Chapter 114: The morning after.

’’Are you guys decent,’’ Eligio pokes his head through the entrance of the caves. I grab my shirt from the corner on the floor Beau stands up, not even bothering with clothes.

’’Yeah,’’ he mutters loud enough for him to hear.

Eligio walks into the caves with a wide smile plastered on his face. he stops once he notices that Beau is naked ’’I thought we said we were decent?’’ he questions with a raised brow.

Beau shrugs and grabs his shorts from the ground. He puts it over his legs ’’So, you guys feel any different?’’

I shake my head, not sure what is supposed to have changed. ’’I don’t know. I still feel like myself,’’ I shrug ’’Maybe father was wrong?’’

I look at Beau for some confirmation. Hoping that he feels the same. I don’t want things to change. I want us to stay the same way we are. I really want him to be who he is and nothing else.

’’I guess we will find out,’’ he says to me.

’’I didn’t come here to talk about this. Those vampires are still with us. We need to do something about them.’’

I totally forgot about them.

’’I need to talk to Jules. I only care about finding Cassius right now. Whatever it takes.’’ Beau admits. I know how all this is taking a toll on him. The fact that Cassius has such a strong pull on him is ridiculous. That man just needs to die.

’’You found him,’’ Jules announces as he steps into the cave.

His hair is let down today, the expression on his face is calm and very relaxing. Like he has no worries in the world. This is how I want to be, I don’t want to be the over-thinker that I usually am. I don’t want to worry about anything right now. I am still in like my honeymoon phase but it feels like there is so much to do.

’’What happens now?’’ Beau asks him.

He smiles ’’I see last night was a success.’’

I don’t know what he means by that. it doesn’t seem like anything has changed within me. I still feel like my usual self—I mean my vampire self.

’’Yes it was, I need you to teach me how to control my powers. How to be stronger.’’ He pleads.

At this point, I know this was the reason why he called Jules in the first place. Everything that has happened has not been because of strength. Now that I think about it, we did things very sloppy. Cassius is a very strategic person. He thought everything through. We went it blindly and we got burned. That is the only reason he is always two steps ahead.

What Beau needs is a plan. He has enough strength to kill Cassius.

’’What about Darrien and Jabi?’’ I ask out of the blue remembering that we didn’t do this alone last night.

Jules sighs ’’They left last night.’’

’’what do you mean. How did they just leave?’’

I look at Eligio and he is the one with the most guilty expression plastered on his face ’’What happened last night?’’

He shrugs ’’Darrien was being Darrien. He didn’t think this was the way he was supposed to do it.’’

I frown ’’What does that mean. He took the kid with him. what if this ruins everything?’’

Jules interjects ’’I actually don’t think he would leave if it wasn’t the way it is supposed to be.’’

’’No one has ever mated outside this cave. It is a tradition.’’ Beau speaks up.

Jules nods ’’Things are different. This is not a regular mating ceremony. Traditions change.’’

I don’t know how to even react to this, I mean. Darrien could’ve ruined everything for him and the kid. I would hate for things to go that way but it is a possibility. If Jules thinks this is how it is supposed to be, then I guess we have to be hopeful and see how things turn out.

’’They said they will be back today,’’ El explains to us.

I nod.

’’I want you both to freshen up. Come to the field when you are done,’’ He informs me, walking out of the cave instantly.

’’I think I should go talk to those Vamps. See how they could be of help to us.’’ I tell him.

He nods ’’Can it be after you see Jules. I want him to check you. Make sure everything is okay.’’

I nod and the three of us walk out of the caves and to the direction of the main quarters. We get to Beau’s room and he walks into my arms slowly. His eyes are half-closed as he wraps his arms around me.

’’God, it feels so good to be yours,’’ he exclaims excitedly.

’’You’ve been mind since the beginning.’’

He nods ’’But now it feels different. I feel tied to you. Almost like we are married now. Does that even make sense?’’

I pull away from him so that I can look at him. he still has that dreamy expression plastered to his face ’’Can we still have a wedding?’’ It is just a random question because I haven’t really even thought about it but it sounds nice now that he brought it up and I realise I wouldn’t mind being married to him.

’’It feels like we already are. We are bound together for the rest of our lives,’’ he reminds me even though I was present last night.

’’I know, but like will we have a wedding and stuff?’’

I don’t know how it works with Wolves.

We don’t do weddings.

But I kinda want a wedding with him.

I want the whole shebang with him.

Does that even make sense?

’’The ritual is kind of like the wedding, don’t you think?’’

’’I know. Forget I said anything. It is stupid.’’ I dismiss it all because I am being kinda ridiculous right now. We have bigger things to worry about that a wedding. There is a man hunting us down and I am being stupid and talking about a wedding.

’’I will give you a wedding. I will give you the whole world Lanis. whatever you want, demand it from me. Do not be shy to ask,’’ he grabs my hand in his. He is being very confident right now. I love confident Beau.

’’I want a wedding,’’ I breathe out those words.

He grins ’’I will give you a wedding. Once this is over. I will do everything right by you. I promise.’’

Thinking about everything that has been happening, I feel like it only brought us closer. Cassius thinks he will win this fight, but I know he will only end up being the one that suffers through it all.

After our shower, we get to the field that Jules asked us to go to and he is there, with his son. The guy I met with Rex last time. I can’t remember his name.

They are both seated on the grass, their legs crossed over with their eyes closed. Beau walks closer to them and Jules opens one eye and with the calmest voice I have ever heard ’’Sit down and meditate with us,’’ he commands us.

I have never seen a werewolf-like this man in all my life. wolves are always so aggressive. Even Beau, he has his moment. There is nothing calm about them but this man seems like he can handle anything he comes across.

We obey them and do as they do. it is easy for me to meditate. It is almost like sleeping. Vampires have sleep states. That is moments when we go into a deep slumber for a long time. It usually happens when we don’t take enough blood.

I look at Beau one last time before I close my eyes. He smiles at me warmly which makes me see his smiling face in my mind.

’’Inhale,’’ he directs.

I inhale.

’’Exhale.’’

I exhale.

This breathing movement is soothing. It makes me feel good like I am ready to take on the world. I guess that was his intentions.

We meditate for a couple of minutes.

All my nerves calm down.

I hear shuffling and then Jules speaks up ’’You can open your eyes now.’’

I open my eyes and beau and look at my mate immediately. He has a calm expression on his face. He had this expression on his face even before the meditation.

’’I want to see what is different. I want to see if there are any changes in your bodies.’’

He walks over to us and his son moves next to him. We are still seated on the grass and it looks like he doesn’t intend for us to get up ’’There was the possibility that the mark could turn you.’’

’’I knew that was a possibility.’’

He nods ’’Have you had blood today?’’

I shake my head, I realise I haven’t even craved it. I don’t know what that means but suddenly there is a worry in my mind.

Why am I not craving blood?
