging by its shape, it definitely contained a humanoid creature.
She was curious about who was inside, but tactfully didn’t ask.
"No worries, if she comes, she’ll get to experience the warmth of city folks."
Liu Zheng said nonchalantly.
Now that he had rescued the person, he wasn’t afraid of anything anymore.
Even if Granny Tang was stronger than Shao Yan, she wouldn’t be that much stronger; otherwise, the Thirteenth Tile and the others wouldn’t dare to oppose her.
It took both a cosplay and Legendary Underwear to kill a god; he felt it was hardly a fair trade.
Feeling Liu Zheng’s domineering aura, Seiko felt more reassured.
She couldn’t help but wonder how much her family had spent to enlist such a powerful helper.
Hopefully when she gets home, she won’t find the whole clan begging on the streets, right?
That said, Liu Zheng’s speed did not slow down one bit. After a few clopping sounds of hooves, he was back at the elevator door.
"Seiko!"
Just as he was about to press the button, a deafening roar came from the direction of the cells, as furious as a raging lioness.
"We’ve really been discovered."
Liu Zheng turned his back to the elevator, ready to fight.
Soon, with the sound of howling wind, a fat, flabby hand came into view.
Each finger of the large hand wore a gemstone ring of varied types and sizes, with the smallest being as big as a quail’s egg.
"Be careful, that’s Granny Tang’s hand."
Since they’d been discovered, Seiko no longer held back from commenting.
"Not the real body, huh."
Liu Zheng was somewhat disappointed.
First, he shook his head, throwing both Seiko and Wan Zi into the open elevator, then he lowered his head, leaned forward, and assumed the posture of a bullfight.
The two horns lengthened again, twisting around each other to form a single spiraled horn.
"To hell with you!"
His hooves scraped the floor a few times, and then he thrust his head upward fiercely.
With a thunderous boom, his headbutt’s speed actually broke the sound barrier.
Qi Force spread out, wrapping around the horn, forming a spiraled horn made of gas that stretched several meters.
Sensing danger, Granny Tang’s hand made an emergency stop.
But how could Liu Zheng miss this opportunity, charging straight ahead.
Seeing no way to dodge, Granny Tang’s hand had to release a Spell.
The Jade ring on her ring finger shone brightly, turning into a green barrier in front of Granny Tang’s hand.
"Crack!"
A sound akin to shattering glass rang out as the green barrier and the pigeon-egg-sized Jade broke into pieces together.
And the spiral horn kept relentlessly stabbing towards Granny Tang’s palm.
"Impossible!"
Granny Tang cried out in shock.
Then, with a flash of light from the yellow gemstone ring on her pinky, Granny Tang’s hand vanished into thin air.
"Damn, resorting to instant teleportation when you can’t win, that’s really freaking shameless."
Liu Zheng cursed.
Cursing as he might, he had no solution. It was not as if he could chase after her and hack away; that would be utterly stupid.
Shaking his head, he turned and entered the elevator.
Liu Zheng pressed the button for the basement level, and the elevator began to descend with a jolt.
"I hope you would help my family reunite soon."
The weary voice of Samurai Yifa only reached his ears after the elevator doors opened again.
"Rest assured, I, Liu Zheng, never let my friends down."
He nodded in response.
Seiko and Wan Zi did not meet the requirements to ride the elevator, and forcing their way in would come with a price.
Since they couldn’t pay that price, the elevator itself had to shoulder it.
"Thank you very much."
Liu Zheng once again shouldered Seiko and Wan Zi and then stepped out of the elevator.
The sense of being watched in the darkness came again, this time even more than before.
"Watch your mother watch, if you have the guts, come and fight, I’ll send all of you back to the restaurant as ingredients."
He muttered angrily.
Feeling the malice in his words, the sense of being watched lessened considerably.
"Still watching? Fine, I’ll let your blood flow and cut off all that dirty and stinky shit of yours."
Liu Zheng spat out his boning knife, pretending to walk towards the deep darkness.
This time, the feeling of being watched disappeared completely.
"Act your part."
He cursed under his breath and took out the coal slag that Mr. Batiao gave him.
The coal slag began to glow when exposed to the wind, emitting a faint red light.
In the distance, amidst the darkness, a flickering light rose, uncertain whether it was light or darkness.
"I’m off, Mr. Batiao. If they need help, tell them to contact me, and I’ll do my best."
Liu Zheng shouted loudly and then charged towards the direction of the light.
Soon, he saw the source of the light.
On the empty space by the wall, a campfire was burning slowly.
Liu Zheng approached the campfire, inspected the ground to ensure nothing was amiss, then turned his gaze to the wall.
After checking for traps and finding none, he even tried tapping it with his hoof, but it was solid.
However, relying on his sharp Perception, he noticed that one area of the wall sounded slightly hollow.
Liu Zheng lowered his head and his horns easily penetrated the wall; then, he backed up, and a large brick was pulled out.
The dim light from the campfire revealed the faucet inside.
"The tough part is here."
He lay on the ground, curling up like an insect.
His bones and muscles kept changing shape, and after a series of crackling sounds like firecrackers, he transformed into a thin and long creature resembling Niu Ma.
"If Niu Ma sees me looking like this, I bet he’d sue me for portrait rights infringement."
Liu Zheng looked at himself and couldn’t help but mockingly say.
Then, he crawled towards the opening, wiggling into the faucet.
Seconds later, Mr. Batiao emerged from the darkness.
Around him followed a bunch of golden balls, hopping and bouncing, radiating soft light like fireflies.
A moment later, Thirteen Tiles also appeared, carrying a kerosene lamp.
"That kid left?"
He asked.
"Can’t you see for yourself?"
Mr. Batiao replied without any courtesy.
"Mr. Batiao, I’ve become a minister now, can’t you give me some face?"
Thirteen Tiles said with a wry smile.
"Even if you become a boss, you’re still the idiot who almost killed himself stealing my aphrodisiac."
Mr. Batiao shook his whiskers and said.
"Mr. Batiao! Cut it out with the embarrassing stories, or I’ll turn on you."
Thirteen Tiles snapped sharply.
"When there’s no one else around, what are you afraid of?"
Mr. Batiao rolled his eyes.
As the most popular senior employee at the Hundred Ghosts Bathhouse, Mr. Batiao knew countless secrets of the staff.
"Even if there’s no one, you can’t keep talking about it, Mr. Batiao, I’m serious."
Thirteen Tiles glared.
"Tsk."
Mr. Batiao picked up the brick from the ground and placed it back into the wall.
He then pulled a dark, lumpy thing from his pocket and used it to cover the hole Liu Zheng had made.
