The Werewolf's Vampire Mate
Chapter 145: Who to trust.

Chapter 145: Who to trust.

Beau.

’’You want to help us?’’

This seems so unbelievable to me. Almost like the deities are finally saying ’don’t worry child...everything will be okay.’ Walker fields came with his own form of assistance. He brought a lot of people with him. These people will help in the ways we need. His smile is warm. Another face that looks trustworthy.

My heart is racing against my chest because I don’t know how to react to this. Cassius will not expect this. Right now he thinks he has the upper hand. He thinks he is going to win against us but I can already feel our victory and I know it is too early to celebrate but I am so happy.

’’Wow... I don’t even know what to say. This means a lot to our pack. How did you know we need the help?’’ I ask him. If everyone has heard about Cassius. I think coming together is the best thing to do right now. The contention is pretty much void right now. It was brought about to bring peace between the two kinds but right now, my kind is pretty much endangered. There is no contention as long as we have him hunting us.

Yes, I know this doesn’t mean all the vampires are grouped into one category. They are not all bad, I am in love with one so I can attest to it. As long as they are not a threat to us, I don’t have a problem with them.

’’Everyone is aware of what is going on... I won’t just sit back and watch him win anymore.’’ His words are comforting. I would’ve done the same. Somehow Cassius and his murders have been sheltered from me. I didn’t even know about him until Lanis came into my life. Father kept me hidden from everything and I think that is why things are a lot harder for me right now. if I knew, I could’ve been preparing long before but now he just came like a surprise and most times I don’t know how to handle him and all the problems that come with him.

’’This means a lot and your kindness will never be forgotten,’’ I tell him from the bottom of my heart. It takes a lot to risk your life for people that you don’t know. That is why I am so indebted to Lanis’s family. They came into the community and they have been the biggest help. Now we have more people. This is enough to form our own army. Cassius has his troop and now we have ours.

’’Repay it with the same when we need you,’’ he winks and I blush from the embarrassment.

I lead them into the guest quarters. Before all this and the death of my father, we used to have guests from all over the world. Werewolves like us. This was like an incentive to help people find their mates faster. So having space for all these people is nothing big. There is a whole house, ready for guests.

I leave them to settle in and walk out of the house with Lanis. There is a smile on his face as he grabs my hand in his ’’This is great, everything is working out,’’ he mutters as we walk hand in hand. Yeah, it is too soon to celebrate, Cassius is not that easy to eliminate. I know it will be hard but I am going to believe that everything will work out. Seeing my future after the ritual makes me believe that this hard time will pass.

I know that everything will be okay.

Before I can answer Lanis, the splitting headache that comes with Cassius’s memory springs up. Catching me off guard. I fall to my knees, feeling Lanis as he grabs me by my waist.

’’What do you mean?’’ Cassius screams angrily.

Everywhere is dark. The angry sound of his voice is all I can hear. I know in this moment that something has happened. I close my eyes tighter, not even being interrupted by Lanis. He knows why this is happening. I am sure he is being extra quiet, so as not to distract me.

’’They know that we are coming.’’

The other voice informs him and my heart beats heavily against my chest. Shit, this is not a good thing. Thinking he had the upper hand was our greatest weapon. Now, somehow he knows that we know. So he might push this. He might not come anymore.

’’How did they find out? Is this a situation of betrayal?’’

His voice is cold. The anger still emanating from the depths of his throat. Slowly, my vision becomes clearer and I see him. This time in unfamiliar territory. I am now seeing things from his eyes. This is pissing me off because things are not going as planned.

’’We can’t be too sure. Our inside guy doesn’t know how he found out but I am suspecting we have a mole.’’

Fuck.

I don’t want him thinking there is a mole on his side. This could lead back to Bade and Brone. God, no. this can’t happen right now.

The fact that there is someone on our side that is working for Cassius is shocking to me. How would you work with the person that wants to eliminate your own fucking kind? I can’t find it in me to believe that.

’’Find out who it is. No matter what, I want this down before Saturday. We are still heading out tomorrow. Unfailingly.’’

He ends the conversation by walking away from the same man as the last time. My eyes open abruptly and Lanis is watching me with a worried expression. He knows what just happened. I don’t know how to react to this information. The good thing is that he is still going to come even though he knows that we know, the bad thing is that we have someone in this pack that is giving him information.

’’I need to call Bade. We need to know who the mole is,’’ I tell Lanis immediately completely forgetting that he has no idea what I am talking about.

’’Mole?’’ he asks with furrowed brows.

’’There is someone in this pack that is giving Cassius information. I need to know who it is,’’ I inform him. This is pissing me off. I am at the stage where I will kill whoever gets in my way. This person is leaking information to the enemy and that makes him my enemy.

’’This might not be the best time calling them. Things will be tense and it might lead to them being caught.’’

I know he is right but I also don’t know what to do. The fact that he has someone on the inside scares the hell out of me. Not knowing who It is, is even worse.

’’What do we do?’’ I ask unsure.

He sighs and then I watch him run his hands through his hair ’’No one but me and Eligio knows that you can see him. I can trust El, so we don’t have to worry about him. You trust me, so that’s out of it. Things will be okay. Let us just make a plan on tomorrow. If he is coming, we will be waiting. Calling Bade now is not the best decision.’’

I know he is right.

That is why I need him. He is the calm to my storm. Without him, I would be a mess.

’’Okay,’’ I exhale softly, the headache that came with the connection settling in.

’’You know I was watching you earlier today, with Jules. You can take him down.’’

He is talking about Cassius, this is his way of motivating me and it is working. I know I can take him, I just need to learn how to calm down.

’’Can we do the meetings with the Elis tonight?’’ he asks.

I have totally forgotten about them. I don’t think we need to even meet up with them. What is the point of meeting up with them when I know they can’t even help? Lanis wants me to, so I have to do this for him.

’’Yeah, do we have to meet with them in the community?’’

I shake my head ’’I don’t think this is the best time for anyone else coming to the community with all the uncertainty and mistrusts going on. Vampires are still kind of a touchy subject in here. I know most people haven’t accepted them. I don’t want any problems with the Elis.

’’We should meet them somewhere else,’’ I suggest.

Maybe right now is not the best time but there is no other option. It should be a quick meeting. Dash in and then out. I don’t know what they want to say to me but it would be about Cassius. The moment they tell me anything in the likes of not killing him. I will not accept it.

No matter what I will kill him.
