Chapter 575: The empty room

Rex

"You know we didn’t even have to sneak into this house. The people here are fucking stupid." Darrien tells me with a scowl on his face.

I know he doesn’t want to be here and he is lashing out at me. I get it but all in all, I am grateful that I am not alone right now.

"Why does it seem like trouble always follows us, I mean, first we had to deal with Cassius and now we are dealing with witches. This all doesn’t make any sense."

I am quiet as we walk into the house. a big part of me wants to remind him that this is just about Blue. Unlike the time with Cassius. The whole community had to deal with it together but this is a fight between Blue and his mother.

The pack is not involved.,

"You are too quiet; do you even know where you are going?" Darrien adds. He seems to be rambling right now.

"Not really,’’ I confess. I have been to the potions room once with blue before. I don’t even remember where it is. I don’t want him to see me as someone that doesn’t even know what they are doing even though that is exactly what it looks like right now. I am walking in a path that is unfamiliar to me and It seems like Darrien can sense it.

"Then where are we walking to. I mean, we can’t just look everywhere,’’ he tells me in exasperation. I turn to him slowly as we descend down the stairs. He is getting impatient and I completely understand how he feels.

"I just need to find the basement. Once I do, I know which door it is."

He nods "How many stairs do we have to take to get to the basement?" he asks me calmly. I guess I just need to communicate with him. I don’t really know how to handle Darrien. The only person that he is patient with is Jabi and he is not here right now.

We finally get to the hallway and I count four doors down to the potion room. "I think this is it,’’ I tell him.

I reach for the door handle and it pushes open immediately. Once I see the familiarity of the room. I let out a sigh of relief. We both enter the room and he starts to look around. "What are we looking for exactly?’’ he asks me as he starts to rummage through the shelves.

Blue didn’t give me any information. He didn’t explain anything to me, so i don’t even know how I am supposed to find Gyles. I haven’t been able to communicate with him through a mind link. It is almost like he disappeared without a word and it should scare me but I can feel him. In fact, the connection I have with Gyles now seems stronger. It is just that he is silent. I know he is trying to communicate but something must have happened to him.

That is the only reason why he would go silent on us both.

"How do we find this mysterious door?’’ he adds in question.

I am getting really frustrated with his questions because I don’t have the answers to them. I don’t know exactly what he wants me to say. I don’t know how he wants me to have all the answers to it all.

"I don’t know Darrien, please can you just let me think for a second,’’ I snap at him from all the frustration I feel.

Blue is somewhere in the woods, Gyles is nowhere to be found. I feel so alone and useless. I hear a creaking sound from one of the shelves in the room. We both turn to ut and I see the bright light, shining through it. I walk over to it immediately and Darrien’s footsteps follow behind me.

The light seems to be coming out of a book and the minute I pick it up, the shelf pulls apart to reveal a door. I see the door and instantly, I know that this is the mysterious room that we have all been looking for. I know that Gyles found it, that is the only explanation I have. The door creaks open before I even have a chance to open it and I turn to Darrien immediately.

"This is fucking weird Rex; I don’t think it is a good idea to go in," Darrien tells me and even though I am scared, I know that I have to go in. I have to go in because Gyles went into this place and that is the only way I will be able to find him.

"I won’t ask you to come with me, but I know that I have to do this."

He lets out a sigh as I turn back to the door. Once I walk in, I feel the air change. There is something terribly wrong with the halls. It is different from the other one and I don’t like the way it feels. We keep walking until I see the sole door. The room that Gyles has been having nightmares about.

His presence is stronger, I feel him inside me. All over and this confuses me because I can’t see him and I need to find him.

"What the fuck is this place?’’ Darrien speaks up immediately. His voice echoes in the darkness as we stop in front of the room.

"This is the room,’’ I exclaim with all the dread inside me. I am scared, terrified because I know of the evil that has happened in this place, and now, I will have to go inside.

The minute I step into the room, the air changes even more. I feel cold, and hot at the same time. It is a small enclosed place, and he is not here. Gyles is not here right now. the walls are stained and dingy.

"What the fuck is this?’’ Darrien screams out in terror. My hands tremble as I try to look around. My grip is still on the door. I don’t want to let go of it because this place is unknown to me.

"What is this?’’ Darrien asks and I see him bend down to pick it up. I recognize the book immediately.

"It is the book of evil."

Gyles had it which means he was here.

But where is he now?
