Chapter 299: Chapter 292 Do Not Attack the Beasts of Old Yate
"Oh, let’s hear it."
Liu Zheng sat back down with a plop, then he picked up the cup beside him and gulped down the drink.
"After you enter Old Yate, it’s best not to attack the beasts inside."
Father John said.
"Why?"
"Inside Old Yate, there should still be hunters from the Gunpowder Workshop."
Father John hesitated before replying.
"Be more specific, I’m a foreigner."
"Alright. The Gunpowder Workshop is a branch of the workshop hunters; they prefer using gunpowder barrels and machine guns over melee weapons."
"Just like the weapons they are skilled with, the hunters from the Gunpowder Workshop are known to be hot-tempered and straightforward, but in reality, they are all kindhearted good fellows."
"After Old Yate was burned down, a portion of the hunters from the Gunpowder Workshop believed they had committed a great sin, so they chose to stay behind to continue guarding Old Yate and its residents."
"If you enter Old Yate and attack the Beastified residents, you will most likely come under attack from the Gunpowder Workshop hunters."
Father John narrated the sequence of events.
"Is that so?"
Liu Zheng looked at Andrina.
"The Church indeed forbids us from hunting beasts in Old Yate, but they did not inform us of the specific reasons."
Andrina said.
"What kind of materials can be found in Old Yate?"
"Tips of the giant raven’s wings, burnt skin of the charred orc, and the whip of the Two-headed Mutant Dog."
Andrina replied.
"It sounds like only one of those comes from the Beastified residents. Alright, I understand."
He finished the beer in his cup in one gulp.
Since that’s the case, he would first go and collect the wing tips and dog whips after entering.
As for the charred orc, he would negotiate with the people from the Gunpowder Workshop before deciding.
If they absolutely refused, then he would have to work quietly, no gunshots needed.
If the Gunpowder Workshop hunters insisted on stopping him, then he would have no choice but to take drastic measures.
"Anything else?"
Liu Zheng asked.
"Nothing else. Thank you for your help to our family, Mr. Liu Zheng."
Father John shook his head and said.
"No need for thanks. Where’s he?"
He glanced around and noticed that the helmet man was gone.
"My lord, he went to get his weapons."
The old woman quickly said.
"Oh."
Soon, the helmet man came out with his weapons.
His weapon was as peculiar as his attire, consisting of two short spears that were much thicker than ordinary ones.
The shaft of the spears was covered in sharp barbs, and the guards were made of more than a dozen barbs, which would dig into the user’s hands with a bit of force.
Aside from the odd design, these solid metal weapons seemed quite hefty; even if used as bludgeons, they would be powerful.
"By the way, I haven’t asked for your name."
Liu Zheng questioned.
"He is an orphan adopted by the Church, and his name was also bestowed by the Church. But because he committed a grave sin, his name has been taken back. You may call him the Redeemer."
The old woman explained.
"Sounds unpleasant. Your helmet looks rather cool, so from now on, I’ll call you Lao Dou."
He said somewhat teasingly.
"Clang!"
The helmet man excitedly knocked on his helmet, then knelt on both knees, bowing his head to the ground, his hands bending forcefully backward.
"By giving him a name, he is showing you gratitude and obedience."
The old woman elucidated.
"Rise, from now on follow me closely and work hard. I don’t have many virtues, but I am loyal and I never treat friends and subordinates unfairly."
Liu Zheng nodded and stated.
"Thud thud!"
The helmet man stood up, vigorously thumping his chest.
Looking at his demeanor, were it not for the fact that he still needed his weapons, he might have snapped them in half and sworn allegiance on the spot.
"Let’s go, Lao Dou."
Liu Zheng called out and led several people outside.
"Mr. Liu Zheng, I wish you all the best,"
behind him, Anke’s family and Flora’s family waved vigorously, expressing their blessings.
He waved his tentacles, shouldering his sawtoothed butcher knife, and left without looking back.
"Damn, that’s so cool."
Xia Kai gazed at Liu Zheng’s retreating figure, almost drooling with envy.
A real man should wield the coolest weapon, chop down the fiercest enemies, and bask in the warmest applause.
To achieve this extent, it would be worth it, even if one suffered numerous injuries or ate a lot of shit.
He clenched his fists hard, finally making up his mind.
He must perform well and prove his worth.
This was a thigh he was determined to cling to!
Not long after leaving the Suffering Church, the group arrived at the entrance to Old Yate.
All other passages had been sealed off in various ways, leaving only one suspension bridge.
On both sides of the bridge were hunters in Church Hunter attire, four on each side, a total of eight.
"Stop, entry is forbidden here."
Seeing them approaching from afar, a hunter called out a warning loudly.
The other hunters also raised their weapons, glaring intently in their direction.
"Hello, I am ’Holy Blood’ Hunter Andrina, ordered by Great Archbishop Amelia to take them into Old Yate,"
Andrina stepped forward and handed a document to the hunter.
"Understood. Let them through!"
the Hunter Captain shouted.
Upon hearing this, the other hunters put away their weapons and stepped aside.
"Lady Andrina, I need to remind you. Due to the ’Paleblood Moon,’ the Beasts in Old Yate are much more active than before and have charged the gates several times already,"
the Hunter Captain cautioned.
"Thank you for the warning; we will be careful,"
Andrina replied politely.
"Do you need me to send someone to accompany you?"
the Hunter Captain asked earnestly.
There were hierarchies even among Church Hunters, and as "Holy Blood" Hunters directly under Grand Patriarch Amelia, their status was no less than that of the "Holy Sword" Hunters.
Andrina, also known as "Holy Blood Rose," was very famous and a hot candidate to be the next leader of the "Holy Blood" Hunters.
Building a good relationship with her was certainly beneficial and harmless.
"No need, this gentleman is a disciple of Master Beethoven; with him here, we are surely safe,"
Andrina shook her head and then gestured towards Liu Zheng.
"Really, a disciple of Master Beethoven,"
the Hunter Captain looked at Liu Zheng with even more eager eyes.
Almost no hunter did not idolize "Holy Sword" Beethoven.
And since the establishment of the Blood Healing Church, Beethoven had not taken any disciples, only training "Holy Sword" Hunters or other hunters recommended by workshops.
Becoming Beethoven’s disciple virtually guaranteed the position of the next "Holy Sword" Hunter and even the leader of all Yate Hunters.
"It’s an honor to meet you, I am Hunter Captain Andre, responsible for guarding the entrance to Old Yate and the surrounding patrols,"
the Hunter Captain said respectfully.
"Oh, hello, my name is Liu Zheng,"
Liu Zheng was not foolish enough to refute Andrina’s claim.
"It’s hard to believe that Master Beethoven would take a foreigner as his disciple,"
the Hunter Captain remarked.
"Perhaps it’s precisely because I’m a foreigner that Lao Bei would want to take me as his disciple,"
he replied.
"Oh? Why is that?"
the Hunter Captain asked curiously.
"Because being uninvolved and unentangled allows one to act more justly and impartially,"
he responded.
"You make a very good point,"
the Hunter Captain said, admiringly.
He was about to say something more when suddenly the bridge shook violently.
Then, a terrifying roar burst forth from Old Yate City.
"Damn it, that beast is causing trouble again,"
without minding the courtesy, the Hunter Captain drew his weapon and ran towards the other side of the bridge.
