Chapter 43: Straight to the Stomach
Chapter 43: Chapter 43: Straight to the Stomach
The arm, severed at the roots, obscured the woman’s face.
Her lifeless gaze penetrated the gaps between her fingers and met Liu Zheng’s eyes.
The bluish-white skin still looked smooth and elastic.
She must have been very young, and hadn’t been dead long.
Even though he had prepared mentally many times, even though he had tried his best to numb himself.
But when he saw the hollowed-out abdomen, his body still couldn’t help but tremble.
Out of fear.
And out of anger.
"Leave it to me."
A hoof snatched the bag away.
Niu Ma glanced at him, his expression inscrutable.
"Go, help me roll out the dough."
He shoved Liu Zheng forcefully.
The immense strength left him no chance to resist as he staggered to the pastry workbench.
"Roll it thinner, don’t make it thick like naan bread."
Without turning his head, Niu Ma shouted as he carried the bag toward the sink.
Liu Zheng watched his retreating figure, his chest heaving several times before finally settling down.
He picked up the dough and slammed it down hard on the work surface.
White Feather Chicken calmly glanced over, then continued plating up.
Humans are like that, always startled at first.
You get used to it.
If you can’t get used to it, Niu Ma will teach him the rules.
Luckily, Liu Zheng quickly found an outlet for his emotions.
He used four tentacles to control two rolling pins, focusing intently on rolling out the dough.
This highly challenging maneuver concentrated his attention, leaving no thread in his CPU to think about anything else.
Sheet after sheet of dough, as thin as A4 paper, steadily took shape and were tossed aside by Liu Zheng.
Soon, a mountain of dough piled up on the bench.
"Stop rolling, you’ve rolled enough dough for the next year."
Somehow, Niu Ma had come up beside him.
His voice jolted Liu Zheng, whose gaze shifted past Niu Ma towards the sink.
There was nothing inside.
"Don’t look anymore, it’s already stewing."
Niu Ma pointed at a pressure cooker and said,
"Old Ginseng Whole Person Soup. There are at least this many in this pot."
He raised his hoof, and then was at a loss.
Because he could only represent the number "2."
"Ahem, anyway, that’s the gist, as long as you understand."
Niu Ma said, unchanging his expression.
"Are you trying to appease me or provoke me?"
Liu Zheng looked at him.
"Both."
Niu Ma said frankly.
"I both like and dislike you. So don’t give me a reason, just keep living."
He pushed Liu Zheng aside.
"Now go wash the vegetables."
Niu Ma said indifferently.
Liu Zheng gave him a deep look and went back to the vegetable washing area.
"You’re back."
San Huamao sighed in relief when he saw him return.
"Good that you’re back. That ox is so stupid, he even broke the tap."
It complained.
"It’s Niu Ma, you silly cat!"
Niu Ma exclaimed loudly.
"Meow meow meow."
San Huamao made a face at him.
"Hmm... is there anything else that needs washing?"
Liu Zheng asked after taking a deep breath.
"Then you go and fish out the fish inside."
San Huamao pointed to a fish tank covered with a black cloth and said,
"Make sure you shout out loud before lifting the cloth."
It reminded.
"Okay."
He walked to the fish tank and grabbed the edge of the black cloth with a tentacle.
"I’m lifting the cloth now."
He shouted loudly.
"Everyone, cover your ears!"
San Huamao immediately called out.
All the kitchen staff, upon hearing this, put down what they were doing and covered their ears.
"Huh?"
Though Liu Zheng didn’t know what was happening, he followed suit and stuffed tentacles into his earholes.
Then, he unveiled the black cloth.
A fish with a frog’s head opened its eyes, then opened its mouth wide.
"Croak!"
A massive sound wave hit him, causing a momentary blank in Liu Zheng’s brain.
The water in the aquarium boiled, and cracks appeared on its body.
"Crap!"
Liu Zheng, coming to his senses, unconsciously cursed.
He still had his ears covered; had they not been, his brain might have been thoroughly shaken.
He reached his tentacle into the aquarium and grabbed the tail of the Frog Fish.
But the Frog Fish struggled violently, and the tentacle could not control it.
And the more it struggled, the louder it screamed.
This made an already irritable Liu Zheng even more irritable.
In a fit of anger, he directly pushed his tentacle into the Frog Fish’s mouth, all the way to its stomach.
"Gah!"
The screams of the Frog Fish abruptly stopped.
"Keep screaming, no one is going to come and save you," he said.
Liu Zheng pulled it out and slapped it twice across the face.
He used so much force that he knocked the Frog Fish unconscious.
"Having multiple hands is really great."
San Huamao watched the scene and said enviously.
Every time they tried to catch Frog Fish, they had to endure torture.
"How shall we deal with this thing?"
Liu Zheng asked.
"Don’t touch the head, just process the other parts normally,"
San Huamao replied.
"Okay."
He carried the Frog Fish to the sink and then rolled up the knife beside him to scale it.
Liu Zheng had grown up in the countryside; slaughtering chickens and fishes was no big deal, and in a pinch, he could even handle pigs and sheep.
"Don’t waste the blood and guts, you can keep them for yourself to eat."
San Huamao licked its lips, its eyes full of desire.
Whoever washes the vegetables can eat the scraps; it’s a small kitchen perk.
"Okay."
He heeded San Huamao’s advice and put the blood and guts of the Frog Fish into another basin.
"Here."
Liu Zheng handed the basin to San Huamao.
"Aren’t you going to eat it?"
San Huamao asked in surprise.
"This stuff is expensive; even these scraps can sell for several hundred outside."
It thought Liu Zheng was unaware of Frog Fish’s value.
"You seem to want it more than I do,"
Liu Zheng said.
"Hehe."
San Huamao washed its face shyly.
"Then thank you."
It buried its face in the basin and devoured the contents.
"Don’t think this will let you steal my cat, you scumbag!"
A man’s face emerged again, filled with anger.
"I’m just trying to get along with my colleague."
"I’d advise you not to get too heated; you wouldn’t want your cat to think you’re questioning its love for you, would you?"
Liu Zheng spoke calmly.
"...."
The human face was rendered speechless.
"I’ll tell it that I gave it this basin of Fish scraps because of you."
Liu Zheng said silently.
"You better do as you say."
The human face made the same motion with its mouth, then reverted to fur.
"This is delicious."
San Huamao raised its head, contentedly licked its paw.
The dark red bloodstain on its facial fur, considering its words, sent a chill down his spine.
"Actually, it was your owner who asked me to give it to you."
Liu Zheng said.
"Really? The owner is so kind, I love the owner the most."
San Huamao said happily.
The human face subtly emerged, smiling indulgently.
Then it turned to Liu Zheng, and its expression immediately darkened.
"Stretch your tentacle over here."
The human face said.
"What for?"
"Just stretch it over here. I have only a face left, what are you afraid of?"
The human face said impatiently.
Liu Zheng frowned and stretched his tentacle in front of the human face.
The human face opened its mouth, and the cat fur suddenly grew explosively, piercing Liu Zheng’s flesh like steel needles.
