The Werewolf's Vampire Mate -
Chapter 128: Vampire cravings
Chapter 128: Vampire cravings
Darrien.
I open my eyes to a loud scream that sounds like it is coming from outside the cabin and the first person I look for isn’t next to me. I didn’t mean to fall asleep, these past couple of days has been fucking exhausting. Yes, I have had Jabi through it but my body is getting to it’s weakened state and I guess, lying down next to Jabi made it even easier.
I look around the room, it is dark, the pillow he was sleeping on is dented and still warm. His scent is still clouding the room, so he must have left a couple of minutes ago. Maybe he went to the bathroom or he finally went to look for food. I have to assume because I don’t want to worry. Before we had sex, he was acting a little weird. he looked exhausted and his eyes refused to go back to normal. They remained the same blue until he closed them and went back to sleep. I waited for him to sleep with the intention of going to look for Alby. I wasn’t settled with him, I wanted to make enquiries but I must have fallen asleep.
I need blood.
I need a lot of it right now.
I stand up from the bed, feeling very light-headed. I have to look for him, there is no sound coming from the cabin. There was a scream, sure it was a female voice but I can’t help but panic. I walk out of the room and the living room is empty. With a quick pace, I search the bathroom and kitchen. He is not in the cabin. My heightened sense picks up footsteps outside the house. The scent is strong, it is not my baby.
I open the door with shaking hands and Beau turns around to face me. my eyes are wide from the shock of seeing him outside Jabi’s cabin. Jabi left the cabin without telling me, so I can’t help but panic.
What if someone took him.
’’You heard it too?’’ Beau asks me.
I nod and walk up to him, suddenly the smell of blood whiffs up to my nose. It is very strong, the bloodthirst within me kicks in, I need to have blood before I lose my mind.
I walk with Beau until we get to the back of the cabin, I can already feel Jabi, so it doesn’t come as a surprise to me when I see him. The only surprise I get is seeing him on top of someone. Jabi is tiny, just a little over 5 ft. He doesn’t look like he could even hurt a fly, in fact, all the time I have known him, he has never hurt anyone. At this moment, seeing him devouring someone has my heart-wrenching in pain. Beau is quick to attack, or should I say take action. I am frozen in place, I don’t know how to react to what is happening. the moment Beau runs forward Jabi turns around and looks at us. his eyes are still blue and very angry. It feels like I am staring at someone else, someone I don’t know. There is blood all over him, his canine teeth are fangs. This is all familiar to me. he looks like a bloodthirsty vampire. One that has been starved of blood.
Beau runs over to him and pushes him catching him off guard, at that moment, all my instincts kick in. I cannot let him harm Jabi. No matter what, I will always protect him. I speed walk over to them until I am blocking Beau from him.
’’Get out of my way,’’ Beau warns me, his eyes flashing a bright red. Suddenly Jabi is not the only one that is unrecognizable to me. Beau has transformed in the split second I watched him run over to my link. His teeth are out, the flesh around his chest, arms and legs are furry. He looks like a half-wolf, half-man monster. I am never intimidated by anyone, but at this moment, I am intimidated by him.
’’You can’t hurt him,’’ I plead. I don’t want to have to fight Beau to protect Jabi. I will kill anyone if I have to. No one can harm him.
No one.
Jabi breathes heavily, I turn around and he is on his knees watching us with such a blank expression on his face. the blood is still dripping from his mouth.
’’He hurt one of us. that is punishable by death,’’ he reasons or rather should I say he decides.
’’Please don’t do this. he is not himself. I don’t know how this happened. Jabi will never hurt anyone.’’
I look at the body on the ground. She is still breathing. He didn’t do this to kill her. He just wanted her blood. It was out of his control. I can’t understand how this even happened in the first place. How he turned into this.
’’She is not dead, he didn’t kill her,’’ I assure him because all I want to do is get him somewhere safe. The look Beau is giving him right now is murderous and I don’t know if I will even be able to take him if he tries to hurt Jabi.
’’Take him inside, I will be back.’’ He runs over to the girl on the ground and lifts her up in one go leaving the alley behind the cabin immediately. I go over to Jabi and he grunts loudly as I get close to him. I raise my hands up so as not to seem like a threat. His eyes roam around as he tries to shift back. He doesn’t want me to touch him and I don’t want him to freak out and try to escape.
’’Baby, it is me. I need you to listen to my voice. I need you to come back to me,’’ I voice out calmly.
I have been in this situation before. I have hurt people when thirsty. This is not a surprise to me. so many times, I have done things that I didn’t even remember. It is a terrible thing; the thirst can drive even the most self-controlled vampire off the wall.
I can’t believe I am associating the word Vampire with Jabi. What the fuck is even happening?
He shakes his head immediately, moving backwards until his back hits the wall with a loud thud. I keep my stance as I try to talk him out of his trance. I know I can do it. Jabi is mine, he will listen to me.
’’Jabi,’’ I call his name again.
He shivers still breathing heavily. This time as I take another step towards me, he doesn’t try to escape. I go on one knee, my hands still outstretched, he looks away from me. Slowly, I can feel him coming back to me. ’’Baby, will you let me hold you?’’ I ask him. I wish he’d just talk to me.
Right now I don’t know how Beau and the rest of the pack are going to handle this. He was willing to kill him tonight. I will not let that happen. If we have to leave right now, I will take him in my arms and figure out what the hell went wrong.
How does this even make any sense?
His scent is still the same. Nothing has changed internally, so why is he suddenly drinking blood?
My arms pull him closer and he rests his head on my shoulder. His breathing is still spiked. He is cold against me, so very cold. I just want to break down because I am thinking a lot of worse case scenarios but I have to be there for him. I cannot lose it right now because he needs me the most.
Silent sobs erupt from him as he holds me. he has come to, I can feel him again. The way he was before he fell asleep in my arms. Somehow along the lines, he got off the bed and went searching for food. I know how that can happen. He wasn’t in his right frame of mind.
He didn’t know what he was doing.
That is the argument I am going to give Beau if he tries to come for Jabi. I need Alanis right now. he is the only one that can talk sense into his mate. I grab Jabi in my arms and carry him. he opens his eyes and I notice that they are back to normal.
He is back to himself.
Maybe all he needed was blood and we didn’t notice it immediately. I gave him my blood but now it seems like it wasn’t enough. I lead him into the cabin and place him on the couch gently.
’’What did I do? am I in trouble?’’ he asks me still crying.
I don’t know if he remembers but he must have some inclinations of his action. He wasn’t himself but he could feel everything that was happening.
’’No, I won’t let anything happen to you. I promise,’’ I assure him.
Slowly he passes out in my arms. I don’t know what I am going to do, I don’t know how to handle all this. the worry is strong within me.
I just have to protect him.
