Chapter 530: [Bonus Chapter]
Gyles
Blue’s focus shifts to finding a way to hide me from the world. I understand why this would be a topic he is interested in. I mean, with all the things that happened to Jabi, I wouldn’t want anyone to know about me. I don’t want to be like a red cloth to a bull. I don’t want to have to watch what I do and where I go.
Even though I want him to find a solution for that problem, that is not the reason why this witch is here.
She is here because he wants to make sure that Analise is still alive. I know for a fact that she is still alive.
I can beat my chest to that but somehow, Blue is finding this harder than I thought he would.
I know he doesn’t want to go back to that place and maybe it is not cool that I keep asking him to but I need to go back.
I need to right all the wrongs in that place.
"Where is the book?’’ Abaddon asks us.
I look at Blue and I see the look of hesitation in his eyes. The book that he still thinks is a trap. I am not scared of it anymore. I haven’t been since I saw Eleanor. I know that she is not a bad person. I know that she needs my help and that is the only reason why she is here.
Yeah, they used the book but this could have happened to anyone. I wasn’t chosen, it was just unfortunate that I opened the book when Blue told me not to. I still blame myself for that incident but I don’t want to dwell on it since it has already happened.
"I’ll go get it,’’ I stand up from the chair and Blue does the same.
"I can come with you,’’ he suggests.
I shake my head and manage a faint smile. He is worrying again, afraid that something will happen if I do this on my own. He still thinks that the only thing I am good for is trouble. I wonder how long he will keep that thought. I turn to him "I can do this on my own, I promise nothing will happen.’’
Rex nods "Yeah, he will be fine,’’ he encourages, and, at this moment, I am glad he is here too.
I walk out of the room and out of the house until I get to the main house. Beau’s house where I have a room.
If you ask me why we kept the book in my room here, I would say Blue. He wasn’t comfortable keeping it in our house.
I know the real reason why he wanted it here was because he didn’t want it near me. I get that but somehow, I am connected to the book. Maybe that is why I haven’t seen or heard from Eleanor.
I walk into my room and to the drawer in the closet where we kept it. I feel the chills as I reach for it. This book should be scary, I mean, how the hell did it come here when we returned it.
I know, I know.
Magic.
I open the drawer and pull out the sack containing the book. I have to force my fingers to undo the string. I finally manage to open the thing. I feel a rush of emotions at the sight. I am nervous and excited. My heart races. I grab the book tightly; it suddenly feels like my life depends on it. It is such a weird feeling.
I feel the power that the book holds.
I feel the souls that are lost inside of it.
They are a lot.
So many that if I even try to channel into it, I might lose my mind. Still, I can’t help it. I am so tempted to open it.
"You shouldn’t do that,’’ I hear her voice before I see her.
I turn around and Eleanor is staring at me with that lost gaze. I haven’t seen her since that night. I don’t know if this is a good or bad thing but somehow, it makes me understand that I have to be with the book to see them. I am pretty sure that she could have found me if she wanted to.
"Hello Gyles,’’ she calls my name and it feels like a melody. Soothing and scary at the same time.
I try to hold on to the book with my trembling hands "Seeing you is a sight for sore eyes,’’ she mutters meekly.
I take a step towards her "You came back to us,’’ she adds.
I shake my head "I never left; I just had some things to deal with.’’
She nods, almost like she understands what I mean. "You are here now, that is all that matters.’’
She seems to be the only one doing all the talking. I don’t know what I could possibly do to help her.
"You said you need my help; how do I help you?’’ I ask her.
She sighs, her voice is soft and her eyes light up with the softest green. "You can set us free; you know where we are. She buried us all in that room, you have to help us out of there.’’
She makes it seem like it is the easiest thing to do. Just go back to the coven and look for this mysterious room.
"And then what? if she is still alive like you claim she is. Then she would just do it to others. There will be more people."
"You have to stop her, we will lend you, our powers."
I look at her and I want to believe her but there is this voice at the back of my head--maybe Blue’s voice. His wariness, his doubt.
"You might not believe me; you might think this is a trap but it is not. We wouldn’t be here if we had a choice.’’
"How am I sure you will let me go once this is done?’’
"You are the one who can free us, you must have a purpose. This is your purpose; this is why you were chosen. Once we are free, it will all end.’’ I hear the room door open and she is gone before I can even utter another word. Blue’s scent kicks into the room as he walks into the closet.
"You, okay?’’
I see the look on his face.
The worry.
"Yeah, I tell him quietly as his eyes dart to the book in my hand. "They are waiting for you.’’
I nod and we walk out together.
Seeing Eleanor didn’t actually help things.
It didn’t make things clearer.
