The Werewolf's Vampire Mate
Chapter 165: Infected

Chapter 165: Infected

Alanis.

He rocked my world in just fifteen minutes.

I didn’t realize I was holding my breath all night until our intimate moment. Everything that happened is still messing with my head. I almost lost him and I have been unable to get over it. Seeing him lying down on the cold ground and not being able to do anything about it is haunting to me.

’’Thanks for not dying,’’ I breathe into his arms, suddenly getting comfortable. Maybe that was just what I needed to relax and now I don’t want to get up.

’’You didn’t die either, we are both alive and I am grateful,’’ he kisses the side of my neck, as his arms pull me even closer. My phone vibrates on the bed and I see a message from my father.

FATHER: Meet them at the hotel. They are waiting.

I jump up from the bed and he watches me, even without a word, he already knows what it is ’’The same place?’’ he asks eagerly. I know he wants to end all these things that have to do with Cassius. We are all tired and I feel like as long as he is still alive, we will be unable to rest.

’’Yeah,’’

We get dressed, yet again but this time there are smiles on our faces. I guess sex does that to a person. There is a Zen mode that my brain has entered. Nothing can piss me off at this moment. Not even Cassius and all the drama that comes with him. I can already see the light shining bright at the end of the tunnel and I doubt that anything can ruin it but I don’t want to jinx this new feeling inside me, so I am going to take things easy and slow. Focus on the right now.

After getting dressed, we head for his truck, which is parked outside. It has been a while since he drove his truck. I have always thought his truck just makes him even more appealing. Maybe it is just me but it is such a turn on.

’’What’s the plan? We need to figure out what we’re going to say to them?’’ he tells me. He is talking about his anger issues. I know he doesn’t want to get upset today. I look out the window as the sun is rising slowly. The orange reflection that comes with the sunrise, hits my eyes. Another day has come but today seems a lot brighter.

’’That we have Cassius.’’

He frowns ’’What if they want to take him? You know they are not too hell-bent on killing him."

That is the truth but I want to believe that they will let us do things our way. We are the ones that caught him. They didn’t do anything to help us. This is all Beau’s handwork and they can’t tell him what to do. ’’You tell them how you plan on handling this. The Elis have no control over you guys. It’s the vampires the control.’’ I remind him that he is still the leader of the pack. He is the one that gets to make all the decisions.

’’This is not up to them. When you go there, I want you to be confident, demand, don’t request.’’

’’They are not the best crowd to be authoritative towards. Atieno kind of gives me the creeps,’’ he blushes, showing me the side of him that is vulnerable. Beau is not the best with words and most times, I think that is where I come in play. I help him with communication but this time, it has to be from him. He has to show them that he is the boss, he is the one in control.

’’Just be yourself, do not agree to anything they demand. We are not letting Cassius go to them,’’ I tell him. Cassius has to die. He should be executed. That is the only way this will all end.

Beau starts the car and just as we are about to reverse, Blue walks over to us waving frantically. I roll the window to my side down and he peers into the car. Beau told Blue to check on Cassius. He said he wasn’t healing from his bite. I don’t think he deserves any special treatment but Beau wants to make sure he is alive to see Gyles. To me, it is like a final goodbye. Seeing the man he loved before finally dying but to Beau, it is torture. He wants Cassius to see Gyles and regret all his decisions. If he finds out that the man he did all this for is still alive, he will hate himself.

Whatever Beau thinks is best, is what we will go with. I fully trust him and all his decisions.

’’You need to see him before you go,’’ he tells us with the same straight face that he always carries. Blue is the calmest wolf I have seen in this pack. He is so big, that you would think he was all bark but most times when he speaks, it has this comforting tone that makes you feel like you can trust him.

He has been of so much help since he came, I don’t even know how they were surviving without him before. ’’We are on our way out, can this wait?’’ Beau asks him calmly.

He shakes his head ’’Just a couple of minutes. It won’t take time. I just think you need to see this.’’ He tells both of us and this lets me think that this is something serious. We get down from the car and walk behind him to the house where Cassius is being kept.

’’Is it something to worry about?’’ I ask him.

’’Not really, I mean the motherfucker needs to die but I just want to know what caused his infection. It seems weird that he is not healing.’’

Beau bit him, so that means whatever happened to Beau while he was dead, changed the dynamics. Something is different about him but we don’t know what it is.

We go down the basement and the moment I see him, all the anger that I thought was gone resurfaces. He is unconscious on the ground but I want to rip his head out of his body. I hate this man so much, I never thought I could feel this much hate. My eyes go to the bite around his neck. It is a dark purple colour against his pale white skin. The veins around his neck are black. They look almost like ink on his skin. The damage Beau’s bite seems very vast.

A smile sprawls to my face from this scene in front of me. I love this so much. The fact that the love of my life ended up being the death of this bastard is everything to me.

"It seems to have gotten worse,’’ Beau points out in confusion.

I know he is worrying that something is wrong with him but all I can think of is how defeated Cassius looks right now. ’’This is a fucking good thing, He is going to die, no matter what,’’ I am still smiling. God, I can’t help myself. This is the best news I have heard all year. The fact that we don’t even have to kill him and the motherfucker is still going to die, just shows how weak he is.

’’It is not that simple, if Beau’s bite did this, that means his bite might be poisonous to your kind.’’

I furrow my brows in confusion ’’what do you mean? Are you saying his bite could affect me the same way it did him,’’ I point to Cassius. He nods immediately. Now I am not as happy as I was. I don’t want to have any limits with my link. This could end up being a bad thing.

Fuck.

Slowly Cassius’s eyes open wide and he tries to get up from the floor but the minute he moves, the chains burn him and this gets a loud cry from him ’’What the fuck did you do to me?’’ he looks at Beau and all the hate is pouring out of his eyes.

’’Nothing you didn’t deserve,’’ Beau answers him confidently.

I like this side of him. He is being very confident. Whatever happened to him when he died made him better. I really don’t know what Blue is thinking but I don’t think the repercussion will be negative.

’’This is not over,’’ Cassius mutters weakly.

The man is a shell of himself and he doesn’t want to even admit it to himself. If by some miracle, he gets the opportunity to escape, I doubt he will last long. His scent is fading, he is already weak and the look of his injury, there is no getting better.

’’Whatever you say Cassius.’’

Beau walks away from the man and we all follow him ’’what do you think this means, do you need to check my blood?"’ he asks.

Blue nods his head ’’Yes, maybe when you get back?’’

We both nod with the hopes that this doesn’t become a problem.
