Chapter 250: Chapter 247 Liu Zheng: My body is quite sturdy
"Marian!"
Anke called his wife’s name and rushed out of the basement.
Even though he had witnessed the cat’s strength, he still felt uneasy.
After all, those outside were his most precious family members.
When Anke arrived at the front hall, he saw the broken door and wine barrels rolling around everywhere.
However, he did not see the bloody mess he had expected.
The front hall was clean, without a single trace of blood.
If it wasn’t for the large hole in the door, Anke might have thought he had just heard a hallucination.
"Daddy!"
Nina rushed into his arms.
There was still a hint of fear on her little face, but it was mostly excitement.
"Nina, what happened?"
Anke asked, stroking her head.
"Just now, a big monster broke the door and tried to come in and bite us, then Lady Cat walked over and slapped it away."
Nina mimicked San Huamao’s movements and explained with gestures.
"It’s Lady Cat."
Anke corrected his daughter’s term while looking towards San Huamao.
The hero who had repelled the beast was now squatting on the ground, seriously inspecting its paws, which had some dark yellow bloodstains.
San Huamao sniffed them and then turned its head away in disgust.
"Meow~"
It called out to Anke.
"Are you calling me, Lady Cat?"
Anke asked carefully.
"Meow~"
San Huamao nodded and then raised its paw towards him.
"This is the beast’s blood. This color indicates that it has entered deep beastification and has completely lost its humanity," he explained.
"Meow!"
San Huamao called out impatiently.
Clearly, it was not interested in the meaning of the bloodstains.
"Ah, I understand now, you want to wash your paws?"
Anke realized and said.
"Meow~"
San Huamao nodded.
"Alright, alright, just wait a bit, I’ll bring some clean water for you right away."
Anke’s attitude was even more respectful than when he faced Liu Zheng.
After all, compared to a cat that can both fight and understand human speech, a muscular man who can climb walls bare-handed was nothing special.
Soon, he came back with a large bowl filled with water and also tore off a strip of his own shirt to use as a towel.
"Meow~"
San Huamao looked at the water, glanced at Nina who was eyeing it nearby, and lifted its chin towards her.
"Do you want Nina to help you wipe your feet?"
Anke asked.
"Meow?"
San Huamao tilted its head, as if asking if that was okay.
"Of course, it would be her honor."
Anke quickly said.
"Nina, come help Lady Cat wipe her feet. Be very gentle and careful, okay?"
Without needing to be told, Nina cheered and ran to the front of San Huamao, then squatted down.
One little chubby hand held the cat’s foot pad while the other gently wiped it with the cloth, her expression both focused and joyful.
"This little one, she never puts this much heart into wiping my face," Anke said, a bit jealous.
San Huamao was enjoying it thoroughly, lying down and rolling up its belly.
The kitchen where the mother and daughter cooked, the little girl playing with the cat, and the old father watching—if you ignored the savage hole in the door, it was truly a warm scene.
"What just happened?"
Liu Zheng’s voice broke the warmth.
"Ah, just now a beast broke the door, and Lady Cat drove it away," Anke quickly replied.
"Oh, Salmon is really great," he praised.
"Meow~"
San Huamao, with its eyes closed, called out proudly.
Unlike the anxious Anke, Liu Zheng had waited until he had loaded all ten drums of "Uncle Pepper" into the portable cold storage before slowly coming up.
San Huamao’s strength was not entirely clear to him, but it was definitely stronger than his own without using props, handling these mindless beasts as easily as a cat catches mice.
Of course, it wasn’t like in those comedic cartoons.
"Mr. Liu Zheng, have you finished packing the wine?"
Anke asked.
"Yes, I have."
He nodded.
"Then let’s set out now. The door has been broken down, and I’m afraid it might attract more beasts."
Anke suggested.
He didn’t know how Liu Zheng had managed without a vehicle, but he chose to ask nothing.
"Should the food be ready soon?"
"It should be ready soon, but are you sure you want to eat here?"
Anke asked incredulously.
"Of course, I don’t like eating while walking; it’s bad for the stomach."
Liu Zheng said earnestly.
"Alright, alright."
Anke said reluctantly.
"No problem, we just need to block that hole."
Seeing Anke’s reluctance, he took the initiative.
"Then I’ll go get some wooden planks."
Anke sighed.
Original wooden doors were the toughest, and any retrofit was bound to be ineffective.
But with this foreigner insisting so much, he had no other choice.
After all, he couldn’t defeat him and still needed his help to escort his family.
"No need to trouble yourself."
Liu Zheng shook his head, then took a stool, sat down by the door, and used his back to block the hole.
"See, now it’s blocked. My body is much sturdier than a wooden board."
He said proudly.
If the boards were broken, so be it; his body could regenerate from blood and flesh.
Of course, Liu Zheng did not think those beasts could maul him.
Even Niu Ma had only managed to break his ribs; these poor fish and rotten shrimp were too much for them.
"Uh, you certainly have a robust physique."
Anke finally managed a compliment that was beside the point.
What could he say? The man was using his own body as a shield; saying more would seem suspect.
"Thank you. Mainly, I eat a lot, train a lot, and fight a lot. There’s no secret to it."
Liu Zheng said earnestly.
"Alright alright. So, Marian, is the food ready?"
Anke, not knowing how to respond, quickly changed the subject toward the kitchen.
Watching his retreat-like back, Liu Zheng smiled and then looked at the two little ones.
Nina was happily busy, now wiping San Huamao’s feet, now smoothing its fur.
His gaze shifted downwards towards the basin of water.
The dark yellow blood dissolved in the water, slowly spreading out and turning the whole basin a light yellow.
Liu Zheng frowned slightly, given the amount of blood, it shouldn’t have this effect.
Clearly, the blood of these beasts was not normal.
If the beasts were transformed humans, then was it the mutation of this blood that caused the transformation, or did transforming into beasts cause the blood to mutate?
"Mr. Liu Zheng, the food is ready."
Anke’s call interrupted his thoughts.
"Oh, good."
Liu Zheng nodded but did not get up.
"Aren’t you coming to eat?"
Anke asked.
"No worries, I’ll just eat here; I’m used to it."
After all, even in the restaurant, he used to sit on a low stool and dine.
"That won’t do, letting a guest eat alone is too impolite. Marian, help me move the table over."
Anke and his wife moved the table in front of Liu Zheng, then brought over the food and drinks.
The main dish was vegetable stew with meat, the staple was mashed potatoes, adults drank beer, and children drank sweet wine.
"Very nice."
Liu Zheng sniffed appreciatively and nodded in approval.
If you’re talking about taste, it definitely couldn’t compare to the Bloody Restaurant’s staff meals.
But if you’re talking about a sense of security, it was far better than the staff meals.
At least he didn’t have to read the item descriptions to decide whether it was safe to eat or not.
Liu Zheng picked up a spoon, ready to ladle some meat soup for himself, then suddenly turned sideways, exposing the hole again.
Just as everyone was unsure what was happening, he swiftly extended a tentacle and pulled a hairy beast’s head inside.
