Chapter 409: Mind games

Chapter 409: Mind games

Blue

I get to the front of the tower and it seems like she has disappeared into it. My wolf is next to me, breathing slowly.

"Do we go in?" I ask calmly. Ever since I saw him, there has just been this relief. It is almost like I don’t feel so alone and afraid anymore.

"We do,’’ He replies and walks with me to the big wooden door. I don’t know if he understands why this is happening. I don’t know what the point of this exercise is. Yeah, this is a punishment but if this is all in my head, what is the point?

I don’t want to go around questioning the goddess because I have made mistakes and every action has repercussions. these are mine. I just have to get to a place where I understand and accept it.

I get to the door and put my hand on the doorknob, slowly turning it. The door creaks open and I walk in. I close the door behind me and I look around. It is dark and I can only see the dim lights in the room. I can see the moonlight coming through the big window at the end of the room.

There are candles everywhere and they are all lit. I see a small opening that looks like what is stairs. since this room is empty, I gather that there only way to go is through the opening.

My wolf is standing next to me and he is looking at the same spot. I walk over to the opening and follow the stairs down. It is dark in the room but I can see a little bit of light coming from the bottom of the stairs.

I walk down them and when I get to the bottom, I see my mother standing there. She is wearing a long white dress and her hair is flowing behind her. She looks at me and smiles.

"I am so excited that you could join me tonight,’’ she says and walks over to me. She grabs my hands and pulls me to her. I feel like my body is trying to resist her, but I don’t let myself.

"Why am I here?" I ask her, knowing that she is just a figment of my imagination. The last time I saw my mother, she was lying down on her bed, bleeding to death, and now all the talk about her being alive is probably the reason why I keep seeing her.

"We are here to play a game,’’ she whispers those words into my ear, I get chills from the sound of her voice because it seems like even in this dream world, she is still evil.

I sigh and look away from her. I don’t want to be here. I don’t want to play these games, but I have to.

"What game?" I ask her and she just smiles at me.

"The best game ever,’’ she says and looks behind me. I turn around and I see a big wooden door at the other end of the room. "This is a game of life and choices." she walks away from me and grabs the door handle, slowly entering the room. I follow her because I feel like id not even have a choice.

I have to do this.

This is the only way I can get out of this mess.

My wolf is at my side and he walks with me into the room. As we enter, the door closes behind us and we are standing in the middle of the room. The walls are made out of wood. The floor is cold and it feels like stone. I get a shiver from it and I look at my mother. She is looking at me with a smile on her face "What is going on?’’ I ask her.

Her grin widens and this makes me sick to my stomach. This is the woman who gave birth to me. My mother.

"This is not real Blue. she is not really your mother.’’ My wolf looks up at me. Somehow reading my mind and thoughts. I know that this is not real. I know that what I am seeing is all made up but with everything that is happening in real life. I see her for who she really is.

"Enough of the chit-chat, let the games begin.’’ she turns away from me and to the wall and for the first time, I see it. I see them.

Gyles and Rex are hanging on the walls, upright and unconscious. I take a step towards them but her voice stops me in my tracks "No you don’t, one step and they are both dead.’’ she warns me.

I know this is not real.

Fuck, this is not real.

Why does it feel so real?

They have bruises all over their bodies. Their eyes are closed but they look like they are in pain. They are both unconscious but I don’t know what that means.

"What do you want from me?’’ I ask her and she turns to me. Her eyes are glowing and her teeth are slightly showing.

"I want you to choose who you want to stay alive.’’

Her words come back to my head.

Game of choices.

Game of life.

"What if I choose both of them?"

Her laugh makes the chills run down my spine once again.

"I knew you would say that. Do you think there is a way around this? This is a game. there is no loophole, just a decision and you need to make yours before time runs out."

"What if I don’t make a decision?’’

"Then, they both die,’’ She answers. I look at them and I feel my heart pounding, my whole body shaking. They are not real; this is not real but it feels like the most realistic thing I have ever had to go through.

I don’t know how I am supposed to get out of this. I don’t know how I am supposed to choose between my two mates. I don’t know how I am supposed to do this.

"Time is running out Blue, make your choice," she says and smiles at me. I feel like she is playing with me. I feel like she is watching me, waiting for me to make a mistake.

I can’t do this.
