I wake up in the morning and he is not next to me.

Okay, I don’t want to drag this clingy attitude to a new day. The sky is bright, it is a new day and I am happy. I don’t want my emotions to make me a whiny little bitch this morning.

I sit up on the bed and there is a note on the bedside table.

I grab it and his squiggly handwriting says. Went for a run. Will be back soon. Hugs and kisses.

His message is vague and very weird. It just reminds me of how weird he has been acting since last night. I know he is keeping something from me and I don’t know how I feel about that. there is a knock on the door, which makes me get up from the bed begrudgingly. I walk over to the door and see Rus on the other side of the door with a smile on his face. I raise a brow because it is too early for him to be here in my house.

"What are you doing here?’’ I go straight to the point but he ignores my question and enters the room. "I didn’t say you could come in.’’

He laughs as he jumps on the bed, resting with his hands over his head "Why do you always act like you don’t miss me.’’

I scoff "it is not an act; I actually don’t miss you."

He chuckles "I know a lie when I see it. I am here to spend the whole day with you.’’

I frown "I didn’t ask you to do that. Why don’t you go back to where you came from?’’ I tell him as I walk further into the room.

"I can’t do that bro. you are stuck with me.:" he winks and grabs his phone from his pocket. I watch him as he stays fixated on whatever he is doing. This all seems suspicious.

"Beau would be back soon. I don’t want you here when he comes from his run,’’ I walk over to him and nudge him. I wish Russ would take a hint. I am hinting that I don’t want him here—not even hinting. This is me blatantly telling him to get the fuck away.

Too bad I am here as a distraction.

I read his mind.

"Distraction for what?’’ I raise a brow.

He drops his phone and raises a brow in confusion "Shit, did I say that out loud?’’ he asks nervously.

I stomp my foot on the ground, already getting impatient with this conversation "Tell me why you are here Russ before I get upset."

He slowly stands up from the bed until he is in front of me and raises his hands up "I am here to spend time with you.’’

He is lying. God his energy is so obvious right now "Did Beau ask you to come and spend the day with me. is he up to something?’’

He shakes his head "No, I called him and he said he had a busy day, so I offered to spend the day with you. He said he didn’t even want you alone in your condition. Even though I have no clue what he meant by that.’’

He seems to be saying the truth. I sigh loudly and walk away from him, grabbing my phone from the bedside table. Once outside the room and in the halls, I dial his number. He answers me on the first ring "Where are you?’’ I ask him.

"I went for a run,’’ he responds quickly.

"You know I can just connect to you and find out if you are lying. It seems like you are up to something. tell me the truth before I get upset. I don’t like this at all.’’ I breathe into the phone frustrated already. I was just talking o Gyles about transparency and Beau is keeping things from me.

"Give me fifteen minutes. I will be home and we can talk then.’’ He is breathing heavily through the phone. I don’t want to have to go into his mind like I don’t trust him. I don’t even think it would work if he doesn’t let me and with all the sneaking around, he is doing, I am sure his mind is not open to me right now. I walk back into the room and Russ raises a brow at me "You are being all the things you used to hate.’’ he huffs, shaking his head in disappointment.

"This is none of your business.’’ I walk into the bathroom. I hear his footsteps as he opens the door widely.

"Do you even trust him?’’ he asks.

"Get the fuck out of here,’’ I try to close the door but he just walks into the bathroom faster. "This doesn’t concern you. I don’t even want you here.’’

He laughs dismissively "You know you are ruining something that could be so magical. Why can’t you just live in the moment."

"Tell me what this is about and then I would stop acting so crazy,’’ I run my hands through my hair. I trust Beau but I just really hate being out of the loop. He is keeping whatever he is up to away from me and it is making me fucking paranoid.

"Whose friend are you anyway?’’

He laughs again "Yours and that is why I think you just go with the flow. He is busy, why not let him be busy.’’

He walks back into the room and I sigh out of frustration. "Why don’t you call your boyfriend and tell him that he can get on with his day and then we can go out for a movie or something. my car is outside,’’ he peeps his head back in.

I know now that Beau is planning something and maybe he wants it to be a surprise. Eventually, all these secrets will come to light. I want to enjoy it all as they come.

I dial his number and he answers on the first ring "I am almost home, give me about five minutes." He sounds tensed and tired.

"I am going to the movies with Russ. We can talk when you’re done with whatever it is you are doing."

I hear his breath through the phone "You sure? I am almost at the house. if you need to talk. I want to.’’

"Take your time. I trust you."

I can almost picture his smiling face "Okay. I love you."

"I love you too."
