Chapter 444: A different kind of love

"I want to go back to school,’’ Jabi whispers in the dead of the night. We are both under the covers, naked and content. Sex with Jabi is always amazing. Right now, I am in that state of mind where it feels like I am in a dream. He knows that I am in a daze but even through that, I still focus on him and whatever he is saying.

"Really?’’ I ask him because I didn’t even know that it was something that he wanted to do.

He pulls me closer to him and whispers "Yeah, I have been thinking about it for a while. Summer is almost over. It will be the start of a new school year. What do you think?’’ he looks at me and I look at him. He looks excited about it. I guess I just have to be as excited as he is about it.

"Yeah, I think I am ok with that,’’ I tell him because that is my job. To be the supportive partner and that is what I am going to be for him.

"Are you serious? I thought you wouldn’t be too happy about it. I know you want to keep me to yourself,’’ he says to me. He in a way is right, but I don’t mind sharing him. I don’t mind if he goes back to school. I want him to have a life outside our relationship. I want to give him all the things he didn’t have before me and there is no part of me that will stop him from getting any of those things.

"I want what is best for you and if you think this is best for you, then why the hell not?’’ I tell him from the bottom of my heart. We are still in bed, the sky is already dark and all our plans to go back home tonight have completely failed but I am happy in this space we are in. I am happy in his arms, with no worries in the world.

"Do you always just agree with everything I want?’’ he asks me, his brows raised and a smile on his face. I watch him and the smile on his face just tells me that he likes the relationship the way it is. He likes that I am supportive. I am always going to be this way with him.

"Yes, I do unless what you want is a danger to you.’’

He sits up, enjoying the conversation "What if I want to, like go back to my job? Would you let me?’’

"Do you want to go back to flipping burgers? If you want to, I have no problem with it. Although I don’t want you to have to suffer for the bare minimum anymore."

I say. I don’t want him to do that job anymore. I know that I can provide for us but I want him to have a choice. I want him to have a life outside of me. I want to see him go and do as he wishes.

"No, no, I don’t want to go back to that job, I am just messing with you,’’ he smiles and pulls me closer. I wrap him around me and he fits perfectly. "I know you are going to be there for me,’’ he says. He always knows how I feel. He knows how important he is to me.

I don’t even need to spell it out most times, he just knows.

"I made something for you before you came," he tells me, letting go of me and jumping out of the bed. I rest my hand on the dent that he just left as I manage to sit up. A smile on his face as he runs over to the bag on the floor.

"Do you want to see it?’’ he asks me.

"What is it?’’ I ask him as he hands me a little box. It is very nicely made. I am not sure what it is as I open it. There is a little figurine made of wood. It is a wolf. It is very well made, whoever made it must have taken a great deal of time. The way it has been carved is extremely fine. I am impressed with the little figurine.

"It’s a wolf, actually it is my wolf. I made it for you,’’ he tells me proudly. I look up at him and I can see the happiness on his face. This little thing means a lot to him.

"Thank you, it is beautiful. I love it,’’ I tell him honestly because I don’t even know what else to say. I didn’t even know that he could do something like this. I was gone the whole day and this is what he did for me.

It is a gift and it is priceless.

"This looks professionally made, I didn’t know you could do this,’’ I tell him.

He nods "I spent a lot of time alone in the woods, I used to do a lot of these,’’ he tells me.

"I made this for you because I want you to always remember that you are mine. I am yours. I want you to remember that you own my heart and soul and I own yours. I want you to remember that the wolf is my totem, and I want you to know that our story is different from others."

I don’t know what to say, somehow, Jabi always finds a way to surprise me. He has come a long way from when we first met. He is bolder, more romantic. I love him so much.

"Come here,’’ I stretch my hands out and he comes into my arms

. He is still naked, but I don’t care, I want to feel his soft skin against mine.

"I love you, I will always love you,’’ I tell him.

"I love you too,’’ he says.

"I am going to make you happy, I promise you that,’’ I tell him.

"You already do,’’ he tells me. He believes it. I believe it.

We stay like this for a while, just holding each other until we fall asleep. This is how we end the night, in each other’s arms.
