The Werewolf's Vampire Mate
Chapter 162: The bunker.

Chapter 162: The bunker.

Darrien.

I get to the road I left them and find the bus, with a tyre hanging out and the spare by the side of the road. The bus is empty, all the children are gone. One of the windows on the bus is smashed in but the shocking thing is brock’s body by the side of the road.

Shit, he is dead.

I walk over to his body and carry it into the bus. this part of town is usually empty. Cars rarely pass by this road, but I don’t want to take any chances. If someone finds his body, there could be problems.

I know for a fact that Jabi is still alive because I can still feel him. My heart still knows that the blood in his veins is still flowing. Maybe that is why I am not panicking as much as I should be. I listen to Jabi and now there is the possibility that the vamps have him.

I will never forgive myself if anything happens to him.

I follow his scent into the woods, in search of him. the further I go, the stronger his scent is. Once I find him, I plan on giving him a good scolding. He needs to stop using the power he has on me to get me to do things that he wants. A part of me knew it wasn’t a good idea leaving him and Rex with all those women and children, but I wanted to believe him. He had something to prove and I wanted to be there to help him even though it was stupid of me to listen to him.

As long as he is alive, I am not upset.

My heart stops in my chest as I see the bodies in the middle of trees. They are all dead. Holy fuck.

From their scents, I can tell they are vampires. These must be part of the people that took them but where the hell are the rest and where is my link. His scents get stronger as I get close to a cave, I see them all. All the kids and women. I see rex too, he has a smile on his face when he sees me.

’’Thank God you came back,’’ he exclaims, walking over to me excitedly.

I look around in search of my link. He is not here, why the fuck is he not with the group?

’’Where is Jabi?’’ I ask him at once. Like I always say that kid is my priority. All these people don’t mean anything to me. he is the only one I care about and I know it might seem selfish but the fact that I am glad everyone is okay is progress.

He looks away from me, with hesitation. I frown. ’’Where the fuck is he?’’ I ask him again.

This time as his eyes meet mine, I don’t like the words that leave him lips. ’’He didn’t come with us. we left him with the vampires.’’

If he is talking about the vampires that I just passed by, they are all dead. So where the fuck is Jabi and why is he not with the fucking group. I swear for the better part of me, Jabi is fucking stubborn and I guess you find out these things as you spend more time with someone.

I don’t like this side of him---fuck, who am I kidding. I love all sides of Jabi. I know in that moment, he tried to be a hero. I just need to find him before anything happens to him.

’’Darrien,’’ I freeze in place when I hear his sweet voice. I turn away from Rex and to the sound of the voice and I see Jabi. My eyes shift to the person next to him. his scent is strong. He is a vampire. Swiftly, I jump over to him on reflex, pinning him to the ground.

’’Don’t hurt him,’’ Jabi shouts, this distracts me and our positions switch, me now being the one restrained. I look up at him, the confusion evident on my face ’’He is my friend,’’ he explains.

Give it to Jabi to make a friend at a time like this. His face seems familiar. I feel like I know him but I can’t put a name to his face. ’’Get off him Theo,’’ Jabi tells him and he obliges immediately.

Theo?

Who the fuck is Theo and why do I suddenly feel this wave of jealousy? Whoever this guy is, I don’t like him.

’’I’m sorry,’’ Theo apologises as he lifts me off the ground. I don’t think it is a good idea to be in the middle of the woods having this discussion.

’’What happened?’’ I ask.

Rex speaks up ’’Jabi saved us.’’

I open my eyes wide because I wasn’t expecting that. ’’Yes, he did, it was so cool,’’ a little kid pipes in. I look at them all and they are all staring at my boyfriend with so much admiration. I don’t know how I feel about this and I am still confused as to what happened but there is a feeling of pride bursting out of me. everyone said he was weak but somehow, he is not anymore.

’’I need to hear more about this, but I need to get you all out of here,’’ I tell them because I don’t know what is happening in the community. It seems like I haven’t even done anything. I have been running back and forth all night. Frankly, I just want this shit to end, so that I can focus on the important things.

I lead them back through the woods, wanting to get them to safety. The plan still stays and that means I have to make sure nothing happens to all the omegas.

’’Are you going to tell me who this man is?’’ I ask him once everyone is in front and it is just us again.

He smiles and grabs my hand. The butterflies dance around my tummy as I feel his touch. Already feeling the warmth that comes with it.

’’You don’t remember him?’’ he asks with that goofy smile that has been on his face all night. I like Jabi when he smiles. I never want to see a frown on his face.

I furrow my brow, his smile widens ’’You seem to always want to kill Theo,’’ he laughs like there is an inside joke I am not aware of.

’’When did you get chummy with him. I am the only vampire you’re allowed to be chummy with.’’

’’I am not chummy with you,’’ he denies, still smiling.

I stop walking for a second and he does the same, watching me. ’’That hurts,’’ I place my palm on my chest, pretending to be hurt. He raises a brow, probably confused at my reaction.

’’Are you really hurt?’’ he asks.

I nod.

He frowns, I regret doing this. I only want to see him smiling, so maybe this joke is not needed at a time like this.

’’I’m kidding,’’ I tell him, wanting to see that smile again.

His smile resurfaces and all is right with the world.

’’Theo is the guy you tried to kill. The one that took me from the community,’’ he refreshes my memory.

Suddenly I remember him. I didn’t kill him and apparently, it came to use seeing as he helped my baby. This war is not as straightforward as everyone thinks it is. These people are not the enemy. They are not in control of everything that’s happening.

They don’t want this as much as we don’t.

’’Why did you come back, I told you I could handle things here,’’ he asks me with a scowl, his beautiful brown eyes glaring at me.

’’Alanis sent me back,’’ I confess to him.

He nods ’’Is everything okay back there... how’s Beau?’’

The minute he mentions Beau, rex stops walking until he is by our side. I know he is wondering too. He and Beau have this close relationship. He must be worried.

’’He is fine, everyone is fine, Cassius is being handled,’’ I lie. I don’t really know if he is alright because I got there in the midst of all the chaos and I left, thanks to Alanis. I am glad that Alanis convinced me to get to my link because they needed me.

We get to the bus and me and Theo change the bad tyre. Once I start the bus, we drive until we get to the bunker. I lead them all out of the bus and into the bunker. The bunker is an underground house, which was used by the military in the 1900s. Father acquired it and it has been used as a place to getaway. Most times, we come here, to just lay low as it is off the grid.

There are a total of ten rooms.

I assign rooms to everyone, including Theo. At this point, we will just stay here till things smooth over in the community.

I am going to be optimistic and believe that everything will be okay.

We will win this fight.

I can already feel it.
