Chapter 123: Chapter 123: Clothes must be worn close to the skin by removing the outer layer

Liu Zheng blinked his eyes but didn’t speak.

He was pondering one question, should he throw away the chew toy for being more straightforward, or the Golden Finger for being more practical.

Or, perhaps, throw away both.

"There’s no need to be so tense."

The Big White Goose saw his expression and flapped its wings.

That sharp, edgy feeling instantly disappeared.

However, Liu Zheng didn’t let down his guard because of it.

"I’m old and injured, unable to work or fight anymore."

"Out of consideration for my contributions to the restaurant, the boss allows me to retire here, so I just do some odd jobs within my ability."

"I can’t, and don’t want to, manage anything else."

The gaze of the Big White Goose passed over him, looking towards someplace else.

Liu Zheng forcefully resisted the impulse to look in the same direction and beads of sweat formed on his forehead.

"I’ll remind you on account of the dried little fish, Li is not a bad person, but sometimes good people do bad things."

"His thoughts are too many, too grand, too heavy; even his skeletal remains after death could crush someone."

The Big White Goose continued speaking.

"Some things are not by my choice, but I can’t refuse them either."

He finally spoke.

Perhaps from the moment he received the Legendary Armor, he had become involved with the Legendary delivery man,

and possibly the Ghost Hand had been eyeing him since that time too.

Even with a reset, Liu Zheng would still choose to deal with the French Plane Tree.

Without the Legendary Armor, he would have died long ago at the entrance of some unknown neighborhood.

"I can help you, of course, you can help me too," the Big White Goose said.

"Help you with what?"

"Have you decided to cut ties with Li already?" the Big White Goose inquired.

Liu Zheng shook his head.

How could he possibly cut ties now?

He was still planning to get the hat and complete the three-piece set of the Legendary delivery man.

"Then you can contact me once you’ve made your decision. For now, just keep moving forward."

The Big White Goose turned around and continued leading the way.

Liu Zheng looked back, but there was nothing there.

Scratching his head, he quickened his pace and followed the Big White Goose.

All the way to the Customer Service Department’s entrance, Liu Zheng didn’t see the elevator.

It probably only appears when the boss summons an employee.

The Big White Goose pulled out a key from beneath its thick feathers and opened the door to the department.

"Oh, it smells so good."

As soon as the door was opened, a rich fragrance immediately enveloped him.

Liu Zheng had never smelled anything like it before; it was definitely not a single scent, but a composite of at least a hundred different fragrances.

Yet, they were all perfectly unified, like a meticulously crafted suit of scale armor.

Each fragrance was like a scale, locking any foreign odor firmly within the armor of scent.

"Does it smell good?" the Big White Goose asked with a smile.

"It smells wonderful," he said sincerely.

With this fragrance alone, if he could sell it in the real world, it would absolutely trump Versace, Bulgari, Chanel.

"I invented this when I was still a minister; its purpose is to cover up the service staff’s odors."

"You know, the species in this world are diverse and peculiar. Some species’ natural odors cannot be tolerated by others, while some can’t stand any odors at all."

"The perfume I invented makes most species feel comfortable, even relaxes their mood, and lowers their aggression."

"Ever since using this perfume, the staff attrition rate in Customer Service Department dropped by more than thirty percent," boasted the Big White Goose.

"Impressive, impressive," Liu Zheng applauded vigorously.

It’s a pity that Niu Ma wasn’t here, otherwise he really should boast to him as well.

Take a look at how this department head behaves; he truly is the big brother of the restaurant.

"Alright, alright, it’s just some old achievements recorded in the books, saying more would be insincere," the Big White Goose laughed and continued walking with Liu Zheng.

The space in the Customer Service Department was much larger than the rest area of the Delivery Department, even larger than the kitchen by far.

Of course, that’s just on the surface, after all, there are places like the cold storage in the kitchen he hasn’t been to.

In the vast living room, there were dozens of dressing tables and single-seat sofas.

And on the walls and pillars around the hall, many mirrors and chairs were installed.

"Customer Service Department’s servers are divided into three levels, first, second, and third."

"Third-level servers share those mirrors and chairs."

"Second-level servers have their own dressing tables and sofas."

"First-level servers have their own rooms," the Big White Goose pointed to the small doors on the wall.

"What about you and the British Minister?" Liu Zheng asked.

"There, that’s the British Minister’s room," the Big White Goose said, pointing to a brass door directly facing the entrance.

"As for mine, it’s over there," it pointed to a small door in the corner.

The door of the Big White Goose was far from being as luxurious as that of Britain, and it even appeared to be more dilapidated than those of the other first-level servers.

However, on its door was carved the same restaurant model that was on the Memorial Medal given to him by Niu Ma.

"We’re short on time, so I won’t invite you in to sit. Right now, there are three Planet Level private rooms short-staffed, which one do you prefer?" the Big White Goose asked.

"Which one would you recommend for me?" Liu Zheng followed up on the topic.

"Young man, even if I admire you, I cannot show too much favoritism. After all, the current head of Customer Service is Britain," the Big White Goose shook its head.

"I’m not asking for favoritism; I’m just a newbie seeking advice from a seasoned big brother," he said as he affectionately wrapped his arm around the Big White Goose’s wing.

A wad of cash was discreetly tucked into the lusciously plump goose feathers.

