Rex

I jump off the bed and Gyles is staring at me with a smile on his face. His eyes are wide open. It almost seems like he didn’t sleep a wink last night. I get that he is a vampire and he doesn’t need sleep but he is part wolf. So, there is a part of hum that is like me, so he should be asleep.

"What time is it?’’ I reach for my phone and there are a bunch of messages from blue. Ignoring his calls is not the best thing but I want him to be surprised when he sees us. I want that part of him that thought that he wasn’t going to see us for a couple of weeks to be excited. I want to make him happy and now that I think about it, I think he will be happy to see us. He might be angry with Gyles right now but he still loves him as much as he loves me and that will compensate for the anger that he feels.

"It’s a little after seven,’’ he answers me and I feel his hands as they wrap around my waist gently. Being with Gyles alone is a temptation that I didn’t think I would get. I didn’t even imagine that I would have to control myself with him. I know he is trying his best too. He doesn’t want to mess things up as if he did with Blue and I appreciate that he is trying to be better for us. He is becoming more of a decent person and it is all thanks to Blue.

I open my phone to the messages.

They are all sweet messages.

I miss you.

I can’t wait to be in your arms again.

Thinking about you.

Call me when you see this.

All the messages are sweet except one.

Stop whatever you are doing with Gyles. He is such a troublemaker.

"What does this mean?’’ I face the phone to him and he reads the message. A smile sprawls to his face. Like he knows something that I don’t.

"He is such a tease,’’ he smiles and I don’t like that there is something he knows that I don’t. I don’t want to be left out and I am sure he notices from my expression.

"Did he call you?’’ I ask him.

He shakes his head immediately "Something weird happened yesterday. Even till now, I don’t know if it was real or just my imagination.’’

I furrow my brows because I am confused. I was with him all through yesterday, so I don’t know what he is talking about.

"What do you mean, what happened yesterday?’’

He smiles "So, you know you said Blue tried calling you all through yesterday, well he came to me yesterday.’’

"Came to you how?’’

I don’t know what he is talking about but it seems like he has lost his mind. I don’t know how much Blue rejecting him has affected him but it seems like he is out of his mind right now. I don’t want to make him seem crazy.

"In the bathroom,’’ he smiles like he is being rational right now.

"How?’’

His smile widens "He used his magic,’’ he tells me calmly.

"He came to you in the bathroom with his magic?" he nods "Why would he do that?’’ I add because I am confused. I can’t say that it is impossible because I know he actually had magic. So, there is a possibility that he came here last night but I don’t know why he would do that. Blue said he didn’t want to talk to Gyles. He is still upset with him—hence why we are going to him in the first place.

"You were not answering his calls,’’ he breathes out those words and they just confuse me the more.

"Why didn’t he come to me? if he wanted to talk to me?’’

He raises a brow "Is this a problem. Did you not want him to come and see me?’’ he asks and I can tell that I have hurt him with my questions. It’s not that I am jealous or anything but sometimes, I just feel like Blue has more of a bond with Gyles than with me. I might be the only one that he is talking to right now but sometimes I feel like their connection is stronger and I am just in the middle.

That is because you are not giving him a chance to bond with you. open up to him and you will see.

My wolf accuses me.

"There is no problem Gyles, I just feel like it is kinda weird that he went to you and not me. maybe he is forgiving you.’’

I try to make it seem like I am on his side right now when I am jealous. I hate that there is a part of me that is jealous when deep down I know that the love between the three of us is equal. Maybe It’s that part of me that wants to be the center of attention.

He gets up from the bed and I watch him as he grabs a change of clothes from his bag. I am still dressed in the same clothes as yesterday. If we start our journey early, we would be with Blue before the evening. I can’t wait to see him again. I have missed him so much.

"That’s a good thing, right?’’ he asks as he drops the clothes on the other bed. He grabs a towel from his bag, which makes me wonder how many things he packed for this trip. I didn’t take such things.

"Yeah,’’ I tell him as I stand up from the bed too. "I need to get my bag from the car,’’ I tell him with a smile on my face. I know he can tell that I am acting weird but he hasn’t called me out on it and I am appreciative of it.

"Told you to get it last night.’’

I roll my eyes as I walk out of the room and down the stairs until I am outside and under the bright sun. I grab my phone from my pocket and dial his number immediately. he answers on the first ring and I can already imagine him smiling.

"Hi baby,’’ he breathes out and my heart warms up.

"I am sorry for not answering all your calls last night."

He chuckles "Yeah, you had me worried. So worried that I did something stupid.’’ He confesses and I already know what he is talking about.

"Gyles told me.’’

He sighs "I knew he would. I didn’t want it to look like I didn’t trust you. I just wanted to make sure you were okay,’’ he explains.

All the worrying in my head disappears because I completely trust him. I know he is sincere right now. I don’t have anything to worry about. It is just my insecurities getting the best of me and I need to calm down and stop being secretive.

"We are fine,’’ I assure him.

"Are you guys back at the community?’’

I close my eyes because I will have to do some more lying. I can’t tell him where we are because this has to be a surprise.

"Yes,’’ I lie.

"Good. I have some things to do today, so I might not respond immediately but I will call you tonight to check up on you."

"Okay."

"I love you, Baby."

I smile because the sincerity in his tone is overwhelming. Having this much love from two people is so empowering that sometimes I don’t know how to handle it. I grab my car from the bag and as I am walking back to the room, I bump into someone.

A woman.

"I am so sorry,’’ I apologize as I start to help her with her things. She manages a faint smile and for a minute, it feels like there is a pull and I can’t stop staring into her eyes. I feel numb at that moment as she holds unto me tightly.

"Nice to meet you Rex West."
