The Werewolf's Vampire Mate
Chapter 72: Closer.

Chapter 72: Closer.

Alanis.

"We have to hike the rest of the way," Eligio mutters as he parks the car, hidden in a bush. The car ride took forty-five minutes. My patience is wearing thin. All my thoughts on him. I haven’t heard from him before I continue this journey, I wish he would connect with me.

It can’t happen if he is not strong enough.

I don’t know the level of weakness he is at right now but he hasn’t reached out since I left my house.

"He’s okay," I mumble to myself, not letting anyone see the little amount of fear in me. I have to be strong and this is the only assurance I can give myself.

That is the only thing that keeps me going. Feeling him in the confinement of my chest. Knowing he is still breathing. I get down from the car and all eyes are on me. They are expecting me to be the leader in this. I have never been a leader but for his return, I will gladly take the bull by the horns. I look up and the sky is dark, the day is already over. I didn’t want to waste any time, waste for daybreak, so we left in the night. There was no hesitation on my part, he needs me and I will run through the night to get to him.

Eligio’s coughs out to get my attention "It’s an hour walk away from the house. We have to make it less than 10 minutes."

I know what he is talking about, we have to run with superspeed. Everyone is fast. Darrien is the fastest. I don’t know how fast Bell’s can go but that just means she will have to change. We can’t waste any more time. We have to do this now.

"Okay, everyone good to go?"

They all nod, Bell’s is the first to walk into the woods. She probably needs her privacy to change. Totally unacceptable. We all follow her and I don’t wait for them. There is no time. Running is easy for us, in the blink of an eye, we will get to the destination we need to. Today, it feels longer. I feel the wind, everything around me is blurry at the pace I am going but it feels like forever. I feel my brothers beside me on both sides. I see the smirk on Darrien’s face through the race.

This is exciting for him.

The fast life.

It takes about five minutes to get there. I counted in my head; it was the only thing that helped calm my nerves. I see the house immediately I stop. Everyone is here but Bells. It takes her another two minutes to get to us and she walks over to us in her true form. She doesn’t change back but crawls on all four next to me.

I read her mind immediately, almost like she is talking to me.

Let’s do this.

It is straight to the point and the ginger I need.

"We’ll stay out here, stand guard," Eligio informs me.

I look at the house, Darrien is watching me "We can’t walk in through the front door. We have to find a way out back.’’ Darrien informs me, I know he is right. The moment Cassius sees us, we will be trapped. So we just have to hide from him until we can get to Beau. We are covered by a tree but once we take slow strides, I feel exposed.

He might not be here, the fact that we are here is unknown to me but I also know it won’t ve so easy to get him out. I know the way that leads to him, from the front entrance. I have it memorized but if we use another route, I might not be as quick to get to him but it’ll be easier to get him out if we are not caught, so I will do what Darrien suggests right now. Even if this house is like a fucking maze, I will solve the pathway to get to him, I will feel him and he will be with me.

"Let’s take the back, we have to be as quiet as possible. Kill anyone on sight." I direct him.

I will not hesitate to hurt them.

The moment Cassius took Beau, he became my mortal enemy. Anyone working for Cassius is my enemy. We take the opposite direction, the one leading to the back of the house. From the vision I saw with El, this house looks exactly the same. The bricks are still intact, the paint the building is chipped and faded but and there are vines frowning everywhere. The house is covered with different plants. Somehow it makes it even more beautiful, almost like it has more character as the years passed. The story of this house is sad. It is something that I don’t wish on my worst enemy. It can make anyone mad. It made Cassius mad with vengeance.

There is a little door at the back of the house, the only door visible to me but there is also someone there. I stop in my tracks when I see the person and Darrien looks at me. He knows what to do, he is the best at the sneak attack. He uses his eyes to tell me that he can handle the man. The man guarding the door is dressed in a black shirt and black pants. He has black boots on. He is muscular. I can smell him, he is a vampire. This is the first vampire I have ever met that is so buff. He looks pissed, almost like he is pissed at the world.

Darrien hits my shoulder assuring and I watch him. It is a beautiful sight to see, him in action. He is fast, almost at the speed of light, before I can even blink, he is behind the guy. Macho man doesn’t even notice him. The blow is quick, he doesn’t hesitate as he snaps his neck in one quick movement. I hear the crack of the bones as the man falls to the ground.

"I got this," he gloats quietly standing over the body.

My legs move to him and he smiles in accomplishment. It’ll take him about thirty minutes to heal. So, we have only thirty minutes. Darrien bends down on his knees and I know what he is about to do.

He folds his hand into a fist "No," I stop him.

He looks up with a frown "We can’t leave him alive.’’

I shake my head ’’Not him, Cassius’s heart is the only one I want."

He rolls his eyes ’’Leaving this man here will be a big mistake. We have to take them all down," he is determined.

I don’t just want to keep killing all the bad guys. They wouldn’t be the way there are if not for Cassius.

"We have to do this," Darrien pushes. I don’t want this to come back and bite me in the ass so I agree with a sigh. He smiles and the look in his eyes tell me that he is going to enjoy this. I watch him as he makes the fist again, this time with more force. The fact that he is unconscious makes this easier. Ripping out a heart from the chest is the only way to kill a vampire, and also, beheading them. The sounds as he presses into his chest is loud. Blood drips out all over his hand, as he slowly pulls it out. A heart, that stopped beating the moment he got turned.

Of no use now.

Darrien tosses it away and cleans the blood on his pants. It is black, so not as visible as it would’ve been on another colour.

"Now he can’t blow our cover," he winks and walks over to the door. Darrien is ruthless, that has always been his strength. There is no remorse in his eyes as he opens the door slowly. He is being cautious. For a moment, I thought I was the one in control but Darrien is impressive. There is no fear in him, this is just another old adventure to him.

The hallway is dark, too dark but empty. Darrien turns around and faces me "You should take the lead on this one since you’ve seen the place." he whispers quietly.

I nod and walk-in, there is a candlelit at the end of the hall, other than that there are no lights. In this day and age. In the year 20200, he is still using candles. Cassius is stuck in the past; he doesn’t want to move forward.

I take slow steps until we get to another door, slowly I open the door and we are in a kitchen. I didn’t see the kitchen in the vision. So I can’t tell how to get to him, the kitchen is empty. Empty, deserted and dark except for another candle.

"Hasn’t this motherfucker heard of electricity?" Darrien blurts out and I end up chuckling. I had the exact same thought so it is funny to me.

"Come on," I walk to the door and open it slowly. Caught off guard I see someone. It’s another vampire, he glares at me angrily. I run over to him swiftly and grab him by his neck. At first, it is a struggle but I do this as quick as I can. There is no time to break his neck, so I rip his heart out instantly. He screams out from the intense pain, ruining the not getting caught part. Another one of Cassius’s minion comes out through a door and Darrien smiles.

"I got this brother," he winks and runs over to him.

I focus on the one in my grasp, this is the second time I have done this and I must say, I am not a fan. I feel his heart on my fingertips as he mutters his last words in pain "Cassius will never let you survive this," his eyes remain open as I pull out his heart.

Darrien’s prey is already on the floor, his heart out of his body. There is a smile on his face "Good job," he walks over to me and pats my shoulder.

There is blood on his hands, so it smears on my shirt.

"Come on."

We walk side by side and I feel closer to Beau.

I am coming baby.