The primary income for servers should be tips, and since the Big White Goose no longer serves customers, that is something it would likely be missing.

Liu Zheng has an obsessive-compulsive disorder and can’t stand it when someone is lacking something.

Not even a goose.

The Big White Goose froze for a moment, then let out a chuckle.

What a cheeky kid, trying to bribe it with money.

Although it wasn’t keen on amassing wealth, as a former head of the Customer Service for so long, the wealth it had accumulated was no match for Liu Zheng.

However, it didn’t dislike the gesture.

Liu Zheng’s actions reminded it of the days when it was still in power.

Back then, it was full of feathers and sharp-tongued, capable of tearing the executive chef’s knife to pieces with just a bite.

Countless waiters circled around it, trying their best to please it, all for the sake of serving in a good private room.

Alas, those days were gone.

Now, although its words still carried some weight, it had to look to Britain for approval.

Thinking of this, the Big White Goose sighed and looked at Liu Zheng with a slightly warmer gaze.

"What’s your lucky number?" it suddenly asked.

"Uh, 3?"

Liu Zheng ventured a guess.

Three is a sacred number.

"Hmm, it’s different from my lucky number," said the Big White Goose with regret.

"Just joshing. Actually, my lucky number is 2," he corrected.

Two can also be very sacred.

"That’s a coincidence, the same as my lucky number," the Big White Goose feigned surprise.

"So similar?"

Liu Zheng was even more astonished than the goose.

"Similar, very similar, just like when I was young. Although back then I was much thinner," the Big White Goose nodded seriously.

"This is fate. Big brother, please accept my bow," he said, kneeling on one knee and clumsily bowing toward the Big White Goose.

"Little brother, please rise," the Big White Goose helped him up and whispered in his ear.

"That’s enough, stop acting, or it’ll be overdone."

"Understood," Liu Zheng nodded slightly.

"It’s my first time as a waiter, and I don’t know what to pay attention to. I hope big brother can give me some advice."

"If I screw it up, losing my life is one thing, but tarnishing the honor of the customer service department is a far graver matter," he said gravely.

"Indeed, that’s the case. I’ll remind you of two things then," the Big White Goose nodded.

"Please tell me, big brother, I’m all ears," he said.

"First, conceal your ability."

"Second, avoid greed," the Big White Goose instructed.

"I have some understanding of ’conceal your ability,’ but what do you mean by ’avoid greed’?" Liu Zheng asked when he didn’t understand.

"You should know that our customer service department’s extra earnings mainly come from the tips given by guests. The more you fulfill the guests’ needs, the more they tip,"

"But some waiters only see the tips and neglect whether they have the ability to fulfill those needs,"

"Not realizing until they become the food for the guests that it’s too late by then. Their lives are gone, and the tips are handed over to the restaurant as compensation, a complete loss," the Big White Goose’s voice was ancient and firm.

"Got it," he nodded.

He wasn’t lacking in tips, expecting to hit a big score once he got nightingale out from City Hall’s hands, so he should be able to hold himself back.

However...

"What if the guests interfere with us mentally?" Liu Zheng thought of this issue.

After all, he had fallen for the Demon’s trick at the casino.

If it weren’t for Oynk coming to make a scene, he and Niu Ma might well have been done for inside.

"The restaurant has corresponding measures. Of course, it’s not possible to avoid it completely,"

"After all, even City Hall can’t completely prevent violations," the Big White Goose explained.

"Understood,"

"Let’s change clothes first," the Big White Goose flapped its wings and immediately a rustling sound came from the ceiling.

Liu Zheng looked up to see the white spider creeping ominously in the corner.

Noticing Liu Zheng’s gaze, it awkwardly froze in place.

These bizarre residents sure have a lot of drama.

Liu Zheng shook his head helplessly, looking down and ignoring it.

The white spider breathed a sigh of relief, crawled above his head, and then dropped down a thread, at the end of which was tied a uniform.

Once Liu Zheng caught the uniform, the thread immediately loosened and was swiftly retracted.

"Wait a second," he quickly called out, remembering the request from the driver.

The white spider, undeterred, continued to retreat into the shadows.

Liu Zheng hastily looked up, locking his gaze on the white spider.

Indeed, being stared at by his intense eyes, the white spider froze again.

Its left, black pearl-like compound eye desperately avoided Liu Zheng’s stare, filled with panic,

while its right, red agate-like compound eye glared fixedly at Liu Zheng, full of anger.

"Sorry for startling you," he apologized earnestly.

"I was thinking of commissioning a custom outfit. If you’re interested, come find me. I can offer a good price," Liu Zheng said before promptly averting his gaze.

The white spider bared two fangs at him, emitting a threatening hiss.

He heard it, but didn’t react, letting the white spider vent its frustration.

After a few hisses, the black and red eyes rolled around for a bit, and then the spider quickly vanished into the shadows.

Liu Zheng wasn’t sure if it had taken his words to heart; after all, it was like throwing a long shot.

"Quickly change clothes," the Big White Goose reminded him.

He shook out the uniform, the same black vest and white shirt as the Big White Goose, but with the addition of pants.

He was just about to change when the Big White Goose stopped him.

"That’s not how you change into the customer service department’s clothes," it shook its head.

"How should I change, then?"

"Simple, just peel off the skin," with one wing holding Liu Zheng down, the Big White Goose drew a feather from collarbone to pelvis.
