Chapter 554: A flash of a vision
Chapter 554: A flash of a vision
Blue
The drive to the coven is quiet.
I am nervous and terrified of all that I have agreed to.
I know there is no other way out of this and I have to come to terms with this decision. Gyles has been trying to make me feel better and It has been working.
I am sure that I can protect the two of them If it comes to that.
I am not going to let it come to that.
"What is the plan?" Rex manages in question.
There is no plan "You are willing to join the coven. Be part of this community and desert yours. For now, I want it to just be words. I will find a way to delay the commitment. All we have to do is find the room and then figure out what we are going to do next."
He raises a brow and I see the doubt in his eyes.
"Do you think she would believe us? I don’t think it is going to be that easy."
I know it is not going to be that easy but I also would like us to expose her before it gets to that point. For now, I know that she genuinely thinks I am back. This is not the first time that I have run away from home. When I was younger, I left thinking I could survive in the outside world. That was before I knew about Jules. She didn’t look for me, she never even asked me to come back.
It was almost like she waited for me to come back.
Like she knew I was going to come back to her. Like there was some invisible force that was pulling me to her. Right now, she thinks this is like the last time. She thinks I am back because I can’t survive in the outside world.
She thinks I would only be happy with her and that is why I believed this is going to work. The only thing I have to make sure of is that we do this as quickly as possible.
"It is going to work. I just need you guys to be as believable as possible."
He nods "Okay.’’
Right now, the people we need to convince are the elders and it seems like she has them wrapped around her fingers. Like they would agree to anything she tells them to.
I park the car in front of the house and I see Badger by the door. I don’t know how she knew we were here but it freaks me out a little bit.
’’Why is he just staring at us?’’ Rex asks.
’I don’t know. He has been acting weird since I came back. I know she has her doubts. She is not a hundred percent certain that I am for real. Let’s just get down and see what she has to say.’’
They get down from the car as I do and we all walk together, till we get to her.
"You are all here,’’ there is a smile on his face as he watches us. I keep my eyes on him—her, trying to sense anything. I used to be really subpar at my senses. I would know how someone felt, what someone was thinking but with her, it is a blank wall. I can’t push through it, I can’t get past it, even a little crack.
Whatever she is doing is strong—very strong.
"Are we ready for this?’’ She asks me calmly.
I look at Gyles and Rex and they both nod at the same time.
"Yeah, we are.’’
He leads us down the steps and down to the stairs to the basement, or rather. The part of the house where the meetings are held. Where I was judged and forced to do things. I don’t like this place, I wish I didn’t have to face this but at the end of it all, it is something that I have to do. Something that I have to face.
I see the elders at their judgy round table. Their gazes are strong and very intimidating but this time, something doesn’t feel right. Badger doesn’t follow us, I turn around to the door as she stops and closes it slowly. Almost like she is letting me know that I have to face this on my own.
Well with Gyles and Rex. I turn back to the elders and the strict expression on their face deters me. How am I supposed to convince these people? There is something in the air that I can’t pinpoint. Something that scares me. This is not the first time I have been to this room before. This is not the first time I have been with these people but unlike all the other times, something is strange.
They remain quiet as I take steps forward with Gyles and Rex until we get to the middle of the circle. I stand between Gyles and Rex and I look at the two elders in front of me.
"You are here because you all want to join the coven? You are willing to do anything to join the coven?’’
Magnus is the first to speak up, his voice is strong and calm. Even though he sounds the same as he always did. it just doesn’t feel like he is the same person I met the last time.
Major said a lot of things have changed in the coven and I know to expect the unexpected from my mother but I just can’t pinpoint what it is that has changed with these people.
"Yes,’’ I speak up, trying to stay firm.
I don’t plan to spend more than a week in this place. It takes about a. week to prepare for the oath. If we can do what we need to do here before the week runs out, then I can get us out of here before it gets worse.
"Your partners don’t look like they feel the same way.’’ Willow points out. Her eyes fixed on them.
I close my eyes as I take a deep breath "We feel the same way,’’ Gyles mutters bravely. I feel the chills as I open my eyes but I am not in the room anymore. Gyles and Rex are not next to me anymore. It is like a flash but clear as day. I see their bodies, massacred and bloody. It feels so real. The elders are dead.
I shake my head and I am back in the room.
Back in front of them.
